Cowboys Re-Sign John Garrett

John_garrett_resigned_medium

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed coach John Garrett as tight ends coach and passing game coordinator. John Garrett, Jason Garrett's older brother, was in Miami earlier this week interviewing for the offensive coordinator vacancy.

Jason La Confora from NFL.com reports that while John Garrett was being considered for the role in Miami, the Cowboys preempted the Dolphins' decision by signing Garrett today.

While Jason Garrett will retain the title of offensive coordinator, John Garrett has been elevated to passing game coordinator in addition to his duties as tight ends coach. It stands to reason that the Cowboys will at some point also name a running game coordinator. Todd Archer from ESPNDallas points out that this is not unprecedented in Dallas: under Parcells, Sean Payton ('05) and Todd Haley ('06) were passing game coordinators while Tony Sparano was the coordinator for the running game.

LOL, good catch

At least we can safely assume the communication will be greatly improved. Also, it would be hard to not believe that John will follow Jason’s instructions and probably has the same work ethic and general philosophy of how to coach and how to coach-up.

Clean route running! What a novel concept. Catching drills! Another novel concept.

because their logic is

because Garrett didn’t want Sherman he should fire his brother as well. I don’t know, that’s what they said…they’re dolts…what can you do

Sounds like Sherman

must’ve been a deep-throat source for these slugs, judging from all the moaning about his leaving.

Keep doing what you been doing, keep getting what you been getting.

Sounds like they had a few beers with Patrick Crayton as well

he was b*tching and moaning, too.

seems logical

to me. Keep as much of the Offensive Assistants in place as possible. Our Offense is pretty darn good and it keeps the cohession of the staff in place.

Good point

We’ll have enough continuity issues to contend with on offense rebuilding our line. Defense, however, I’m all in with blowing up the defensive coaching staff and a few of the players. We need some damn hitters on defense.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
