Offensive line Needed ,

... No matter what ..The bottom line IS ...and always will be....That football is a game of matchups ..Offensively If players like Doug Free ....and Tyron smith do Not possess the Athleticism needed to handle a defensive front with talented Veteran Pro's like the eagles defensive front are ,The cowboy's are going to LOSE...To me ..it actually was a blessing that Romo escaped yesterdays game with just a swollen hand, as he was going to get Killed had he attempted to play the entire game ...Point Blank Romo does NOT have a good enough offensive line this year that warrants a successful outing against a well versed defensive front ( The Cardinals actually exposed this theory also) Romo does Not possess the Athleticism that a Michael Vick has ...and he NEVER will ..Doug Free should be Second string ....Tyron Smith is just Young , They BOTH were Manhandled by the eagle defensive front all day and they were also beaten constantly and almost at will IN BOTH OUTINGS this year, For you see it is not difficult for one to analyze what type of offensive line that the cowboys had when they were winning super bowls ....Dominate or At best ADEQUATE in the 90'S for Troy Aikmen ...Rob Ryan needs to be fired his defensive schematics amounts to what we as auditor's call "Security by Obscurity" lol ,However to Rob;s defense, he is JUST a coach ,he does not play ...Defensively if a team is going to have a mediocre secondary ,then they DAMN well better have a Overpowering Offense to be able to win the big one in the NFL ...But this Year IT IS WHAT IT IS ......................Cowboy's 4 LIFE....................

We will try and get em NEXT YEAR.........................

I think the offensive line is in great shape going forward.

We could maybe upgrade at center, but I would feel okay if we stood pat and headed into 2012 with the same group of guys. And I didnt see Tyron Smith and Doug Free beaten repeatedly. I saw Stephen McGee holding the football for an hour, and failing to step up into the pocket and away from pressure when our tackles did the RIGHT thing and pushed those “wide 9’s” AROUND the launchpoint.

Our offensive line is better than adequate now, and only going to get better. I wouldnt mind at all if we didnt take a single offensive player in April.

didnt see????

…Then you should have video taped the game ..Like I did ….all one has to do ../is count the SACKS …and also the rushed pass attempts of Mcgee ………..Then look at the player that did the sacking …..Then look at who was assigned to block the sacker,,,lol …and Then count the number of hurried throws and near sacks …and you will see who was getting beat Often……………

Grab a stopwatch (or sundial), and count the time between the snap and the sack.

Tyron Smith cant block ME for a half an our.

our o line did get whip by philly

But look at all that talent they have back their.. they led the league in sacks for a reason. I knew each time we play them guys we are going to give up 4 or 5 sacks

O-line

upgrade to interior of the oline is enough….. we’ll see how much better that oline will look when we are not playing some guy off the street at RB and a 3rd string QB. Tyron is EXCELLENT….Free is good enough….

We need three things URGENTLY next year;
Interior O-line
Pass rush
DB’s

by TONY_P on Dec 25, 2011 11:37 AM CST reply actions

o-line...hummmmmmmmmmm

…Free………Second string , and in most instances good enough

..Tyron Smith…………Yesterday the eagles ran a stunt blitz to his side , he did NOT know who to block and missed Blocking ANYBODY.. to be able to handle that comes with experience ,So just mental with him ,he is just Young…..

by James Simmons on Dec 25, 2011 11:57 AM CST up reply actions

Tyron is a twenty-one year old rookie.

Give him time. This guy is already playing better than alot of veterans. It will take time to limit the mistakes. He is smart, he will learn. Besides, give him an offseason with Woicik and then come talk to me.

However Jace .I ....

am not faulting Tyron , I am Faulting Rob Ryan just a bit when it comes to tyron

Offensive player…..defensive coordinator. Not following.

by Jace M on Dec 27, 2011 2:05 PM CST up reply actions

Jace

…….Just saying that Overall Defensively ..I am Blaming Rob Ryan ….For NOT developing a better defensive scheme for the cowboy’s this year ,especially for not having his defensive unit run blitz stunt rushes against Tyron in practice,to help Tyron be better prepared …But I do realize that maybe they have coursed Tyron and he just need more time….

Fanshot (not orginal just a rant)

Where did you learn to make sentences and paragraphs? Just curious you seem to always add alot of punctuation and an overuse of caps too. Yeah our Oline did get fairly abused yesterday i would like to see an addition in the offseason maybe through FA and a big year in the draft for our defense.

A lot

is two words. lol.

Each week, play whoever is standing across the field from you, whenever and wherever. If you match up well, exploit it and win. If you don’t, then get very crafty in your game play and try to "steal" a win anyway. Repeat process until no more games remain, and confetti rains down from a retractable roof and Roger Goodell is handing out hardware. by hookerhome on Dec 17, 2011 6:58 AM PST

I congratulate you on your first post but...

Man, you need to write a bit more clear and concise. Also, McGee was holding on to the ball way to long. You can’t blame the OL for that. The Eagles line is DL is built for getting penetration fast and immediately. I think we should have run a bit more screens to either keep them out of the Wide 9 or at least burn them when they do.

F**** establishing a culture, we need to establish dominance...

by Holchr31 on Dec 25, 2011 8:08 PM CST reply actions

the sad thing is Holchr

this isn’t his first post…..

Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten

I don’t actually blame mcgee for any of that game. I think he actually played better than romo would have. the offense looked the same to me as it did last time we played philly with the exception of mcgee running out of the pocket for positive yards, something romo never seems to do anymore. seems to me you need to be able to run the ball on the eagles if you want to win.

by DavidLaFleur on Dec 26, 2011 10:24 AM CST up reply actions

...And who....La whoever

…is blaming Mcgee may I ask? Actually the Topic that is being addressed from my post is the O-line , actually Mcgee did very well , given the circumstances

by James Simmons on Dec 26, 2011 10:30 AM CST up reply actions

It was a reply to Holchr31 whom said McGee was holding onto the ball way too long. I’m guessing it was a result of none of the receivers being open because Romo was doing the same thing in the first game.

thats wierd bc i remeber defenses wanting to keep Romo in the pocket early on.

Romo made a lot of plays out the pocket 2006-2008 & defenses feared him out of the pocket but it seems garrett isn’t gameplanning to Romo’s strengths

We are no were near being a contender

Defensively Ware and lee are the only bright spots- front line can’t get pressure, line backers who can’t cover ( Lee is exception, somewhat ) backfield that just plain sucks! To top it off they bring in Ryan from Cleavland – I didn’t know that Cleavland was a defensive jugernaut when he was there!

Ofinsively: You are correct_ the Whole interior of the line can’t move anyone and the tackles, Free should be playing right and Smith needs a couple years to play left. Romo, is a goofball and he won’t deliver either. Never cared for him as the QB of the Cowboys; Yes, he was better than what came after Aikemen; but really guys how hard is that??

Don’t you dare incenuate I’m not a fan, because I’ve been a fan longer than most of you have been a live. I have seen the good and I have seen the bad; But these teams of recent years have no character or heart, or very little of it.

The reason I haven’t posted much this season is because I get tired of the hype. I know a winner when I see it and when I see it again in the Cowboy’s Ill let you know and you can take it to the bank!

by bad knees on Dec 26, 2011 12:30 PM CST reply actions

Yea Bad kneeeeeessssssssssssssss..................

……….I myself have been watching Cowboy’s football since Don Meredith……..And to put it more into perspective about Romo …." Even Danny White could throw the football with accuracy to his right side " ..The inability to complete passes with accuracy to his right , is one of the MAIN nemeses of Tony Romo ,Basically all any opposing defense has to do is guard the left side and middle crossing routes to be successful against most of his passing attempts ,especially in zone coverage , there are ONLY a few instances has the tight ends been able to salvage Romos poor passing attempts to the right side ( austin has saved him a few times also) In short this becomes one of the central differences between a Good quarterback and a Great one…at least in my mind …A Great Quarterback can throw a football with accuracy ANYWHERE !!!!

…And for those doubters , I tape ALL Cowboys games ….Try watching ,and counting every game , the passes completed from Tony Romo’s RIGHT side ….

by James Simmons on Dec 26, 2011 2:17 PM CST up reply actions

Question?

Ok so if that is true… then why is it not done and why on the three touchdown passes against Tampa Bay this last game did he roll to his right and hit not one but three different receivers dead in the chest. Oh wait… maybe that was McGee in Romo’s jersy.

Rex

…Once again if there was any way that you could review ALL of the previous cowboy’s games..You will see what I am talking about ….They ( the Cowboy’s ) also Know about Romos pass attempts to his right side , and are working on this as Defenses ( to a certain degree) are preparing their schemes based on this very same analogy

by James Simmons on Dec 27, 2011 10:29 AM CST up reply actions

History

I would say roll your guys to the right and let Romo beat you to the left and when he’s mobile and out of the pocket throwing he’s better then any QB in the league and that is a fact left, right, or up the middle doesn’t matter,

by Rex Pfister on Dec 27, 2011 4:55 PM CST up reply actions

Rex sorry to say , as I am Die hard Cowboy’s for life , But Romo is no where Near as good as Michael Vick……. As he just does not possess the Athleticism

by James Simmons on Dec 27, 2011 5:32 PM CST up reply actions

Bad Kneess

Hmmm about Romo… how hard is it when there are only 3 quarterbacks in the league this season doing better and only one career wise doing better. Tony Romo has the No.2 passer rating career wise in the NFL and that’s all QBs period including Brady, Marino, Elway, the Mannings, Breeze, Young, Aikman, and Montana.

Post was on Cowboys in general

Comment about Romo, well that’s just been my gut feeling about him from the get go. I’m little impressed with the stats, boittom line is wins and playoff wins and SB winns. Were does he sit in that?? I know it take a team to win, bit sometimes it’s dead on the QB shoulders. How many time could these guys not get a first down or two when thats all it would take to win?? To many!!!!

He may rank above Stabauch and Aikemen in the stats, but who would you want with the game on the line?? I know my first two choices.
