Report JETS/COWBOYS TRADE RUMOR - Reavis for Newman
Just saw this post on another site:
SOURCE CLOSE TO JETS GENERAL MANAGER MIKE TANNENBAUM STATES THAT TALKS OF A TRADE SCENARIO ARE TAKING PLACE TODAY THAT WOULD SEND DARRELLE REVIS TO DALLAS FOR TERRENCE NEWMAN, UNSPECIFIED DRAFT PICKS AND CASH CONSIDERATION BEFORE 5 PM CST TODAY.
Posted by: John Anderson
What do you think? Torn between the results. Newman has had his best camp ever, leaning more on technique rather than ability alone, yet, he is getting older. Moving "Reavis Island" to Dallas would help Cowboys tremendously. But what draft picks would we have to give up. Is the cost worth the reward?

My Romanian cleaning lady
mopped the floor in my apartment on Friday. When I arrived, the floor was still a little wet, and I swear I saw the outline of the Chargers’ Marcus McNeill reflecting on my hardwood floor. I immediately called Jerry and told him that.
Later I ordered a tuna pizza, and amid the onions, corn and broccoli (I know, I know, it’s an acquired taste) I swear to you that the Patriots’ Logan Mankins was grinning at me from the cheese-encrusted face of this delicious dish. I called Jerry again, but because he has caller ID he did not answer – I called Stephen instead to tell him the good news.
Of course, I did not touch the pizza. I put it into the refrigerator, right next to the toast with with the burnt-in image of Megatron in a Cowboys uniform next to Roy Williams in a Lions uniform.

just going to add what i read
to make it short: the Jets are totally fed up w/ Revis & his BS. they have offered him enough money to where it shouldn’t be an issue. it reads like they would be willing to find a trading partner just to end this drama & move the team on, its starting to take effect w/ the whole locker room. the story is on the 2nd/3rd page of profootballtalk but click on the red highlighted links to get the direct jets quotes.
also Jerry mentioned after the Crayton trade that they weren’t done making moves & implied something else was coming. its probably nothing but the Jets are in need of an OLB bc J.Taylor won’t get the job done & we have 2 guys V.Butler/B.Williams that could be apart of a trade w/ Newman.
also the jets aren’t 100% sure w/ S.Greene/LT as the 2 work horses so the smoke about barber could be more to it. we have multiple positions w/ extra depth & a wierd 53 man roster w/ only 3 CBs so who knows.
i’m just saying wierd things happen & Jerry always seems to be in the middle of them.
also i’m just speculating & bored so don’t get to bent out of shape but 1 thing is for sure we have a puzzling 53 man roster as it stands

This really is a fanshot
1. Check your spelling.
2. This is just a pointless rumor.
3.This shouldn’t be posted on the site, but if you find the need to do so please create a fanshot.
4. If this does happen it would be great for the cowboys imo.
False
We would have to pay him to be the highest paid corner in the league. I do not think we have the cap space for that but that might be another reason why we let Crayton go.
Oops
Methinks someone forgot this is an Uncapped year. We could go higher the entire NFC Pro Bowl team if we wanted. Jerry is a smart enough business man to know that you WANT the league to be competitive and you DON’T want to ruin that buy “buying a championship”.
by DaStarShinesBright on Sep 5, 2010 7:34 PM CDT up reply actions
That's not it AT ALL
Jerry is playing it smart… I mean, think about it… the cap IS coming back.. if we went crazy this year on FA and massive contracts, we’d be screwed next year, or when it does come back.
FEAR the STAR...it's all or nothing.... time to COWBOY UP.

I read this trade somewhere but can’t recall where. I read everything…everyday. Was it mentioned on the NFL network?

I'm Newmans biggest fan but
If this happened I would be so happy.
From the jets point of view perhaps they dont see him signing this year and they could get allot for him like….
A. A great corner in Newman who is old but hasnt played in this league forever. He just came out of college 2 years older than most. He should have 2-3 very highly productive years left. Hes a workout machine, great guy and most importatnly can play!
B. High draft picks
C. Money, nothing like cash money in a time like this.

Well...
I mean, if there was a guy crazy enough to acquire a pissed off all star CB that’s going to require a shitload of money to sign it’s Jerry Jones the year he hosts a Super Bowl. Also, if there’s a team dumb enough to deal Revis for pennies on the dollar it’s the Jets, just take that for what it’s worth.
i've heard the same rumor about the Jets trading Revis
but they wanted OLB & CB in return, not to add the $$ it would cost to sign him when we have our own players that need to get paid.
it would take V.Butler & Newman at the least, the jets need a pass rusher bad & not to add Newman we just paid Newman not long ago.
i won’t believe anything until i see it bc the rumor mill is full BS this time of the year
Move Over Sweetness, Make A Place For Emmitt!
Just the terms of the rumor should tell you that it's BS.
- Look at the trades that have been going down lately, even for top positions… All it took for Anquan was what… a 6th?
- Revis is unhappy. The world knows this. He intends NOT to play this year and be a FA next year. Therefore every team knows that if they hold out a year, they have a shot to land him and only give up a late 3rd in 2012.
- Due to #1 and #2, that means there is NO WAY this deal would involve more than a player and a late pick or possibly 2 players and a 7th rounder or something. Definately not 2 starters though.
Be smart guys, come on. Stop playing Madden before you make your posts :P

The Jets have Revis on contract for 3 more years (2010 - 2012)
If he holds out all year and they wanna play hardball, it is the same thing next year and the next.
He can not be a FA until the 2012 season is over.
Part of the reason they are unhappy with him is he already has $11M guaranteed from his $30M Rookie deal. Problem from Revis side is that deal was for 6 years not the normal 4, else he would be a FA next year.
i dnt v.butler would b enuff
a. spencer + t.new + d.picks make more since
and if it is more than a rumor thz is the reason y its stalling
ueah, i dont see revis commin here, id rather jerry go for broke on a very good guard or center trade !

yesterday i saw a weird human being on my house
he told me the world’s end is near and just will be stopped if the cowboys win SB this year

Seriously though, there’s now way in hell we get Revis in trade this year. If this was Jerry circa 1995 I’d probably say hell yes Jerry is crazy for not doing this.

Following a face-to-face meeting with Rex Ryan, Darrelle Revis has agreed in principle to a new contract with the Jets and will be on the field for their Monday Night game next week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Of course some faceless blogger could be more in the know than Schefter
Too bad tomorrow is a holiday.
Think how STOKED Mike Greenberg is gonna be on his show!
I dont believe (well I almost dont!!!) that even JJ is that insane...
As I read that post, I almost had to stop listening to a replay of the “Golden Oldies” replay Labor Day Countdown they are having on the radio…Then as I got to reading the comments and came across the OCC comment, I knew it was just plain old BTB wishing…I personally though do not believe that kind of pizza could ever become an acquired taste either…But I dont know everything Ill be the first to admit…I have heard that there are guys who chase after cars howl at the moon, and turn over trash trucks on their mayors lawn…
Anyway, since I have commited this time to give a personal reply to a fan post, and I read on, about all the other silly comments this post got, I gave some thought to players which I truly wish we could have traded for…1. Instead of just giving PCrayton to the Bolts for a 7th(possible 6th) round draft choice, why we didnt trade his whinning(but highly productive)self to the Saints to acquire Darren Sharper when we had the chance? We could have thrown in Bobby Carpenter, and a water cooler and gotten us a very service-able SS(??)…Even though he will be playing in the AFL, we still have to play the Bolts this year and the revenge factor their for Crayton will be a very substantial motivation to do well against us..JMHO
Being an UN-capped year, it would have been the perfect opportunity for JJ to dump Roy(and take his monetary lumps)…Or trade the worthless overpaid oxygen deprived outfit to someone for a service-able Tackle or Guard or possible center…Im thinking Jason Pierre Paul, or perhaps a safety the likes of Mayes from the 9ers…I mean we need him still like we need another rack of pink #9 jerseys…I mean pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking all aside the guy was a bust the moment he put on a Cowboys uniform…3 years of nothing ought to tell us something, and it should tell us his backside needs to meet the hot asphalt of a road out of town…
In my personal opinion, I think we should have traded, though economically I understand why we had to keep instead of Crayton, we should have traded Sam Hurd for at least a 2 year contract for the privelege of seeing the Cardasian girls in Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader uniforms…at the very least we could at least get to see some performance worth watching which we can conclude we will probably never see from Hurd…hes a bum, and needs to be shipped out…Hes been given adequate time to prove himself, and has shown me nothing so far…and Im sure 5blings and OCC would agree with this trade…those are just 3 of the trades I wish we could have made, and except for the water-cooler what we give up would have been more than adequate trade for any of these under-achievers…plus add the fact that we would be getting rid of a nuisance in Crayton also and a distraction in Williams, I believe we would still come out ahead…
Well, I guess its time that we all just huinker down, and reminisce about what could have been, what is and what is to come, for the next 6 plus days and counting until the opening day…I just believe in my heart that theym should declare opening day of the NFL season a National Holiday!!!,,,No Im serious, really, how cool would that be???…what day next to opening day of Hunting Season even comes close to instilling impatience and excitement in the largest bunch of American citizens than opening day in gthe NFL?…I mean they are even taking serious consideration in giving Oprah(overweight or not) her own Holiday…why notgive the day its just due?

actually the extension is just a smoke Screen
Now that they have a reasonable extension they can now trade him to what ever team they want. So stay tuned. Personally i would love Revis for Newman and Say a 3/4 rounder.
