Around SBN: L'Equipe Claims He's Coming To Chelsea On Five Year Deal

Alamodome fans losing patience with Roy Williams. How patient will you be with him this season?

Roy just dropped a pass, square in his hands, and was promptly booed by the crowd. One fan went as far as to say, "Roy, we wish it was you that was hurt!"

I can tell you from being there

Taken as a whole, the fans at the Alamodome for these practices: Not. So. Smart.

My head was constantly on a swivel to see who just said what dumb comment.

Who boos in practice? Practice. Dumb.

The question isn't how patience will we be,

it’s how patience will JG and Wade be. Hopefully Jerry will stay out of it and not let the money be an issue. Play the best players not the highest paid ones.

As long as he produces redzone TDs and moves the chains when needed, I’ll be content. Hopefully they put the best ones on the field…

Is Seanrude at the Alamodome?

Not me

I want the guy to do well, but let’s just say I am not optimistic

Classless act that...

but RW has been well compensated for his pain (physical and mental)

by Keys80 on Aug 2, 2010 5:15 PM CDT reply actions

I have a longer rant on this planned...

But I’m sick of fans turning on players on this team. We should want every player here to succeed and to play well, including Roy.

I know fans are upset with his production vs. salary, but that’s doesn’t excuse turning the guy into a freaking enemy. He’s on the Cowboys, don’t treat him like he’s an imposter. He’s not going anywhere, so might as well support him while he’s here.

These reports of fans booing the crap out of Roy, while not cheering the great plays he’s making is classless and completely asinine.

I also heard a Cowboys fan on the radio last week call Marion Barber “garbage”….

..sigh…

So.....

That means we should want him to fail? I don’t see him taking any reps away from Miles or Witten.

No one *wants* Roy Williams to suck

But they respond as they should when he hurts this team. He had a 35% completion rate on 3rd downs last year. 12 time last year he dropped the ball on 3rd down. That means just by Roy Williams being on the field, our offence sacrified nearly a drive every game.

Sorry, but if you’re holding this team back — you deserve the scorn you get.

The Cowboys aren’t a team that exists to get 54 guys paychcks for dropping balls and playing poorly. Go be an Oakland Raiders fan of you want to follow a team that exists just to get people paychecks. This team exists to bring home lombardi trophies. And Roy isn’t helping us bring any back.

Then boo during the game or

boo everybody that drops a pass in practice.

I can't agree with this

JJ made a bad decision. I think that virtually every Cowboys Fan in the world would agree with us on that one. But Cap Negotiating is a tricky thing, and the fact is if I were paying someone 45 Million over 5 years to play Football for me, I’d give him every single chance I could to let him succeed. It’s a combination of ego as well as financial management. Is it unfair to Crayton, Hurd, Ogletree, and Bryant? Yes. Is there anything I would recommend to fix it? Yes, don’t be so stupid in the future.

by NYHorn on Aug 2, 2010 6:42 PM CDT up reply actions

True but its water under the bridge. Whining about every day for 2 years its gotten old.

Your ok With Hurd a STer, green as grass Ogletree, a rookie possible stud Bryant, and Austin who has put together 1 whole season.
The money and the draft picks are done. I think world of Bryant an Ogletree but I worry about Bryant blazing out the gates and hitting the rookie wall and Ogletree struggling in his 2nd year like Bennett and Austin.
Worry about Roy next year. Their is too much at stake to allow personal feelings to get involved.
Crayton is better in the slot than outside the numbers.

Where did you get your drops number?

The guy dropped a lot of passes, but 12 on third down alone? The only number I have seen for him is 8 total drops.

by Baked Potato Soup on Aug 3, 2010 12:40 AM CDT up reply actions

RW

Roy is a Dallas Cowboy player. In my lifetime there has only been one player for the Cowboys that I held ill feelings about and that was Jackie Smith. Now that was a dropped pass that meant something. RW deserves to be treated as all the other Dallas cowboys are treated and that is with respect and dignity. Wishing someone was hurt is truly not a fan, its just an idiot with a pass.

I don’t think the dez injury is a major concern, dude kills it in games and practices

I had a lot of hope that Roy would turn things around this year.....

Maybe get on the same page with the QB…..

It sounds like he’s planning on dissapointing us again! sigh

by hakrjak on Aug 2, 2010 6:12 PM CDT reply actions

Roy is what Roy is... he's just a mediocre WR2

2009 – 596
2008 – 198 plus 232
2007 – 838
2006 – 1,310
2005 – 687
2004 – 817

average = 779 yards

That’s what you can expect out of Roy Williams. A below average WR2 in this league.

by Blue Eyed Devil on Aug 2, 2010 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions

779 yards= a solid number two receiver

not great, not bad, not below average. solid
and also you have notice he didn’t play full seasons, so, solid number two

by ratware on Aug 2, 2010 10:20 PM CDT up reply actions

He won't be disappointing me...

but then again my expectations are pretty low.

thats wrong

by Archie Barberio on Aug 2, 2010 8:26 PM CDT reply actions

That's just wrong.

I may not care for the job the guy has done so far, but you just don’t wish injury on players…ours or theirs.

I would love to have RW have an impressive season where he gets open and catches the ball reliably. I just don’t hold out much hope for that happening based on his past performance.

Would I boo him if I was there? I would if he was making it a habit of dropping balls in practice. From what I’ve read on the live blogs, he hasn’t had any more drops than Austin or Ogletree have so far.

And, there’s no way I’d think, much less say, something so stupid as wishing he was the one that was hurt.

What a stupid comment.

I will be at practice tomorrow. Hopefully I won’t have to hear a lot of that tomorrow.

I have come to the conclusion, LONG before this...

that 60% of “fans” let emotions overcome intelligence, if they have any.

Roy has his warts, but to say something like that is poor and shows no class.

This doesn’t surpise me though. In the Washington game last year, I found myself shaking my head in disbelief from some of the comments in the crowd. The guy below me was saying “Pull Romo” and when they finally scored he was like “finally” its like he couldn’t even be happy that his team was about to win.

Of course this comment was equalled by the comment of the guy defending Romo(to his defense his heart was in the right spot) who said “What are you going to do, put in Scott McGee?”

The diehard in me was about to say, “Actually Kitna is next on the depth chart and his name is Stephen.” but instead I shook my head.

Also I find that perhaps I’m a more patient fan than most, I’ve been at games that Dallas ended up killing the opposing team in the end, but at the beginning I hear “Oh this is going to be a looooong day.” After something like a run for a loss happens.

This is just fandom in a nutshell. Emotion emits reaction which sometimes reacts stupidity.
