After thinking it through in my head I ran the playoff simulator on espn.com and checked my math. If just 4 games go the Cowboys' way over the next 13 days they will officially clinch the NFC East.
- The Cowboys would need to win against Arizona and the Giants.
- The Giants need to lose to the Packers and Cowboys.
- The Eagles need to lose one of their next two games, both away, Seattle and/or Miami
That's all very realistic. The only reason Philly is still alive is because of their 3-1 division record. If the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles all finished 9-7, Philly would own the tie breaker. Of course this scenario is only about clinching as soon as possible.
I think it's really interesting that not even two weeks from now the 'Boys could officially clinch the division. Im sure the Giants will come to play when they meet the Cowboys regardless of their record. Dallas could very well have the chance to knock them out in week 14 and save everyone a lot of stress in the month of December.
