Nnamdi Asomugha A Free Agent??

Looks like one of the best CB's in the NFL will be a FA. If there's a FA wonder if we'll be interested??

We need to get him. I don’t care if Jerry goes nuts and makes him the highest paid defensive player in the game. We have had too many issues at corner for too long and it needs to end right now.

I agree in getting him, but I have a follow up question.....

If we do sign him, what do we draft at #9?

Signing Asomugha...

shouldn’t eliminate drafting Prince or Peterson if they are available at #9.

Asomugha just means they can replace Newman without having to rush a rookie onto the field. Plus, who knows which Mike Jenkins will show up next season…the Pro Bowl fill-in from 2009 or the target from 2010? Then, there’s the scuttlebutt about Prince and/or Peterson possibly being moved to FS by teams that draft them.

I think things have to play out first.

What if the team is in on Logan Mankins and Asomough? They can probably only sign one of the two. If they sign Mankins, then I think Peterson/Amukamara/Jenkins are the targets.

If they sign Asomough then I think they wait on a top DL and if they don’t fall to 9 then they trade down for an OL. DL meaning Fairley or Dareus.

According to STATS LLC, Asomugha was targeted on just 33 pass attempts this season. He allowed 13 completions for 205 yards and no touchdowns, burnishing his reputation as a shutdown cornerback.
