Where do you watch the Boyz?

I have found a home in Washington DC where Boyz fans come out in droves. . .the bar/restuarant is called Mezza Luna and is on 19th and M in the District.  To watch, it is essentially required to be in a jersey or other Boyz gear and the owner of the bar/restuarant is a HUGE Cowboys fanatic like all of us.

This 'home' got me to thinking. . .what other cities that aren't called Dallas have Cowboys bars where we could meet up as a collective fan base.  I thought this would be a great forum to share "Where you watch the Boyz" each and every Sunday/Monday.

Now, I realize that many of us sit at home and watch the game in solitude (I used to require this same atmosphere) but joining with other fans in a passionate yelling match and high fiving afternoon in front of multiple screens has me out of my den and in the bar even for the draft each spring.

For those Cowboys fans in DC that are looking for like minded fans, drop by Mezza Luna but call in advance to make reservations unless you are comfortable standing in the bar with the masses.

For those outside of Dallas/DC - where do you watch?

Cool

That’s within (long) walking distance of where I live, although there’s plenty of sports bars near here. If I wasn’t juggling graduate school and a serious girlfriend, I would be checking it out.

I'm in Philly too...

Since apparently we don’t have a bar here (stupid birdwatchers…) we should get a few fellow fans and take one over! I suggest Buffalo Billiards in Olde City, there’s usually a few of us in there…

Never really liked watching the 'Boys in bars

I have be able to to dvr it so I can start late (to skip commercials) and rewind/rewatch plays whenever I want. I also like to be able to hear the tv. It’s hard to really concentrate on the game with 50 drunken dudes screaming all around me. Plus the drinks are cheaper. Though it is truly awesome knowing that there’s a ’Boys haven in the heart of darkness.

I'm in New York (as you may have guessed from the screen name)

So I truck it down to the Cowboys’ Meetup Bar (Stone Creek at 27th and Lex) to watch it with the other ex-pats.

I skipped Thanksgiving Dinner last year and spent the afternoon in Stone Creek. . .

My girl’s family isn’t into football and do not have cable television (young kids). So, I just told them I wasn’t eating with them. . .needless to say – I wasn’t very popular with the in-laws.

I like Bar 108 and the Pour House in NYC.

Not Cowboys bars. Solid sports bars though.

by Fan in Thick and Thin on Sep 9, 2010 1:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Which Pour House?

I’m a big fan of the one on 108. I’ll probably catch a few early games there instead of going all the way down to 27th.

hows the parking situation around Mezza Luna?

by DavidLaFleur on Sep 8, 2010 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

It's Right Next to DuPont Circle

Parking is very tough there. On the other hand, it’s only two blocks away from the Metro, so if you can get on the train, you don’t have to worry about drinking and driving.

Safer for everyone if I stay home

I tend to get a “little” fired up and fist pump at the tv and have actually had my kids think I
was going to punch the tv. Plus like Stephan said I am addicted to the dvr aspect of watching games. Does anybody know where I could watch a replay of the games. I am in the U.S. Air Force and currently deployed in the middle east, so I am at the mercy of AFN (American Forces Network) as to what games they show.

NFL.com

Offers a replay package on the internet. You can watch all the games after they are over. The price is reasonable, although I always thought it was like paying to read yesterday’s newspapers.

by kindablue on Sep 8, 2010 9:19 PM CDT up reply actions

Don't you lie to the good folks.. you love AFN!

Veetle.com worked for me the last time I was over.. not sure if it’s been blocked yet though. With a ton of Googling I was usually able to find a stream worth watching. Now that I think about it, www.cowboyszone.com will put up the full games available for download, so it wouldn’t be too bad with the time difference by the time you got it. Good luck, stay safe brotha.

NFL Network streams online.

I have seen parts of the Cowboys/Mia game from last week 3x so far this week just flipping on Veetle.com and looking at the NFL Network channel. I also caught last years superbowl late one night.
I work relief for the govt and my shift/plant changes sometimes several times a week. Plus I am up in South Dakota and it is all Vikings here. So if I want to see any Cowboys action I check the streams online. They list them on the open threads for all games.

Hennessey's on 24th street in San Francisco

They have NFL Sunday Ticket. Fans of every team infiltrate the bar. My buddy (a sheagles fan) and I have the main tvs on lock down, I always make sure the Cowboys game is always on one of the tvs at the bar itself. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they do an all you can eat bbq of sausages, dogs, burgers every Sunday. Great times. I’ve basically gone there every Sunday morning/afternoon for a Cowboys day game and during bye weeks since 2007.

It's only a dream till you write it down, and then it becomes a goal.

I watch the Sunday games on Monday night after work

And the MNF game on Tuesday night after work.

With the time difference down under the early games are in the early morning here and the night games are mid-morning on Monday. For some reason work doesn’t think watching some stupid game with pads, that stops all the time, is a good enough reason to skip work on Monday morning.

The upside is that I get to fast-forward through all the ads, stoppages etc. I can get through a game in less than 2 hours without skipping any of the actual action.

I don't think so - Although most are on Foxtel - so you need cable

Between Foxsports, ESPN and Channel Ten (ONE) – and with a Thursday game and two MNF games – I believe there are around 8 games live on Oz TV this weekend.

I have the NO game recorded, will watch the Boys and probably the Eagles and GB (as key competition for the Boys)

The Grand Slam in the Hyatt in DC

also has a large Cowboys contingency… it’s where I watched the non-televised games before I got Sunday TIcket last year.

Grand Slam is awesome because it’s one side Cowboys, one side Redskins, and fans of other teams sprinkled in between. Food was good, drinks were ok, a little watered down… prices not too bad.

Now I got the Ticket… and I never leave the house :)

I keep track of them

In Baghdad Iraq watching AFN. They aren’t on every week, and neither are my Saints, but most of the time, I can either catch the Cowboys or the Saints on AFN over here. Incase you are wondering, my Fiancee is a Cowboys fan, so I do keep up with them for her. Also, I am sending her and her Dad to the Cowboys/Saints Game in November. I was not a very good fan when the Cowboys beat us in the Dome last year, and decided I am done going to games as a punishment of sorts to my behavior in the first half of that game. I would rather send her and her Dad to enjoy the game together than go myself. It also seems like every time I go watch the Saints play in person, they lose. The only time I have seen them win in person was when they played Green Bay in 2008. Part of the reason I joined this blog has to do with the Loss we suffered to Dallas last year. During the offseason I began a quest to be a better fan, win lose or draw, so that one day, I can again allow myself to go to games in person, and hopefully, one day take her to an NFCCG between the Saints and the Cowboys. I would like to thank everyone that has been so accepting of me so far. If it ever seems like I am trolling, please say so. I do not intentionally troll for anything, but I do have my own beliefs about certain things. I will not intentionally come to your blog and try to start any trouble or make any personal attacks on anyone. I only ask for the return of respect that I show. Oh, and one more thing, don’t expect for me to come in here the week before the game and try to talk smack with you. I will be in Arkansas on a hunting trip with my son for most of november. If the Saints win, I will come in here and still be respectful, but if the Saints lose, I will come in here and take my lumps. I expect this year to be a better game though.

And I am sure after the game last night, we will become the underdogs in a few more games. We made a lot of mistakes. Nothing that can’t be corrected, but man was it a togh game.

At home with the HDTV and HD-DVR

Before I got NFLN I’d go down to Fox and Hound for those games. A lot of fun, but I’d rather be able to hear the game, rewind when I needed, pause for the restroom or kitchen breaks, and FF through commercials. Plus all the beer and food is on the house.

A little bit of a tangent but . . .

Does anyone know of a site that accurately lists which games are shown in which markets? I’ve found my “guide” and the local broadcasters’ sites are often wrong. If the Cowboys are shown locally I watch at home, but if not I have to head out to a bar (trees prevent me from DirecTV at new place s won’t have it for first time in years).

by Blammo on Sep 10, 2010 11:56 AM CDT reply actions

After last night probably in a cave that has a Direct TV hook-up.

After breaking a couple of antique Chippendale chairs, I doubt that my wife would allow me to watch at home.
