Im a Dolphin fan but I catch most of the Cowboy games especially the primetime ones. Ive made some observations and Id like to see if true Cowboys fans see this too.
- Jason Garrett
Obviously being a head coach in the NFL isnt easy (and im sure things get alot more complicated when Jerry Jones is the owner). From the looks of things Garrett has made a few questionable decisions as of late that may have cost the team a few games. My take on it is that Garrett may end up being one of those "great coordinator turned head coach" failure. Off the top of my head you see guys like Wade Phillips, Josh McDaniels, Mike Nolan, etc. All of these guys got a chance at a head coaching position and for one reason or another ended up getting fired. But one thing they have in common is that they were able to fall back on what they know best and have found success in doing so. Phillips has worked a miracle with that Houston defense that was the worst in the league a year ago. Mike Nolan did a great job with the Dolphin defense a couple years ago and this year the defense has been playing great lately after struggling earlier this year. And I think with better offensive talent Josh McDaniels should be pretty successful in St. Louis.
Another thing I wanted to point out was that Tony Romos injury last year was a blessing in disguise for Dez Bryant. I say that because Jon Kitna was the best thing that ever happened to Dez as a Cowboy. It just seemed that Kitna had alot of faith in Dez. Without Kitna under center I dont think you wouldve seen plays like these...
I Dont see that same chemistry with Romo. Its almost like Romo looks for everyone but Dez. I understand that this team has plenty of receiving weapons. Witten, Miles, and Robinson. And I also understand Dez is getting a little more attention but that doesnt stop other top receivers from getting the ball. Going back to Jason Garrett I thought he was supposed to be a offensive mastermind, but from my limited view it doesnt seem like he finds creative ways to get him the ball. I mean Bryant is having a productive year but he has yet to really have that breakout game.
