BTB Honor Roll: Most Prolific BTB Members So Far In 2011

A couple of weeks ago, we looked at the BTB user stats for 2010. And since there still isn't any football going on, we might as well review how we've done in the first six months of 2011.

After the break we look at some BTB Stats from 2011 to identify who the most prolific BTB members have been so far this year, both in terms of quantity and quality. We check out the front page, the FanPosts, the Fanshots as well as our very own FanPost of The Week winners and honorees.

Here are the topline numbers for 2011 so far:

  • Five different front page writers combined to bring you 812 front page posts so far this year. The full year figures for 2010 and 2009 were 1,080 and 872 posts respectively. Considering that we didn't have any free agency, OTA's or mini-camps, I think that's a pretty awesome job by the staff writers, if I may say so myself. At the very least, I hope we've kept you entertained.
  • 161 BTB members penned a combined for 479 FanPosts this year. That is roughly on track to meet the numbers of the previous two years, considering that the FanPost frequency usually picks up significantly in the second half of the year.
  • 127 BTB members published a total of 479 Fanshots in the first 6 months of 2011. By year's end we will likely have surpassed last year's 855 Fanshots by a large margin, and the 585 Fanshots from 2009 will seem puny in comparison.
  • All of you combined for 96,236 comments over the first semester of 2011. And again, given that things will likely pick up once football's back, we'll likely see the full-year total this year easily surpass the 215,409 comments from 2010 as well as the 203,169 comments from 2009.
  • Overall, that's almost 530 comments per day on BTB, spread out over an average of 4.5 front page posts, 2.6 FanPosts and 2.6 Fanshots per day.
Front Page

By now you've come to recognize each of the current four front page writers. Hopefully, you've found that each has a style of his own, adds a different perspective and adds a unique element to what makes BTB. Here's how many posts each of us have contributed to the front page so far this year:

I have to admit, I was a little shocked when I first looked at our tally for the first six months. On average, that's a post a day for each of the front page writers. That's a lot.

Fan Posts

Until you've tried your hand at authoring a FanPost of your own, you may not realize how much time and effort most BTB-members put into their FanPosts.

So give it up for all those FanPosters who invested the time and effort write a FanPost for your reading pleasure. Hands down the most prolific poster of the past six months has been ChiaCrack, who posted an incredible 65 posts, and last we heard, still had a couple of posts up his sleeve. I am Ironman!!! follows in second place with 27 posts and is in turn followed closely by perennial BTB favorite Fan in Thick and Thin who offered 16 posts. ProBowlFactory, Chandus and TheCowboys way round out the top five of the most prolific posters. Hats off to all the others as well.

What really gets a writer excited is when he sees the number of rec's increase for his posts. I know that from my own personal experience as a fanposter: A high number of rec's left me in a gleeful state for days, while low or no rec's regularly left me in a funk. So don't be stingy with those rec's. They are the most gratifying thing for most authors because they show a special appreciation for the work the author has put into his FanPost.

Chia also walks off with the crown in terms of overall number of rec's, garnering 192 for his 65 posts. Notably, while starting off with posts largely about the draft and draft prospects, Chia's posts have started to expand from that blueprint recently. Next up are three BTB heavyweights in Chandus, 5Blings and Fan in Thick and Thin who have all garnered a boatload recommendations for their play-by-play analysing, comment generating and statistically based musings. Entering the top five of the most recommended Fanposts is relative newbie TheCowboyWay who only joined the blog in early April but has impressed with his 'Grading The Numbers' series.

In terms of total comments, Chia also wins based on his prolific posting. Despite penning only 7 posts so far this year 5Blings comes in second, and continues generating comments at a blistering pace. Blings maintained his average of about 330 comments per post from 2010, far and away the highest comments per post ratio. Chandus, I am Ironman!!! and FiTaT are also quite adept at getting a good thread going, as have many others.

For an extended list, look at the tables below to see who the top 15 FanPosters of 2011 are so far, ranked by number of FanPosts, number of recommendations and number of comments.

If you click on the FanPosts tab at the top of the front page, you'll be taken to the FanPost page, and once you've done that, I'd urge you to click on the most popular of all time option. This gives you the eternal list of the FanPosts with the highest number of rec's in the history of BTB. In a long and boring offseason, leafing through some of those posts can be quite entertaining. Try it out over the next couple of days, you won't be disappointed.

Fanshots

The Fanshot is alive and well on BTB. For the first time ever, we're getting about as many Fanshots as we're getting Fanposts. Kegbearer, Rena, beWARE94, FiTaT and scottmaui all contributed heavily to the Fanshot section along with many others.

Tip of the hat to all of you who posted fanshots, the top 15 are below.

FanPost Of The Week Tally

Ever since rabblerousr started his weekly/semi-weekly round-up of FPOTW, there has been much anticipation by BTB posters about which post would be picked in a given week. We've only had three repeat winners in 2011 so far, so rabble has been doing a good job of spreading the love around. But he also hands out honorable mentions, which sometimes get a little lost in the shuffle. So here are all the FPOTW winners and honorable mentions for the year so far:
