The Cowboys earned the 9th overall pick in this year's draft after a season filled with injuries and coaching problems. Tony Romo got hurt in week 5. From then on his teammates seemed to give up as the season fell apart. With the hope of a Super Bowl berth at home gone, the fans had to focus on the one bright spot, the small glimpse of their future in Dez Bryant. The young wide receiver had a productive year and gave Cowboy fans something to look forward to until he got hurt, but like other players on the roster he will be back and healthy next year.
You can't have a competitive team almost every year without having a smart front office that knows how to draft and ink the right players. Some teams in sports history mess up in the draft every year. Jerry Jones will not let that happen to his team and will make the best pick at the number 9 spot. The majority of the fan base wants him to select a guy like JJ Watt to fill the gaping hole from last year.
My thought process was the same until I witnessed the Packers - Falcons game and watched how good Aaron Rodgers has become since taking over the position. Why shouldn't the Cowboys try the same strategy if Cam Newton falls to them? Sit him for a few years until Romo is out of his prime, then start him. It worked once, who says it won't work again?
