Here is a 7 round mock draft that I wrote up today. I went with positions of need for this mock and took players that fit the Cowboys mold. This is the first of many mocks I will be doing, this is version 1.1. Please feel free to discuss in the comment section and share your thoughts.
st Round-Cameron Jordan DE Cal- The Cowboys could go a variety of directions here, but they take a stud DL that can rush the passer and stop the run. Chris Canty like size, but with tremendous upside. Wanted to take Von Miller here, but for the BTB community I will take a personal favorite in Cameron Jordan. If fellow Golden Bear Tyson Alualu can go 10th overall, then Jordan can go 9th overall.
nd Round-Ahmad Black S Florida- Cowboys desperately need S help and Ahmad Black can come in and be a leader for you. A team captain on a good Florida football team, Black is a ballhawk but will lay somebody out because he can hit for his size. Durable, athletic, fast, and a born leader is everything the Cowboys would fall in love with in the war room.
rd Round-Marcus Gilbert T Florida- Gilbert is the versatile OL that the Cowboys like, he can play T and some G for you but he could come in and battle for the starting RT position. Good size and athletic enough to get into that second level and do some damage on the plays the Cowboys like their OL to be athletic enough for. Has the size, the footwork, and strength, just needs to coaching to get to the next level. Also can play G.
th Round-John Moffitt G Wisconsin- All the talk in Wisconsin and around the draft guru's is Gabe Carimi, but don't sleep on John Moffitt, and either will the Cowboys. Moffitt is a versatile OL the Cowboys like, he can play C and G. More of a mauler that uses his strength, the Cowboys love the value of Moffitt in the 4th round.
th Round-Alex Wujciak ILB Maryland- Cowboys need depth at ILB with the release of Jason Williams earlier in the season and Keith Brooking getting up in age and it showing on the playing field. Wujciak is the perfect thumper Jack 3-4 ILB and can be a future starter in time.
th Round-Curtis Marsh CB Utah St- Cowboys get a developmental CB late in the draft with alot of upside. Good speed and ball skills and with the size the Cowboys need.
th Round-Bilal Powell RB Louisville- A late bloomer Powell performed at a high level as a senior for Louisville. Powell is a tough downhill runner and could become our short yardage back as it looks like we won't be needing the diminishing skills of Marion Barber, and his bloated contract. Powell will go late because he is a late bloomer and didn't become the starting RB until his senior season. Good value here, also the Cowboys could look at a kicker in the 7th round.
