Worst Cowboys Coach

KD's fantasy post about the past got me thinking about our coaches.

I don't think there is much disagreement  on the best coach - the revered Thomas Wade Landry.  He could be/appear stoic, "inflexible", unpassionate and aloof but he was the man I (and many others) used as a role model of what you want to be like or have your son grow up to be like.  His discipline, sense of honor, consistency and  hard work set our Cowboy standards for us to be considered America's Team.

Next is Jimmy Johnson, the coach who brought us passion, genius and championships.  JJ was like those large stars that burn intensely and live short then explode, I wish he could have stayed to get us 4 or 5 in a row.

Then comes Bill Parcells, not a Jerry lap dog but a coach with some skins on the wall and provided some upgrades in talent and performance.

Now, I pick Jason Garrett.  Although he only has 8 games I think he has "it."  His future could take him to #3 or even hopefully to #2.

Next for me is Wade Phillips.  We did improve talent and had some success.

Now the 3-way tie for worst.  Switzer, Gailey, Campo.  For me it was Switzer.  I just didn't like him.  He seemed like a buffoon and I was embarrassed to have him as our coach.  However, I have to say we won a Super Bowl in '95 with him as coach.  But did we win because of him or in spite of him?

Surely, some one on this blog will explain Switzer's value.

Gailey and Campo (bless there little hearts) seemed like Jerry Jones lap dogs as Jerry appeared to wander lost in the desert with delusions of grandeur.

I hope the big ham thinks this qualifies as a post and is not a shot.
