Depressed and Blue. Merry Xmas.
I'm thankful for Xmas. For family. And especially my son. Looking forward to seeing him get some cool presents tomorrow. He should have a good day and a Xmas dinner to follow. He's just falling asleep. And I'm writing here feeling something between despondence, disappointment and depression. I had to shut it out for awhile as I was at a Xmas Eve dinner get together during the 2nd half, which I largely skipped until the game was over. They knew that was the deal ahead of time. I started reading some here and just walked away from that. Maybe after. Thoughts walking through my mind. And 8 days to go until there are some final answers.
Is Romo okay?
Is Sean Lee okay?
Is Felix Jones okay?
Terrence Newman. Ugh. Seriously. Ow. It's like he's aged forensically in front of all of us over the last month.
How do we feel after that game? I feel like roadkill. Even with all the excuses built in, there is no way to feel good. We have some serious injuries to be concerned about. Top and only QB. 2 top LB's. Top RB. On a team with some certain holes, we have some season killing issues at some of our points of great strength. Hopefully all will be well for the possible Sunday night game next week. We should all understand we will need all of them for a playoff run. If not just for next week. So why am I feeling blue? I started the week posting a thread where I supported resting guys if the Giants won. And the poll was a blowout. Like 55-15 for playing everyone no matter what. And as the day went on I started to turn. My Eagles hate is large. And the cheering and the no man left behind tenor got to me. Yes, this game meant everything. We had to recover from the first loss. We needed to man up. I posted this the day before the game in the Eagles Forum.
"During the week the talk quickly spread to “If the Giants win the 1 pm game do we rest some players?” And I supported it for about a day. Jones is limping. Morris is our only other RB and apparently we’re going forward with this idea. :shakeshead: Ware / Ratliff / Jenkins and others are beat up. It’s football. Everyone is in some way beat up. I hate the Eagles, but winning the Division and seeing if there is a playoff run is supposed to be the key. Right? NO. I’ll quote on of our top writer’s KD Drummond here.
How do you want an organization to have no sense of pride in trying to avenge their most embarrassing defeat of the season, against a hated rival? I mean, seriously. This is a grown man’s game and grown men should want to exact that measure of revenge. You want a coach to prepare his team, lights out, all week, then at the last minute say ‘Go ahead McGee, Parnell and Morris, you got it today!’ Seriously? whiskey tango foxtrot, send out an APB on the cajones.
And that is the way we think this week. It’s not universal, but it is largely true. We hate your team and the beating you gave us last time. And we’ll risk any injury to give us the best chance to beat you. This is not completely rational, but it has crept into my blood as the weeks gone on. I now believe it to be the truth. As if I had to clear my head. And sometimes the truth is simple. Giants this. Giants that. This is about the Eagles. Nothing else matters. You killed our football team when we did not think it possible. We’ve hated your team for a long, long time. And to be the best you have to beat the best. All the games in the year were merely a prelude to this game. Teams step up and declare themselves to be relevant, challengers for the crown and a team worthy of respect. We want our respect to start on Xmas Eve. To beat a team many people do not think we can. To plunge that sword into the Eagles chest and not relent. To press as hard as we can for as long as we need to. Until the sword and the fist supporting it, goes straight through the Eagles chest.
Fear the Star."
Well how do you imagine I felt as this game wore on? Like most of you. Romo going out was a serious blow to us. And anyone watching this game, remember who our MVP is. It's Romo. Jon Kitna was a worthy backup. I'm not sure what McGee is worth. To be fair, playing the Eagles is the worst time to judge a Dallas QB. It seems to be irrefutable. As of now we can not deal with these Eagles. Even the short time we saw this game, it looked exactly like the first matchup. But first on McGee. Is he a quality backup? Probably not. He was in full Mark Sanchez mode for most of the game. Unable to complete deep, or often even try, while dumping it off to backs in the flat and WR's 5 yards downfield. Yes, he was horrifically pressured. Often needing to roll out or throw in 2 seconds. Our line again soiled the bed on pass blocking. Are the 2011 Eagles not the 85 Bears? We could not protect the QB if he was holding our baby in his arms. They all sucked. And my personal favorite mess of the game was the over 7 minute drive that started with 9 1/2 minutes to go. It was like watching Bama in the 80's try and move downfield. No hurry up. Clock ticking. Theoretically still in a 20-0 game. Unless you do this.
WE NEED A BACKUP QB WORTHY OF AN NFL TEAM. ESPECIALLY OURS.
You're better than Caleb Hainie. Congrats. And what of our Defense? What Defense? You stunk early. You stunk in the middle. No one cared late. What has happened to Rob Ryan? We started the year in strange formations. 1-5-5. 5-1-6. 7-0-4. And now we rush 4. Sweet. It's High School ball. We got nothing. We challenge nothing. There as almost no pressure. Vick looked like vacation Vick. Tanned and relaxed. When did this happen? When did the D Coach quit? Thanks for Ware again being offside. On the first play. For Spencer becoming one of my most hated Cowboys with another "I got it. I got it. I lost it," play on Vick. Newman. Following a WR is not actually covering a WR. And Jenkins on the 2nd TD WTF were you doing? Karate kick to the groin FTW? Oh Jebus, that sucked.
We are steps away from the Division. And a place in the playoffs. Then anything can happen. But tonites loss hurts. To the bone. We maybe decided to go vanilla. And just play it out. And now we face one game. Can we win it? Yes, we can. Depending on who is healthy.

100% agreed on mcgee
i thought he sucked in college (losing his job as a senior to a sophomore, then that same sophomore eventually losing his job to a wr). With that being said he has shown little or no improvement in 3 years.
McGee didn't lose his job
he suffered a season ending injury…..
Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten

Now, if somebody doesn’t agree with that, that’s cool. I also don’t agree with the fact that I don’t have $10 million in my bank account. But the fact that I don’t agree with it doesn’t make it any less true.

LOL
Ain’t got nobody to blame but ourselves, throw in some superlatives and this eagles fan is pissed. The Dallas game hasn’t even started. Then he states well maybe we can ruin the Cowboy’s chances and Mark Sanchez is a sorry “LOL”

sigh ...
Dallas just suck right now..

Wow. I wonder if this applies:
You’re not really a fan. You’re a H8tr. Someone who does not get this team. You wanted to win? So did we. You’re not alone in that respect. But you have expectations that are not even in line with common sense…

The point is, your allowed to be.
Venting is part of what this blog is here for. I just hope that when others do the same in the future, there will be at least one less person on here calling them out as haters.

I think we disagree on what we consider h8trs.
I’m not yelling to fire anyone.
Or to committ to some ridiculous late season personnel change.
There’s a huge difference.

Yeah we disagree.
I don’t see any difference. So what if someone thinks JG should be fired for not calling a TO. I called for Wade Phillips firing for 2 years before it happened. Was I a hater for doing so? Of course not. I was defending my team from the mismanagement of the then current administration. I think people have a right to do so, whether the coach is Phillips, Garrett, or Tom Landry. It might make their opinions wrong, but it does not make them haters.

so let me get this strait
if a fan thinks someone should get the pink slip when some on staff are obviously are hurting the team then they’re haters.. Got ya, i think that whole “if u say anything negative even when a lot of it is warranted on this team then ur a hater” mentality is complete b.s but whatev that’s ur prerogative… yesterday’s game didn’t depress me but it pissed me off

No. Not what I've meant. At any time.
It’s the ones that seem to only show up when things go wrong. And this year they’ve had their chances. They scream and yell loudly and stupidly. They are never here during the week. Their points are never well made or thought out., It’s just an emotional public pants wetting.
That’s a H8tr. Nothing good to say. Only wanting to complain and yell that things should change. I’m not sure if they consider themselves fans or not. But I find them repellent. And out game threads fly out of control with it. One of my great appreciations of this site is the need for people to be thoughtful and willing / able to defend their position. And with the quality of the writing, whether in main threads or fanposts, this site stands alone. I know as I’ve been on enough of them.

this dline desperately needs an overhaul
would u agree? imo building a team has to start in the trenches its like a pyramid & the lines are like the base, after that is laid down u can start adding levels case in point the dbs, another lb or 2.. the oline needs another guard & center although i’d be interested to see what killer kowalski could do @ that position as the fulltime starter but i fear for romo’s health EVERY time he drops back to pass & i’m probably not the only one.
Were set @ wrs, demarco/fiametta u guys were godsend, j-witt is only a h.o.f. as for bennett he can be replaced, ware/lee are warriors it would be so great if carter becomes a stud.. i’m actually fine w/ garrett & rob if there’s any coach that should be fired its probably campo, i appreciate what u did in the 90s dave but time is up, the guys play w/ bad technique.. am i missing anything?

This team was awful last year
It’s Week 17 and we’re in the NFC East Championship Game.
the roster isn’t dramatically different, especially on defense. The O-line is in year 1 of a 3-year revamping. Garrett and, more importantly, Rob ryan, never got a full training camp to implement the system changes they wanted to. The old regime’s players largely got worse. A youth movement is in the works and…
it’s week 17 and we’re in the NFC East Championship Game.
I’d say we all got big presents and the Dream Team got the same big, fat lump of coal they always get.
Merry Christmas!!!
