This story from Josh Ellis indicates what we all know - we don't really want Brooking and/or Bradie James on the field on every 3rd down - or at least the passing ones.
This is both from the standpoint of giving them a rest as well as the fact that coverage really isn't either of their strengths. Seeing Brooking with that end zone penalty really doesn't fill me with confidence as to how he might get targetted through the season.
However, as noted in the story and the immediately prior Fanpost from elFurio, Wade has specifically noted that Sean Lee is not suited to the role. And an offseason favorite (hodge) is injured again.
So who is? I was curious as to your opinions. I am not convinced by Jason Williams. I was leaning towards Church, particularly given McCray is a ST guy who barely played on the normal D at college level and I thought he was a little smaller. But he is only 4 pounds lighter at 214 and he just makes plays. So he is my dark horse pick.
Butler and Brandon Willams have also shown some ability and it would be nice to get them on the field more but it would effectively be playing them out of position and I am not sure either of them have shown any great coverage ability.
