I don’t think he’s going anywhere, because really… Who’s going to give up anything worthwhile for the Cowboys to deal him? Choice is a nice role player, does everything “OK.” Runs OK, catches OK, blocks OK, does nothing great. The problem is that he regressed this season. NFL teams want to see consistent improvement. I’ll think they’ll see him as a guy that’s a really solid backup with a low ceiling – there isn’t a huge market for a guy like that. That fumble against the Redskins Week 1 really ruined Choice’s season. Garrett didn’t trust him after that.
I agree with pretty everything you said.
He has more value to the Cowboys than anyone else. So unless the Boys draft a couple of real good backs, I can’t see Choice being gone at this point. There’s no way he improved his trade value like Fraley said. Barber’s the back that I think is gone.
Yeah, I like Choice and Jones, and I think it should just stay that way.
With Felix getting the bulk of the carries.
We have way more pressing needs than trying to fill another void left by getting rid of another RB, when it looks like Barber wont be here either
You aint been around in awhile, maybe you haven't heard........I don't shine shoes no more
Don't forget the source.
Fraley has been on a personal vendetta against Barber for years, and for all anybody knows may have extended it to Choice as well. That’s the problem with making it personal: how are you going to take anything serious by this guy that even remotely touches on his personal issues with Barber?
Anyway, how’s that going to work – cut Barber and trade away Choice for what, a sixth? Where’s the next RB going to magically appear from? What a piece work.

Choice Regressed?
Well isn’t that a little preliminary as far as asessments? The money they are paying Barber, do you really think Tashard would get significant time on the field? If he did get time, it would just be salt on the wound, him showing the organization what a bad decision it was to pay Barber the money he got for basicaly one great season, and that on a part time role to boot. For all we know, Julius had more to do with Barber’s success than we may have first thought.
And since Jimmy K mentioned that Tashard regressed after his first fumble ever, I wonder if anyone feels that Felix regressed after his fumbles?

I dont think he regressed
as much as Garrett’s confidence in him regressed. I hope a strong offseason changes that.
I didn’t say “he regressed after his first fumble.” I said that fumble ruined his season because Garrett lost trust in him.
I think he regressed because… well…
2008 – 5.1 ypc
2009 – 5.5 ypc
2010 – 3.7 ypc
…he regressed.
that is explained very simply JimmyK....
the O-line Regressed…not the Running Back….
Jones Barber Choice
2008 8.9 3.7 5.1
2009 5.9 4.4 5.5
2010 4.3 3.3 3.7
As you see all the Dallas RB’s suffered in ypc as opposed to years past not just Choice
formerly I draft the Cowboys!!!

Well I won’t argue that the OL regressed. There’s no doubt there. But is it possible that not just the OL but all 3 RB’s regressed as well?
It is possible, but occam's razor says the o-line is the culprit

if you are going to argue that all 3 regressed..
then I don’t agree. I think Felix was as good as 2009, he just didn’t have the big holes to run through that got him the big yardage runs.
I mean seriously...
I know you watched our games. You truly believe that Felix and Choice were part of the problem when it came to running the ball? I’d beg to differ. The OL opens up NOTHING for them.
I agree with you when it comes to other areas of TC’s game (which are important for a 3rd down back), but not when it comes to running the ball.
I agree with JimmyK
I think he gets a little too much praise here. When he starts, he plays very well. I won’t argue that. But you need role players on a team too, not just starters. This season, in situational PT, Choice fumbled in an inexcusable situation and displayed relatively poor pass blocking (especially compared to Barber). I know in previous years he has proven he should get more PT, but this year he did not.
Dear JimmyK
I’m not trying to put you down for what you said about Tashard, and if I offended you, I’m sorry. I just find it hard to believe that this running back, who has done nothing but be productive, should be labeled as “Regressed” based on a play that was not his mistake to begin with. The offense should have taken a knee.
But instead, because the offense was “punchless”, and “ineffective”, once again, as we had seen so many time leading up to that point, led to a desperation play, where Romo threw the ball in an undisciplined way. I don’t blame Tashard for trying to make a move on that play to get free and get yardage. Unfortunately, it did not work out, and it led to Tashard’s first fumble in the NFL. But to jump to conclusion by saying “regressed”, to me, seems like a reach. The offense has had trouble all along while Garrett was OC in establishing the run, so what would you expect out of our “3rd string” RB, whom by all rights should be our everydown back? Like I said, his touches are to few and far between for him to get any consistent “Rythym”, so from the aspect of “less touches”, I guess you could say he regressed, but you would have to apply that to the entire offense when you say that, so, there is more to it than just his performance specifically.

For being a closet Cowboy fan you usually have very good insight. It surprises me that you would say that all the backs regressed. If one back regresses it is usually the back, if all the backs regress it is usually the line.
i think MB3 is the one done in Big D & not Choice
it takes a lot of pressure off the QB with a running game & it also cuts down on the mistakes instead of just throwing it 50 times a game. anytime you can control the clock on offense it means teams have less time or chances to score.
the old saying “championships are won through defense” are true just about every year. a top 10 defense is a huge part of the final 4 teams playing for the right to the super bowl & the team that can limit the big mistakes will probably be playing in Dallas come Feburary.
we have a top 10 QB, skilled WRs/RBs but now we need a solid DL & OL so that the others can be effective.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth! Garrett & Ryan working as a team should create a physical environment at Valley Ranch that shows up on gameday.
