Well its several hours later, my blood has stopped boiling, and i've finally managed to gather up the various pieces of my broken heart. I knew i should walk away, take some me time, recoup, recover, rejuvenate, some other r work that doesn't involve putting my fist through my TV, or spouting off all sorts of hate about this team I so affectionately refer to as mine.
So I did, I got away from it. I took a deep breath, check to see if the sky was actually falling, and shook my head in disbelief. My girlfriend kept reminding me that this was a game I thought the cowboys might loose; as if that would offer some kind of solace, like that was some magical cure all. I thought they could loose, and then they blew a 24 point lead, every thing ok right? Wrong.
This week we couldn't win in spite of our selves, I mean to take nothing away from the lions, they are a hell of a team, they have everything you need to succeed in the NFL, but like we've seen in our past few games, we have made crucial errors at inopportune time that drastically impact the momentum of the game. This time Romo was the culprit, not the sole reason we lost, but the back to back pick six's broke the spirit of this team. Jerry Jones said it the best, this team lives and dies by Tony Romo, his is the pen with which we will write this season. For two weeks he's been the hero, today he was the goat, but tell me this with 1:43 left cowboys compete a few balls, who didn't still have hope?
Some of you wont admit it, but most of you did. Hell, I did. I could totally see Tony driving down, a fade to Dez or a screen to Felix, and us again over coming. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. This week wasn't our week, it can't be every week. It hurts, hurts bad, but have no delusions, this is a good football team. You may not be happy with the outcome, but don't let that cloud your vision of this team.
This is an offense playing with fumes, with its biggest play makers hobbled or out completely. A defense that for the most part bottled up the top offense in the NFL, this is a team that can get hot in the playoff's and do damage. This is a team that can still strike teams down with the very sword that felled them today.
Jump ship if you'd like, shout from the mountains that you knew Tony wasn't the one, sure. Me? I'm gonna stay the course, choose to believe I've seen far worse teams fielded, and at the end of the day take solace in the fact that for better or worse and usually better, You live by the Sword, you Die by the sword. Hell at least we know we cant loose next week.
