Dear Roy Williams,
You may recall that earlier this season, I wrote to you to officially congratulate you on a job well done over the first five weeks of the season (if not, you can look it up here: http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2010/10/17/1758404/dont-forget-to-apologize.) Not only did I notice your excellent play at the #2 WR position, I gave everyone on this blog the opportunity to apologize for an offseason of doubting and tormenting you. I even gave you the high praise that you were "one of the few guys who has done his job well, consistently, and without making the bonehead play at a crucial time to cost us the game."
Little did I know that you would misunderstand me and immediately set out to prove you were just as capable as your teammates of making boneheaded plays and losing games. In short, the second half of your 2010 season was even worse than your disaster of a 2009 season. In the process, you made me look like an idiot too, what with your disappearing from games, dropping passes, fumbling away sure victories, and such. You even stopped being an entertaining quote, choosing instead the ridiculous route of making predictions of 8-game win streaks, comparisons to Michael Jordan, and excuses about the system holding you back.
You did, however, continue to block hard and even try hard in other areas most WRs succeed in--like catching the ball and subsequently holding onto it. Trying is better than nothing, I suppose. And your arrival in Dallas did hasten TO's departure, so I'll always look on you fondly for that.
Sorry Roy, I was man enough to apologize when I thought I was wrong the first time, but now you're making me prove my manhood by again apologizing--not to you this time, but to all of those whom you and I fooled into apologizing to you in the first place (I doubt you followed that, but nevermind). I'm writing this time to wish you what I hope is a final farewell: may you have fond memories of that one glory year in Detroit, and may you find a soft resting place (say, Buffalo or Carolina) after we cut your sorry behind. Now get the heck out of here.
PS - to all of you readers that originally followed my lead in apologizing to Roy before he re-entered the Suck that was his Cowboys career, feel free to pile on below...
