Tony Romo, The past, the present and the future...tidbits from a rambling man

Tony Romo is our QB...this much I know.  Tony Romo has the ability to be a GREAT QB...this much I have seen.  Tony Romo has the propensity to make huge mistakes at pivotal moments of the game...this much is fact.

That being said, I think I finally have a grasp on Tony Romo and why he does the things he does...  As we all know Tony is a UDFA, which really puts a ton of weight on his shoulders, then he plays for the Dallas Cowboys, for owner and GM Jerrah Jones, and has the constant microscopic view of his rectum that the sports world reserves specifically for the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.  Can we say newlywed?  There's some pressure for you, right?  On top of all these external pressures he has to deal with a junky ribcage and punctured lung. I can truly say that Tony must have the entire weight of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium on his shoulders.  Then he has to deal with the negativity that "fans" like myself send his way.

I know that last thing doesn't affect him but, I like to think that somehow my opinion matters....(it really doesn't)

When Tony Romo came in for the Cowboys I was ecstatic...It was one of those days that I will remember as long as any other sports moment.  And he really showed me that he has the ability to be "the man" in Dallas.  Of course we have gone through a ton of bumps and bruises along this journey. Instability at coach, poor drafting, and injuries have all played a huge part in Romos past...

Presently, Tony Romo is a hero...he played with a cracked ribs and a pneumo...that folks is a big deal! I personally let myself overlook the great things he has done this year when he threw those three interceptions this last week.  I let myself overlook the fact that he is still a broken man.  That his ribs are not healed, that with those unhealed ribs there must still be doubt in that head of his.  So with that I feel like I have a better grasp of what is going on with Romo, and what needs to happen for the future.

Our future can not look too far forward with Tony Romo, maybe five years.  It is time to draft, and draft high.  I am not saying that we start the guy in the next two years but, with our recent QB history (Quincy anyone) we need to start auditioning QB's.  Maybe we get us any awesome back up, or maybe just maybe we get that guy that can give us 10-12 years and a couple of trophies.  And even this will rely on Tony Romo.  He will be a great teacher, a great sounding board...a great example of what young guys need to do.  He can be our future by winning games and teaching our future HOFer how to avoid those mistakes he made...
