Cowboys vs. Eagles: Injury Update

PHILADELPHIA, PA - OCTOBER 30: DeSean Jackson #10 of the Philadelphia Eagles stiff arms Orlando Scandrick #32 the Dallas Cowboysduring a game at Lincoln Financial Field on October 30, 2011 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Eagles defeated the Cowboys 34-7. (Photo by Rich Schultz /Getty Images)

With the big game coming up this weekend against our division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, let's check in with the injury situation. First up, the missing. Felix Jones didn't practice today with hamstring issues. The Cowboys believe he'll play, but Sammy Morris is the next man up if the Cat can't go. Danny McCray is resting his ankle, and Kevin Ogletree has a knee issue from yesterday's practice, but expresses hope he'll play.

DeMarcus Ware and Jay Ratliff returned to practice in a limited capacity. Also limited in practice but likely to play are Mike Jenkins, Laurent Robinson and Kyle Kosier. Most of that is being careful with vets who have bumps and bruises. In Ware's case, it will mean new equipment.

Ware suffered the stinger in the Dec. 11 loss to the New York Giants and aggravated it early in last week’s win at Tampa Bay. He did not play in the second half and did not practice on Tuesday. With Wednesday’s practice focusing on the nickel package, Ware, whose 16 sacks lead the Cowboys, felt it was necessary to return to work even if he was limited.

The most important change Ware could make will be with his equipment. He was fitted for a stiffer neck roll on Wednesday to make sure his head does not get jerked backward and aggravate the injury. He wore his normal neck roll against the Buccaneers.

Full injury report, including the Eagles, below...

If NYG Loses

Felix plays. End of Story.

I wouldn’t be shocked though if they hold him out citing his “hamstring injury” if they win though. Easy fodder, looks plausible given his practice time this week, and no one can point fingers if they lose the game.

I want felix to play...

but sammy morris seems like a pretty violent runner. wouldn’t mind seeing him run over a couple of those soft iggles LBs…..

No game is meaningless when you have

A 8-6 record and a new DC and a new Head coach. And a owner who covets only one thing. No game is meaningless against the giggles that beat the living snot out of you earlier. No game is meaningless when you don’t even know who you are at the moment. No game is meaningless when your no granted anything in the NFL.

Exactly! There might be more meaning

in a 10-6 record than anyone is thinking about right now. We’ve discussed to rest or not to rest philosophies thinking in the short term. If you start piling up wins, who knows what the perception of this team is in the off-season (whenever that may be). If you’re an UFA and you perceive the Cowboys as a team that’s only a few players away because they showed some fortitude and WINS in the late part of this year, you might be more inclined to take an offer than if you perceive them to be soft and a long way away from making a SB run. Just trying to think outside the box of this season and what might impact our ability to sign some free agents this summer.

Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

It is meaningless.

If you play and get injured for nothing to gain and nothing to lose it’s meaningless.

Not true.

Was our week 17 game meaningless last year? I think not.

We didn't have Romo out there.

He was healthy enough to play too.

Check your facts

When did the Cowboys place Romo on IR last season? What date? Why? What was that statement he himself made in the spring of 2011 about just recently being healed enough to throw?

by tanstaafl on Dec 22, 2011 3:48 PM CST up reply actions

He was throwing on the sidelines.

All I know is even if he was healthy would he be playing that day? No. It’s not logical. If the Giants lose of course win at all costs, but don’t kill your season on a possible injury in a game that means nothing.

You're not getting my point.

There’s not a single reason to let our starters injure themselves vs. the Eagles for nothing.

Well many teams rest up their players week 16 and 17.

Why can’t Dallas if this game were meaningless?

by DCyanks21 on Dec 22, 2011 3:33 PM CST up reply actions

And a lot of those teams fail.

Ill give you teams that don’t rest, steelers, and patriots and they are winners.

NOT MEANINGLESS!

It has been discussed many times on various threads.

If Atlanta loses its last two games we would be the wildcard contender if we beat philly but lose to Giants. Likely no. Possible yes.

I don’t think the players themselves want to throttle back for this game. As much as Jason Garrett wants to push his one game at a time mantra, these guys have had this game circled on thier calendar every since they got pounded last time. No matter what happens, you will see the best effort possible from the players this game. They could still lose, but they will go down fighting hard.

Don't matter who plays.

Cowboys lose this one 35-17. Tony Romo goes back to his old hat tricks that fans are used to. Merry Xmas Eagles.

Oh my bad...

This is the troll that predicted the Giants would beat Dallas by like 35, and then showed up after to say how right he was.

Oh and he said that the cowboys can’t win if they try to have plays of more than 4 yards, or try the hurry-up, because it only causes Romo to throw picks faster. I still don’t get that one…

its pretty disgusting…. i hope for his own sake that he’s a troll/Eagles fan, thats much better.

Yeah it is

I just don’t get how it would even be enjoyable to constantly predict failure. Going back and looking though, it appears that he only shows when Dallas loses or for one of his wildly outlandish predictions for a loss.

IMO that fits troll pretty well.

This is the post you mentioned.... I laughed out loud then realized he was serious

“this is the secret. The Cowboys need to go for four yard increaments on every play. Just 4 yards, keep moving the chains till they score. Don’t worry about how many passes Austin, Bryannt, Witton or anyone else catches….4 yards only.

He's a troll

If you skim through his other posts, he’s always predicting failure. Some insecure, rabid Cowboys hater trolling through BTB.

Especially since Romo is playing probably the best in his career right now

I think he has 22 TDs and 4 Ints since the Detroit game. If that isn’t good enough for somebody, odds are nothing will make them happy.

Thanks for posting that

I thought it was hilarious in the beginning when the OL was running on the field. “Come on fat guys!”

And Romo asking if he could spike the ball was cool too. Didn’t want to take a dumb penalty and hurt the team. Smart guy.

Maybe my favorite Cowboys vid I've seen in a long time.

Romo is in complete command with this team. Personally, my favorite part was when he complimented Garrett for the Bryant TD and then kept saying “hell of a job, hell of an effort” to his teammates – which is a Garrett thing. Just reinforces that this team is buying into what the coach is trying to sell and their leader, one Tony Romo, is first in line.

I love it. This kind of thing reminds me to “stop worrying and love the Star”. :)
