I am a Gator Fan,
But I would not trade away Dez Bryant. I would just go and draft his old buddy Janoris Jenkins.
Michael Vick- $100 million
Nnamdi Asomugha- $60 million
Asante Samuel- $60 million
Desean Jackson- $0 million
Eagles spending a ton of money and going another year without a superbowl- PRICELESS
exact;y
draft Jenkins
Bruce Carter+Sean Lee=BRUCE LEE!!!!
RDD=REAL DEAL DEMARCO!!!!

that kid Mosley at Va Tech isn't to bad at CB
he might be slightly undersized but the kid just makes plays & can cover anyone. i was shocked to see how good he really was & would possibly get him in the mid rounds of the draft.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth. Sean Lee is a welcomed addition at ILB & Kegabear's prediction about Spencer looks spot on so far.
Ouch
Well first of all Fanshot
Second of all there’s no way you’re responding to this comment again
Third of all: Uhh Dez has HOF athleticism and hands, if he can continue to put it all together and run even crisper routes he’ll be in that discussion in about 4 years.
Joe Haden? Yeah….
I'm not saying Tony Romo is the reincarnation of the mythical Romulus. I'm just saying
I feel it's more Dez just getting serious about his conditioning and training
His playing style is balls to the wall which as you know lends itself to injuries. He needs to be in the best shape on the field if he wants to get away with that, he’s not as well conditioned as Terrell Owens, Michael Irvin, or Jerry Rice. He has that type of skill, he just needs to do that type of work.
+1
Dez wasn’t in great shape coming into the season & hopefully he learns how to become a professional before its to late.
great athlete & hands but his focus sucks

I like where you're going but a pressure lineman will
have a greater impact on the game than a cover corner or safety. Look at the Jets. Even with Reevis island, the Jet’s secondary can be abused. Further, when Reevis takes the no#1 receiver out of the game, the offense still has 4 other options. No amount of rotating coverage will help where a weaker no.2 corner is matched against a superior no.2 receivre and tightend.
+1
a better pass rush is needed or it won’t matter whos playing CB. they both go hand in hand but flaws in the trenches/olb are worse then the secondary.

lets sign
Cortland finnegan and laron landry next year, unless of course they are franchised

Thanks but no thanks...
Landry is terrible in coverage and Finnegan is too much trouble.
F**** establishing a culture, we need to establish dominance...
Get Laron Landry
Pass on Finnegan.
More important go after Marion Williams (we won’t be able to get him)
Then try for Jason Jones or Calis Campbell .
In next years draft
Trade 1 3 4 To get Coples.
Then when Jenkins falls into the second round (He will not get selected in round one no matter how talented he is. He smoked dope ) use 2 5 -6-7 . and 6 &7 next year to get him at the top of round 2.
Two player draft
Quinton Coples and Janoris Jenkins.
by Jonathan Stern on Dec 20, 2011 8:37 PM CST up reply actions
Or...
We could throw Dez in there, keep the 6-7 next year and draft for special teams!
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
The Cowboys biggest need is DE and CB
Most players drafted after round 3 don’t amount to anything
If the Cowboys had Coples and Jenkins they would be substantially better than Green Bay is now.
The Cowboys need impact players , not JAGs , Depth or lunch pail guys.

I don’t think we should draft Jenkins. Two Jenkins in the same defensive backfield? I’m not sure, but I think that would rip a hole in the universe. So we should just give the pick to Detroit. (That’s what we do right? Give picks to Detroit?)
So, we trade our 1, 5, 6, 7 rd picks and Dez for Coples (or was it Joe Haden? I lost track.), give Detroit 2 rd pick, use the 3 and 4 rd picks on players named Williams, utilize the 2013 draft for special teams. We won’t even need to sign any free agents!
Super Bowl here we come! Eat your heart out, Matt Millen.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
Well the draft is not a sure thing. But what I wrote would be one way to play it.
Risky yes but the pay off is a Superbowl quality defense.
by Jonathan Stern on Dec 21, 2011 9:09 AM CST up reply actions
Calais Campbell would be the best get in free agency.
Draft Janoris , a big nt and olb.
Rumor has it Sam “sonic boom 99” Montgomery may be turning pro. I hope not I want him to stay at LSU ( a little bias against him leaving). Howevaaa , this guy is a flat out baller with uber athletic talent. He plays de at LSU but would play olb in the pros. If he declares it will change the rankings of olb.

Jerry is the end all in Dallas.

AZ looking to resign Calais
Read yesterday where they are in talks with his agent on long term deal…both sides want so it sounds like he’s staying in the desert
Together, we WILL make it happen!

Too bad for us then. Imo he would be the most prized fa for the Cowboys.

List of best free agent DEs
1) Mario Williams
2) Cliff Avril/) Calais Campbell
3) Jason Jones
5) Kendell Langford
by Jonathan Stern on Dec 21, 2011 9:15 AM CST up reply actions
Avril could play OLB for Dallas
I love the idea of having him play opposite Ware.
Aside from Campbell, I don’t like any of the other options.
"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
Why doesn’t anyone here like Jason Jones?
He is a decent player . He is also athletic enough that some talked about playing him as OLB before he was drafted.
by Jonathan Stern on Dec 22, 2011 9:09 AM CST up reply actions
Coples would give the Cowboys both defensive line power and pass rush
Spencer isn’t great but we can get by with him if we have more defensive talent.
Coples and J Jenkins got talent.

if you think janoris slips to the second then you must be smoking better weed then me and janoris
by matt575 on Dec 22, 2011 4:09 AM CST via mobile up reply actions
Look at DEZ slipping all the way to 23. And DEZ didn’t do anything in particular.
Janoris did much worse than DEZ ever did. If DEZ can fall to 23 Janoris can fall to 38.This is a great year for CBs.

Gotta pass bigtime on trading Dez.
From what I understand there is great value all the way into the 3rd round next April to draft a corner. We could go disruptive force pass rusher in the first, corner in the second, OC in the third, and still have the best young Wideout in the game. Dez is going to explode soon, you watch. He will begin to dominate soon, and it could happen at any time.
We have the goal of winning Super Bowls. If you don't have that, find the door.
Jason Garrett
don’t get me wrong,i’m not saying Dez should go,but i think HADEN is worth it,forget about jenkins in the draft, guys got great talent but a peanut for a brain, ain’t gonna happen..i think with the emergence of robinson, you could look to make this deal..it doesn’t concern you the lack of chemistry between romo and bryant??…i mean Laurent Robinson walked in off the street, and looks like he’s been playing with romo for 10 years
Laurant is a 5 year vet.
He’s made all the mistakes and toiled down the depth chart. What you are seeing is a talented and experienced WR, that has learned how to make himself available to his QB. Dez hasn’t learned that yet. He has gotten by on immense talent his whole life. He knows that. He also knows it’s not enough in the NFL. He is working harder, and is going to become a much more rounded player. When Dez is a 5 year pro, he will be at the top of the league. He is going to win games for us. No knock on Laurant Robinson. I love the guy. Give Dez a chance and he will show you why he’s worth keeping. Would you trade Michael Irvin for Joe Haden? Because that’s where Dez is going.
We have the goal of winning Super Bowls. If you don't have that, find the door.

I second this.
But, to he honest, Dez has more natural athleticism and freakish playmaking ability than Irvin ever did. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Michael, but if Dez learns to put in half the work on the practice field and film room that Irvin did, he will be a HOFer. That’s a big IF but i don’t see that Hayden would have even close to the impact that Dez will.
Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

That's a good point
Dez has more natural ability than anyone I’ve ever seen at the position. I remember when Megatron came into the league. He was placed high on a pedestal. Yet he didn’t really scorch the league as a rook. For that matter, he didn’t catch fire as a 2nd year player. Look at him now. He’s at the top of the league. It takes time. But I have to say; Dez will be very fortunate to achieve what Michael did. When was it? 93? Micheal had 80 catches, 79 of them for first downs. He was the match that lit the fire. We’re starting to see that same mentality from Dez now. He’s giving those much needed fiery speeches on the sidelines now. If he does what Michael did, we’re in very good hands.
We have the goal of winning Super Bowls. If you don't have that, find the door.
Jason Garrett
Trust me on this
but if Dez learns to put in half the work on the practice field and film room
No one BECOMES a great student of the game. They either do it or they don’t.
"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
Laurent has spent time in the NFL
so he is naturally going to be a little better than Dez in only his second year at the hardest position to learn in the NFL. Plus the fact that teams are already doubling him and trying to take him away. That says something for a guy in his second year opposite Miles Austin and with Jason Witten begging for attention from DC’s. No thanks on Joe Haden, rather get a guy like Morris Claiborne this year or possibly Jayron Hosley

I would never trade a player for a player
unless they were the same age and had the same amount of time in the league, cuz I don’t think you’re going to get a younger player for an older guy

redskins- bought by Snyder, OWNED by THE Cowboys !
Ryan- If only i could get that kind of aggression from my. Hey! You gonna eat that ?
Texans .....stand tall and REP !
Uhhh...
No. Dez stays.
Say what you want about Desean Jackson, but at least he tries his hardest and never gives up...
sure would be nice to have a guy to put on the hakeem nicks desean jackson and jeremy maclin’s of the world, cuz i tell you right now,if i haave to watch ELI carve us up like that again,i’ll lose my mind
Trust me, I don’t think anyone enjoyed it. There’s really nothing we can do at this point though but just ride with the secondary that we have. Unless there’s some FA on his couch right now that can help, were stuck with what we have.

Dez for haden
Come on man really… how can you complain about jerrah jones as GM and then propose such a risky trade. We know what we have in bryant, do u know what haden has to offer? No way in hell

It is risky because once you propose trading a star they want off your team.
In principle the trade is not a bad idea but I would never even start up such talk.
Way way too risky.

maybe i should have clarified a bit better,i really don’t WANT to trade dez,it’s just i think that highely of JOE HADEN.this kid is the next lockdown corner, and with the receivers we have to face twice a year in this division i just think having a guy like that would be more beneficial than having a big time wideout,i mean we still have miles for a few more years and now robinson and murray along with witten and felix, thats plenty of offensive firepower…what we don’t have is a true lockdown corner ..and i believe HADEN is it…either way, love the feedback!!..
Is it just me or are the comments here particularly terrible and rosterbation at its worst?
First off, NO they are not getting Joe Hayden. There’s a few scenarios in which that could happen. If DeMarco Murray stayed healthy, like Clinton Portis, and produced quite a bit you could package him with a first round pick for Joe Hayden. The first round pick would have to be to get someone like Landry Jones or something, if they’re not sold on Colt McCoy (which I’m pretty sure they like him going forward) and ARE sold on a Landry Jones (or some other QB that falls) using an exciting young talent that can turn into an elite defender to get him and another useful piece is worth the trade. However, that scenario is about as unlikely as it gets. If they’re wiling to deal Joe Hayden plenty of other teams have a lot more depth and would love to have him.
I had a chance to watch him play
In high school (Friendly) and I lived near there and in high school. In both places Joe had the chance to play aggressively because he was always playing with a lead. In high school he beat Gwynn Park High School where guys like Kyle Arrington (who leads the league in interceptions) and Phil Taylor (DT for the Browns) came from, playing QB, PK, Punter, Safety and CB. At Florida, Joe was able to play aggressively because the offense was a juggernaut and the only way to play Florida was in a shootout so he knew passes were coming his way.
Joe is a great kid, but not an elite CB that we need. He’s not a hawk and that’s what our secondary needs. I’ll take Kyle Arrington over Joe Haden any day and I’ve been in both of their presences. Kyle is physical bigger and stronger than Joe and played/started at Safety for Hofstra from the day he got to practice as a freshman (he took a seniors spot and never let it go) — I followed his career because I used to work with his dad at our church and my godbrother’s father is the HC at Gwynn Park. Both guys are PG County natives, Kyle Arrington has the “hawking” skills of a safety and is a tremendous asset in coverage.
Joe is not a lockdown corner.

please fix the pass rush with a DL & OLB then find a CB. unless theres a top flight CB sitting there.
this offense needs another TE like Bennett that can catch the ball. pairing Witten with another legit threat at TE would put this offense over the top. a solid center would help Romo unless they feel the kid that backs up Costa is the answer. i think Costa could play Guard & be a backup center but i’m not sold on him as the future at center.
DL,OLB, a bigger CB, TE, C & finally a legit kick/punt returner. possiblilities in later rounds would be FB (no more softies like Chapas), ILB, Safety, etc
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth. Sean Lee is a welcomed addition at ILB & Kegabear's prediction about Spencer looks spot on so far.
Anyone that says dez should be traded should be banned from this site. Blasphemous. Kill yourself.
by matt575 on Dec 22, 2011 4:05 AM CST via mobile reply actions
No on trading Dez
Here’s the plan… position status… CB is a big need along with some DL Pass Rushing Specialist… and a Center. You don’t take away from a position you are satisfied with to fix one you aren’t. You look first to Free Agency as long as the cost does not sink the ship and then to the draft. You do not trade your young talent and should only trade a player if he becomes a negative factor on the team. I won’t get anyone’s reasoning for trading top players on your team for younger players you have no clue about. I don’t know how many rookie number first rounders that were absolute bust but I can guess the numbers pretty high. Yet, every year I hear trade Romo, Witten, Ware for some guy they have no clue can play in the NFL at all. Why do you think the CBL put a limit of Rookie Salaries.
