Why I think Von Miller is better than Patrick Peterson

I can see it now..."What! Are you freaking Crazy! There is no way that Von Miller is Better than Peterson!" No, I don't suffer from insanity, I actually enjoy it.  I digress though. Yes, in my opinion Miller > Peterson. The Funny thing is, I even have the stats to prove it.  Now I admit that certain stats don't translate well to different positions...However. IF we can come to a certain consensus about a couple I will show you what I mean. So let us get get that out of the way shall we?

Now the main stats that teams like to look at for OLB and CB are as follows:

40 yard dash time= Top Speed

3-cone Drill time= agility/Change of Direction

Short Shuttle time= agility

Vertical leap (in inches)= Explosion/leaping ability

Now We can all agree that both Miller and Peterson are the best players at their respective positions, right? Good. After the Jump Lets Look at how they each did at  each "Drill"

Here is what Patrick Peterson Did at the 4 "drills":

40 Yrd Dash: 4.31

Vertical Jump: 38

20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.07

3-Cone Drill: 6.58

Now lets Look at Von Miller:

40 Yrd Dash: 4.42

Vertical Jump: 37

20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.06

3-Cone Drill: 6.70

So Peterson beat Miller in every thing except SS time, so obviously I am wrong, right? Not so fast buckaroo. Here is the really funny thing. Yes, taken in a vacuum Miller is not as good as Peterson. However think about this, Peterson stands 6 ft tall and weighs 219lbs, which is makes him a "big CB". However, Miller stands a Full 3 inches taller and weighs 27 pounds more than Peterson, yet nearly matched Peterson in every way, being 0.11 secs slower in the 40, 0.12 secs slower at the three cone, and getting out jumped by a mere inch in the Vertical. So does that mean that Miller could play CB? No, but it does mean that Miller most definitely could drop into coverage with minimal problems. And with that comes a whole realm of interesting ideas, like Von Miller at SS. What?  Now I admit, it does sound Crazy, but Miller definitely as the athleticism to play there. want Proof? Here are the two "strong safeties" from the 2011 Pro Bowl, Eric Berry and Adrian Wilson:

Eric Berry;

40 Yrd Dash: 4.40
20 Yrd Dash: 2.51
10 Yrd Dash: 1.54
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 19
Vertical Jump: 43
Broad Jump: 10'10"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.23
3-Cone Drill: 6.80

Adrian Wilson:

40 Yrd Dash: 4.53
20 Yrd Dash: 2.65
10 Yrd Dash: 1.61
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 21
Vertical Jump: 39 1/2
Broad Jump: 10'00"

Now I am not saying that Miller would be a "Pro Bowl" Strong Safety, but you could put him at the position if you wanted to get really funky with a package. Could you imagine the look on a QB's Face when he sees a LB at the Safety spot? Then gets Picked off because He thought he had a mismatch there? I would be laughing my butt off! (actually I would be screaming something, depending on who Miller was playing for...)

So the Team that Gets Miller will not only be getting a player that is one of the best pass rushers in the draft, but could line up virtually anywhere in the Defense. He could Line up as a DE,  OLB, ILB, heck even at Safety or Nickel CB. He could help out on Special teams, as either a gunner(would you want 246 lbs flying in at top speed trying to tackle you as a PR? I wouldn't) or in basic coverage.

Now would I mind having Peterson on my team? Nope, I would Love it. But I would really, really like Von Miller, simply because of this simple equation, where M= Miller, W=Ware, R=Ratliff and Ro=Rob Ryan, then:

M+W+R+Ro=Nightmares for Opposing OC's....Sometimes I love Math... sometimes.
