Fantasy question?????
I've decided to turn to this website because i know people here are intelligent enough to answer my question correctly. I need to start 2 RBs on my fantasy team. I'm going to be starting Mendenhall, and i need to decide between Best,Spiller,or Jacobs. Who would you decide and why?
Also, what do you think about my team? Should i keep it the same or go ahead and propose a trade to somehow upgrade? What are some moves i can make?
QB-Rodgers,Orton,and Ryan
RB-Mendenhall,Spiller,Best,and Jacobs
WR-Wayne,S.Moss,S.Smith(NYG),R.Williams,Gaffney,and M.Williams(Tampa)
TE-Celek,H.Miller
DEF-Philly
K-Tynes
2-QBs,3WRs,2RBs,1E,1DEF.,1K,5BN
Iknow i know i know......What's with all the players from our rivals, What kind of a fan am i? LOL-hahahaha. Any help will be well appreciated, thanks.

Not Jacobs
Bradshaw will get the touches for NYG @ rb
Its a toss-up between Best and Spiller; prolly can’t go wrong here.
Be careful with Spiller...
Chan Gailey already said he isn’t going to throw too much on a rookie running back the first couple of weeks and will be limiting his touches, and even though Fred Jackson and Marshawn have been banged up, Spillers’ workload will be light until he gets his feet wet. I think with less options in Detroit at the RB position, you might be better off with Best.
Thanks man
But i have one question, back in 08’,Jacobs and Ward both ran for 1000 yards and he got 15 td.’s. What are the possibillities of him bouncing back to this old form he had just two years ago?
Jacobs may return to form
but I wouldn’t think so on game one. However, there’s always the chance that Bradshaw runs a bunch and gets them near the goal line and then Jacobs comes in and punches it over.
I read somewhere Ahmad is already even the goalline back too
They like his decisiveness and quick feet better. But maybe Jacobs comes out with a chip on his shoulder
Definitely a toss up between Best and Spiller
Both Miami and Chicago are solid against the run, so none of the matchups are easy.
But I lean towards Best, probably because I also own him lol

It's close, but I would lean towards Spiller
Given that Jackson and Lynch have been hurt, Spiller should get extra touches. It may change by week 2. Plus I think Chicago is a little better versus the run than Miami.

In Week 1 and 2 always select talent over matchups
Defenses change like crazy from year to year. Last year’s lions can turn into hello kitties and vice versa. So pick the players you think have the best talent.
Then, at about week 3 when we’ve seen enough from the teams, start adjusting based on matchups.
Also, I don’t like to trade until a couple weeks in either. Everyone loves their team right after draft day. Also, as we all know, pre-draft rankings can be absolutely WRONG! How many leagues saw Matt Forte taken with the 3rd overall pick last year as Ray Rice slipped into the 4th round?
The picture will start clearing in the first couple of weeks. You’ll know who you want to go after and managers who are holding the Matt Forte bag will be more motivated to deal.
So true....
Thanks for the insight. You are right about people loving there teams right away. I just try to get the trades right away because i know of some sleepers who will have better numbers than big name guys. I think S. Moss will have a big year this year with Mcnabb but i’m not so sure with S. Smith with Nicks coming back healthy. How can i pick up one more Good wide receiver to go with S.Moss and Wayne. I’m aiming for H. Ward, R. Moss, D. Driver, R. White.
Some good sleepers (or people who are not established as big fanatasy value) are....
Mike Wallace, Malcolm Floyd, Jerome harrison, Dez, etc.
I would try to find another RB. Mendenhall is solid but Best and Spiller are rookies behind suspect lines and Jacobs just hasn’t been that good recently.
Wayne, Moss, and Smith are solid starts at WR. I would try to trade one of the others for a RB and throw Jacobs in the deal to. He’s a high risk high reward type guy who could run for a 1,000 yards and 10 TD’s or 500 yards and 5 TD’s. You almost have to plan on him missing 2 or 3 games to.
Otherwise pretty solid team depending on how many people are in your league.

nobody is asking the important question
is this a standard scoring league, or point-per-catch… do individual players get points for return yards and TDs, or just you defense…
that changes the outlook on which players are worth more. If you are PPC and return, then Spiller should be a better bet than Best, but if not Best will have more pure running numbers.
IMHO, you are wasting a roster spot by having Heath Miller. Unless something drastically changes with his production- you aren’t going to be able to trade him for anything worthwhile down the line, and with Kolb being a first year starter, expect to start Celek every week of the season except for the bye week. That’s more draft advice though, as you could have drafted someone that could help you more.

my choice, CJ Spiller
I own him in more leagues then Best, I think that Bills need to run heavy, their passing attack is not a good option…for exemple Lions with Stafford, Calvin, Burleson, Scheffler could pass quite lot if running game with bets is not ok…
and Jacobs is not option…
before there was law, there were the Cowboys!!!
May I vent?
Just wondering if any of you share my frustration. Last night I finished my fourth and final fantasy draft. In two of those drafts I am the only Dallas fan. Going into those drafts, I knew the guys who bust my chops most about the Cowboys would take some players even tho they constantly hate on them.
So I adjust and target other players. The thing that kills me is one took Dez in the 5th and the other snagged Witten and Felix back-to-back in like the 5th and 6th. Just after the draft I get a text (right on cue) saying “give me an offer I can’t refuse”.
Thanks for listening,

Oh I share your frustration
Im the only Dallas fan too, surrounded by Niner and Raider fans. Everytime I’d pick, they would yell, “here comes Romo!”“here comes Witten!”
Then one guy, who’s a monster Niner fan, grabbed Witten and said he’d try to trade him to me “for a price.” Well the next pick, I took his precious Vernon Davis. and I was still able to get Miles Austin in that league. I win.
awesome dude

Nice.
Yeah, me being from NorCal and all, most of my opponents are Niner/Raider fans.
Personally, I make maybe one trade a year. So I think it’s ludicrous to draft a player just to trade him to someone who follows that team. It often causes them to reach. Bogus.

There are Cowboys fans here and there, which is OK. But wall to wall plasma TVs and the fact that it’s two miles from home make it great!

NorCal here too. It’s funny that my friends wanna get on me for my man crush on Austin, but it’s cool to draft Crabtree in the 4th.

I have the same problems. Everyone seems to hate the Cowboys until it comes time to take their players and they always seem to get overdrafted. In my league Witten went in the 3rd round, first TE taken.
Witten is solid and all, but he's not a double-digit point guy week in and week out.
It’s weird when he goes before Gates.

I set up my league on ESPN so I could custom score but even there he was ranked 4th for TE, behind Davis, Clark, and Gates. His biggest issue is that he doesn’t catch many TD’s.
If there is one thing I like about ESPN, it's their FF format.

I’ve been playing on Yahoo for a few years now, so that might have something to do with it. But I finally caved and played in an ESPN league with a friend last year. And I didn’t think it was all that.

I hear you Aaron
I NEVER draft the Cowboys. If one falls to me, I grab him. For example, I got Miles Austin in a couple drafts because he was sitting there in the 3rd round. But outside of Miles I have no Cowboys anywhere on my 3 teams.
In my last draft, I was the only Cowboys fan. In the 9th round Arian Foster was still on the board and someone drafted Tashard Choice! Are you kidding me?
It’s crazy how overvalued fantasy drafters consider Cowboys players.
by Blue Eyed Devil on Sep 9, 2010 2:35 PM CDT up reply actions
We can use that to our advantage I guess.
Damn good value for you there on Miles and Foster. I think I took Foster in the 5th last night.

Especially with deep fliers
How many people had Dez Bryant as their prime WR flier pick? In the past I used to see Patrick Crayton taken in the same range. I love that they all focus on guys like that.
That allowed me to draft Sidney Rice and NYG Steve Smith in my late rounds last year.
It sucks because you can’t get the guys I root for on Sunday, but the overdrafting of Cowboys leads to opportunities elsewhere.
by Blue Eyed Devil on Sep 9, 2010 3:54 PM CDT up reply actions
And there use to be that stigma about drafting rookie WRs.

'Boys RBs are hurting because they are doing it together
Unless 1 or more is injured, none of them can really be considered Fantasy Studs.
But right now the rankings alot of places have them too high considering the OLine issues and the fact that they are RBBC. I noticed in both of my fantasy drafts that guys all around them in the rankings were being taken (Felix and Barber that is).
Other guys I have noticed that are really slipping compared to rankings are Michael Bush, Ronnie Brown, and Matt Forte.
I took DMac like in the 12th round!
