CBSSports.com Presents Fantasy Football Projections (TEs)

234x60_ffc_medium

CBSSports.com is SB Nation's fantasy football partner. SB Nation has a deal with CBSSports.com offering their Fantasy Football Commisioner leagues at half-price. If you're interested in purchasing a league for the price of $90, make sure you do it through this link so BTB gets the credit. You get lots of cool features with the league.

This week's projections concern the TE position. According to the CBSSports.com projections, they see Jason Witten as the #4 TE with 84 catches for 1,010 yards and 5 TDs. Martellus Bennett is rated as the #36 TE with 20 catches for 231 yards and 2 TDs.

Witten had a down year last year for TDs (only 2) but was still very productive in terms of catches (94) and yards (1,030). If you had him in a PPR league, he was money, in a standard league, because of lack of TDs, you were disappointed. Jason Garrett needs to target Witten more in the redzone this year, not for fantasy purposes, but for Cowboys purposes. The guy's a weapon, he can get open, and he'll catch the ball. I say use him. Bennett is going to get a lot of playing time this year now that he doesn't have to fight for time with John Phillips, but will he finally become the productive second TE we've been anticipating?

Consider this an open thread to discuss Fantasy Football.

CBSSports.com is an SB Nation partner and paying sponsor of the SB Nation football communities. This post is one of a series of sponsor endorsed posts relating to the CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner League.

ps

i’m obviously a bit bias towards the Cowboys, and i’ve always liked having qb/wr tandems on my team.

thats a pretty good team

although I think you’re going to be starting Wallace over Henderson at some point in the season. He’s going to be the Steelers big play guy.

+1

I was going to suggest that.

With Holmes gone, look for Wallace to make a giant leap this season.

I thought you were done with this blog?

AFB Condensed- New name, same flavor.

Quoting yourself doesn't require your own name attached to it. I'm going to assume if there isn't anyone else's name attached it's yours.

Nice squad !

U could prolly start Mike Wallace or even Arrelious Benn over the spaz Devery Henderson

That's actually my thought as well

I still need to set a hard lineup, and i’m still up in the air about my defense, but if it was anything like last year, i’m going with cincy

Witten would be the best TE in fantasy football

if he can increase his TD totals closer to 8 or 9. His receptions and yardage totals will be elite.

witten is bust this year

with our OL, we need help on LOS…and in the redzone, he will still help to block our OL too…yes, he will have a lot of catches and yards, but I still see lack of TDs….

before there was law, there were the Cowboys!!!

by orli on Aug 19, 2010 2:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Bust is a strong word....

Ever with 2 TDs he had a 1000 yards and in a PPR league he has tremendous value.

Witten will never be a bust

even if he catches zero TDs…..he’s Romo’s favorite target and most reliable receiver.

Good rookie WRs?

Beside Dez of course. I could also use some advice on rookie RBs.

I had my draft today

and hate my team. But I got Miles Austin, so that’s a plus.

Well

I won’t touch S Jax in the first round.

I hope you don’t need Heene but for one game.

Other than Austin you WRs are suspect.

Your RBs could be hits or misses but I tend to lean to the latter.

Two good Ds

Brandon Marshall will be fine.

Top TEs

I think the top three TEs are Dallas Clark, Antonio Gates, and Vernon Davis. Davis had a coming out party in 2009 and has the right team structure for repeat fantasy success. The development of Michael Crabtree should draw away double coverages away from Davis so it should mean another great year for the TE. Gates and Clark have been consistent top performers are the position. Gates production may take a minor hit with V. Jackson’s absence; so I will give Clark the nod as the top TE.

2010 Fantasy Projection 4 Clark
2010 Fantasy Projection 4 Gates
2010 Fantasy Projection 4 Davis
