Fantasy Island: The Regular Season Concludes, Must Read Fantasy Football News
Week 14. You fall into one of three categories. Category One: Safe and Secure, playoff position locked for at least a week, patiently waiting on Week 15. Category Two: As long as I win, or score higher than Team X by Y amount of points, I've pulled off the miracle and anything can happen. Category Three: Yeah, I remember my fantasy league team; eulogy was about four weeks ago.
If your fantasy league has a championship game in Week 17, you should write your congressman. I remember when normal leagues extended that far, and then the tradition of real-life teams resting their starters in the season's final week became the norm and things changed around for rotisserie like a local Boston Market.
So what are your concerns heading into elimination week? Need some lineup advice, want to vent about your season gone wrong? Follow the jump for our BTB league standings, fantasy football resources and other good stuff.
For many of us, Week 14 is still crucial. I entered four leagues this season. One of them (my money league unfortunately) sees me long gone from contention despite being third in the league in scoring. Sometimes, those are the breaks; you catch every opponent on their best week. I've clinched a playoff spot in the BTB Dynasty League and I'm currently in playoff position in my other two ventures, including Fear The Star. A win and I'm in, but a loss sets me up to most likely throw myself into the not-so-exciting consolation bracket.

FANTASY FOOTBALL RESOURCES
We'll highlight some important notes, but you really need to read the entire columns that are linked below. Oodles of great advice, especially the Christopher Harris link.

NY Giants @ Dallas
Dallas gets back lead blocker Tony Fiammetta from a three-game absence due to an inner ear infection this week, and that's good news for DeMarco Murray. In Murray's initial four games as the Cowboys' feature back with Fiammetta in the lineup, the rookie racked up 601 yards and two touchdowns on 75 carries (8.01 YPC). In three games without Fiammetta since, Murray has 198 yards and no scores on 59 carries (3.36 YPC). In Week 13, the Cowboys started Murray but mixed in Felix Jones for an early possession and the two rotated the rest of the way. Jones out-produced Murray, though not by much. The good news for Murray is that he should again have the opportunity to establish the hot hand early, and Fiammetta's return improves his chances. The Giants also rank 23rd against the run, so this is a favorable matchup. ... I've kept a running tally of New York's deficiencies in tight-end coverage, and they resurfaced in last week's loss to Green Bay. Over their last five games, the G-Men have allowed six touchdowns and 41 catches for 496 yards to tight ends. It's good for an average weekly line of over 8-99-1. Jason Witten is up next.
At full strength, the Cowboys' passing attack is explosive enough to keep pace with the NFL's top offenses. Consider last week's 13-point game at Arizona a mirage. Miles Austin practiced all week and will resume his flanker-slot role, rendering Laurent Robinson all but a non-factor in fantasy. Robinson's shoulder injury is the nail in the coffin for his Week 14 start-ability. ... Dallas took all precautions possible with Austin's pulled hamstring because Robinson had been so productive playing in his place. Austin immediately regains WR2 value. ... In his last six matchups with the Giants, Tony Romo has completed 114-of-173 passes (65.9%) for 1,373 yards (7.94 YPA) with a 14:5 TD-to-INT ratio and two more rushing scores. The Giants rank 29th against the pass this year and will not have enforcer SS Kenny Phillips (knee) for Sunday night’s game. ... Giants-Cowboys has a 49-point over/under, the second highest of Week 14. Vegas clearly believes this game has shootout potential beneath the JerryWorld Dome. Austin's return won't necessarily make Dez Bryant a less desirable fantasy play. In fact, it may decrease the defensive attention Bryant faces. He's arguably the best bet for touchdowns on Dallas' roster Sunday night...Score Prediction: Cowboys 27, Giants 24

question:
with Bush @ Green Bay and Blount @ Jax , should I go with them or sub Gerhart and/or Spiller?
I did make an excelent choice in starting Brown though 33+ points baby
Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten

Now, if somebody doesn’t agree with that, that’s cool. I also don’t agree with the fact that I don’t have $10 million in my bank account. But the fact that I don’t agree with it doesn’t make it any less true.

yeah both Brown and Harvin have been pretty good this year
I am ticked off at myself though…I thought I saw that Harvin was inactive last week so I put him on the bench…
then he scores almost 50 points….SON OF A…….
I would be in 4th place if I had started Harvin last week…..

Inner Ear Infection???
Wow. That makes sense considering the symptoms, but wow this is the first time I’ve seen any real diagnosis. Glad that’s all resolved.
In terms of FF, I’m “enjoying” a bye in my money league and will squeak in my other league as the last seed if I hold up.
Would you start Miles or Robinson versus Giants??
Pirates Vs. Ninjas? Psh......Cowboys, baby.
I'd go Miles

not versus...i mean AFTER
after this week…moving forward, miles is the man, right?
robinson did his part but I can’t even find myself putting him in the flex over t. gonzalez.
Pirates Vs. Ninjas? Psh......Cowboys, baby.
um ask that question next week haha

lol fair enough...
it’s just…earning a bye is awesome and terrible simultaneously. i mean, i’m thrilled to have it, but damn i’m kinda underwhelmed about most games this weekend now. I know i could maintain a handful of ff teams but that gets out of control very quickly and with another munchkin due any day now I just didn’t want to get into that this year. at least my free league is interesting, as i’ve rolled with colt mccoy all year because of a bet.
Pirates Vs. Ninjas? Psh......Cowboys, baby.
barring any setback for Miles
Robinson will get targets closer to 5-6 a game after this week

DEN defense is tough
I picked up Barber for Fred Davis in two leagues, but only because I think he’s a great option Week 16 against GB, not necessarily for Weeks 14 and 15

I say Mike Williams because he has come on of late and jacksonville’s top three corners are on IR.

Question
first playoff week. Currently down 2 points (he had Wallace, I have Mendy.)
.5 ppr. Do I start Crabtree vs Peterson and ARI, or gamble on Lloyd on Monday (Qb issues?)
Crabtree
SEA is 6th in #1 WR DVOA against— their defense is a lot better than they are given credit for

Off-Topic
I didn’t make any off-topic comments last week, and a couple of guys didn’t get picks in on time for KD’s 10-for-10 contest.
So, don’t forget this time (cough, KD, cough).
Fear the Star!
Dude did you miss this?
Also, don’t forget to get your picks in for 10 For 10.

Actually, I did.
Sorry, KD, tan, and thebigham.
I read the article quickly and looked for a reminder note, and missed it.
Do I feel like an idiot!
But, at least, I haven’t missed getting my picks in his contest yet.
Fear the Star!
haha dont apologize
your note is the reason I went to the thread and made my picks.

you’re still in the Hall of Fame – as founder/owner, not as picker.

who is this KD guy you speak of?
and what is this contest?

Fantasy related, but not Cowboys....
I keep second-guessing myself with my 2nd TE spot. I have Hernandez (NE) on the bench in favor of A. Gates (SD). Should I leave it?!? Gronkowski has been eating the football for lunch this year and Hernandez seems to be taking a back seat. Its week 2 of the playoffs and I’m in 2nd by points with the same record as 1st at 9-4…
"It's not by chance that I bleed Razorback Red, it's what God intended for us all!"
I'd leave Hernandez on the bench for Gates, no doubt
we’re talking a #1 target vs a #3 target…

Thanks, That's what I was thinking too.
Fantasy stress must be getting to my head! Hernandez is solid in his own right, but unfortunately he is now taking the back seat a lot…
"It's not by chance that I bleed Razorback Red, it's what God intended for us all!"
I drafted him as well, with the train of thought that New E. would switch it up this year
nope… he’s getting left in the dust by Gronk

Ill take Tron Olive Wilde any day.
Though it would be cool to … a vampire so Kate Beckinsale is there, depends on matchups haha.
As for Penelope Cruz I hate hate hate her, after the way she treated George.
