What is with all the Lissemore haters?
Here is what Calvin Watkins has to say about number 95:
Sean Lissemore,
NTSalary: $368,600
Watkins: Somehow made roster. Not sure he'll be here long. Sell.
If you think Lissemore's stock is anything but a strong buy then you know nothing about football. Not to mention his primary position is DE! Sadly though Watkins is not the only hater. I've noticed many doubting Lissemore's potential, yet they completely ignore that once Lissemore got healthy he had strong showings in almost every preseason game he played in. I just can't understand where all of this hating is coming from. It certainly isn't based on anything rational as far as I can tell

In hindsight, I’m kind of glad that Jerry didn’t sell naming rights. It will always be Sean Lissemore Field at Sean Lissemore Stadium in my heart. For the statue outside the gates, they should add Lissemore to Landry’s shoulders. Greatest Cowboy of all time. Future HOF.

We're in the presence of such greatness
FutureSean has left so much heart on the field recording his record 254.5th career sack (of Brett Favre) that his ghost has started to prematurely haunt the stadium.

As we speak
Bruce Smith’s mother is building robots back in time to kill FutureSean’s mother before she is born.
Moms just seduced the killer cyborg.
And they conceived FutureSean.

First of all...
Stop listening to Calvin Watkins.
Second of all, I understand you really like this guy. That’s great. But for the rest of us, we have to go by what we see. Unfortunately, all we have — really — is one preseason against the Dolphins. In that game, against the Dolphins backups, he made a couple of good plays. He obviously did enough to keep him on the team, which is great.
He’s also an insurance policy for next season at DE, which is nice. But we can’t, at this point, unequivocally come to terms that this guy is the Next Great Thing.
Is it possible? Of course. Do I want for that to happen? OF COURSE. But we have to be realistic.

How about the San Diego game
Why do you all forget about that?
You guys act like he is a one hit wonder. But whenever he has gotten a chance to play he has played well.
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
Re: San Diego game
I’m pretty sure Lissemore came into the game in the 4th quarter, as Bowen and Dixon were the DE’s in the 3rd quarter.
Lissemore had 3 tackles. Here is the results of the tackles:
29-M.Mason left guard to DAL 49 for 2 yards (69-S.Lissemore, 57-V.Butler).
29-M.Mason up the middle to SD 21 for 1 yard (69-S.Lissemore).
29-M.Mason up the middle to SD 40 for 3 yards (69-S.Lissemore, 40-D.McCray).
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010082159/2010/PRE2/cowboys@chargers/analyze#analyze:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-playbyplay
Lissemore averaged two yards a tackle
Also keep in mind that San Diego had 4 run plays in the 4th quarter, and Lissemore tackled the runner for very little game in 75% of those plays.
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
Haha...
You’re going to force me to go back and track every play he was in, aren’t you.
Look, no one is doubting the fact that he’s made tackles when he’s played. Everyone wants him to succeed. But not everyone shares the same blind enthusiasm.
Right now, he has potential. That’s it. That potential is promising. But you can’t point to three tackles in the 4th quarter of a preseason game as a sure sign he’s going to be a grew starting DE in the NFL.

Word: "blind enthusiasm"
Blind enthusiasm is called fanaticism. If your devotion or enthusiasm is a biased thinking, it will be blind to difficulties, challenges and objections. Nothing will kill your credibility as fast as fanaticism. – Jonathan Steele
I'm pointing to his play in other games, I'm pointing to his superior athleticism and strength, I'm pointing to his college production, etc.
Yeah people were so surprised that he made the 53 man roster and not so surprised when all the other rookies did. Why is that?
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
I like Lissemore and hope you're right.
But…. you think he’s the next Bruce Smith.
Bruce Smith was the #1 pick overall in the 85 draft, Sean Lissemore was picked in the 7th round.
Does that mean that he can’t be? Nope, sure as hell doesn’t.
I just think that you might be overhyping him… just a tad. I mean maybe we could start with just comparing him to Aaron Smith first.
AFB Condensed- New name, same flavor.
Quoting yourself doesn't require your own name attached to it. I'm going to assume if there isn't anyone else's name attached it's yours.
It is just the air of greatness around him.
You guys don’t sense it? It follows him around, it permeates the field . . .
Oh, wait, that’s just an unwashed jockstrap.
Never mind.
If at first you don't succeed - blame someone else.

Because he barely played during the pre-season games
Nothing personal against Sean, but I didn’t know he even played, besides the final game vs MIA.
But I think that wearing #69 was a smart move. Because there’s something about that number that makes people take notice.

find this amusing...
i hope lissemore turns into a good player for us ..
havent seen enough plays to form an opinion one way or the other.
what i find amusing is that you are the same guy that wants to cut or replace gurode immediately..
even though we dont have a replacement for him as yet, save the costa remarks as the guy is still developing this season.

If you can't see why Gurode needs top be replaced then I don't know what to tell you
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
Why don't you just tell us? Because I can't agree with you at all.
Gurode is a top ten center in this league, even in a down year. The likeliness of finding his replacement in the free agent market is as bad as Roy Williams’ catching percentage. I know you don’t think he’s smart enough, but unless you are a coach, scout, or a center yourself, you should just drop the hate. Maybe Lissemore should quit playing defense, gain 50lbs, and learn to play on the offensive line? Because he won’t be starting on the defense for quite some time.

Based on his performance, and statistically,
No I don’t. But if you look at only in a stastical stand point, Ware didn’t deserve to be called All-Pro.
That’s the point I’m making, one off year doesn’t mean the sky is falling. If Austin only has 6 touchdowns and 1000 yards, but makes it to the Pro-Bowl, should we just give up on him?
by Alexcomestokill on Sep 8, 2010 11:53 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions
And Ware still had a good year
Gurode didn’t. In fact Gurode had a bad year.
Moreover, Ware is much younger. Gurode is at that age where players start declining.
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
Bad by league standards or yours?
I understand that he’s declining, and I agree with you on that. But he’s still much better than anything you’re gonna find this season. I like Costa, and I think he could have a nice future here, but there’s no chance he’ll be starting any time soon. Gurode has admitted to having a down season, and I would expect him to try and get back to where he was.
by Alexcomestokill on Sep 8, 2010 12:17 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
given his age it is unlikely it is just a down season
more likely indicative of a declining player
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
Gurode needs to be replaced asap
he’s no longer a top 10 center & he’s on the decline. i think our 2 weakest links on the OL are Gurode & Davis, thats considering Colombo returns/stays healthy. if you think Barron can replace Colombo then you’ll have nightmares after seeing him in a real game. the Rams aren’t in the business of trading decent OL when they got a 50 million dollar QB.
our whole starting OL is a question mark & our backups are useless so lets hope for the best.
Lissemore was great at W&M & he can play DE or NT but i think its way to early to say what he’s going to be.

Lissyyyyy = Quincyyyyy
I do like Lissemore too.
He went to William and Mary, which is about 45 minutes from where I live.
Here’s hoping that our Front Office uncovered a diamond in the late-round rough!!!
Is playing smart too much to ask?
There is very little to judge Lissemore on an NFL level
If he had played with the first team (and against first teams) in the preseason and made great plays then I would be on the bandwagon too, but we just haven’t seen much. We’ve seen him in the 4th quarter, against third team guys…in the preseason.
Gurode isn’t great, I don’t think he is one of the top centers simply based on watching him play. No numbers/stats, just play. Based on his play he doesn’t seem that smart.
I think I see what you're doing here, Lissyyyyy.
You’re convinced Lissemore is a hidden gem and will turn into a player for us, so you exaggerate and hype him to get our attention. And, I think we all hope you’re right. Just please tell me that your former screen name of Quincyyyyy doesn’t indicate that you used to have similar enthusiasm for Quincy Carter.
"Clothes make the man. Naked people have little to no influence on society."

Hey guys,
I’ve been researching google maps and I think I found the perfect street to rename after Lissemore. I think Collins would do nicely!
And I know there will be a lot of folks saying we should use Stadium Dr. but I just felt that would be a bit ostentatious.
What do ya’ll think?
Deaf as a stone, dumb as a Bohr.
If I weren't on the same boat...
As in liking the prospect that Lissemore is, I would be all over Quincyyyy-Lissyyyy’s talent evaluation skills…
For example, he’s been so wrong on Bright… And he continues to defend his case… A guy that has made the Practice Squad twice should tell you all that you need to know about a player’s potential in this always in need for talent along the OLine League… An undrafted Free Agent even beat him in order to get a roster spot… The Cowboys don’t have a Guard backup right now with Kosier down and Bright couldn’t make the team!
But I can see why Lissyyy likes himself some Lissemore… But citing plays that he made against 3rd and 4th string player are hardly a ringing endorsement… For the moment he should just stick to his measurables, those by themselves make him an interesting prospect that seems capable of playing in this League.

Viva México! Go Cowboys!
Re: Bright
You got it all wrong. All I said is he is just as good or better than Gurode.
Bright could still suck, but he would still be just as good as Gurode. It was more of an indictment of Gurode’s abilities than Brights. And I stand by that statement.
Please don’t twist my words into me thinking that Bright was a great player. That wasn’t what I was saying. So don’t put words in my mouth. Thank you.
Sean Lissemore = The next Bruce Smith
That's were we disagree, though...
I think that you also have the same problem that prevails around Cowboys Nation, the lowlights stick far too long while the highlights take a back seat.
As I’ve said, more than once, too, I don’t like Gurode and Davis, players that are THAT inconsistent and that apparently are incapable of giving top effort play in and play out aren’t the kind of players that I want populating a team for which I root for, but I can see their highlights and consider that they’re capable of playing AND that the team is capable of winning with them on the field.
If they are as bad as you have meant, then you have to tell me ONE thing: show me a team with 3 struggling starters (Flo, Gurode and Davis) along the OLine of a team that could be counted as one of the most powerful offensive units?
Arnold, almost 5 years of good memories, you'll be missed.
Viva México! Go Cowboys!
Yards, sure...
Points can be attributed to many reasons, for example a team that’s better run blocking in zones, 2 inconsistent guys in the middle, a Guard that shouldn’t be asked to power block, play calling, etc.
Now, could you please respond the question?
show me a team with 3 struggling starters (Flo, Gurode and Davis) along the OLine of a team that could be counted as one of the most powerful offensive units?
Arnold, almost 5 years of good memories, you'll be missed.
Viva México! Go Cowboys!
Do you think our redzone troubles could be attributed to our offensive line?
and I’m pretty sure the team with the most points wins the game. Not the team with the most yards.

Maybe Gurode whipped him too many times in The Pit during camp
That could explain all the Gurode hate. Classic case of sour grapes.
