Around SBN: Veterans Share Their Favorite Sports Memories

I've seen a couple of requests here to block a given SBN poster. Rather than reply inline to a very long, possibly painful post about Mr. Asomugha, I have linked here to the extension that does the dirt.

Thank me later.

After today

I’ve added everyone to my list. BTB is basically just whitespace to me now.

Goodbye cruel world.

Hahahaha

I’ve been on this blog for almost 3 years and I’ve never seen anyone ask for the ability to block posters until today’s threads.

That’s a sad indictment on a few peoples endless childish rantings. I hope it doesn’t continue to the point where people actually need to use Block Posters system.

It's crazy, never seen anything like it

When news broke that Mebane signed with Seattle, I could swear that someone said we might as well tank the season because we did not get Brandon Mebane.

I don’t know if this was sarcastic, serious, or maybe a projection on my part? Brandon Mebane.

This blog is a complex continuous-release delivery system for some people’s addiction to hype. It’s sad really.

Um, welcome to the internet?

But seriously, people have a right to their opinions — noone should question their fandom over it. C’mon, I don’t even live in Texas. Noone here cares about the Cowboys, so I gotta vent somewhere.

People have a right to their opinions...

and people have a right to disagree with those opinions.

Nothing wrong with venting, we’ve all done it, but venting the same thing over and over again (dozens and dozens of times) often using inappropriate language in multiple threads borders on spamming.

The reason why this blog is better than the other big Cowboy blogs (DMN/ESPN etc) is because they are full of that crap and this blog, usually, is full of quality comments.

Now, if only we had some sort of internet tool to ignore those we deemed annoying without any cost to anyone else…

this is incredible. Is this real? I’ve been looking for this for at least 6 months.

Awww, man

I hope I’m still in your good graces

of course you are. you’re one of the voices of reason and one of the best analysts.

this just makes BTB so much more fun. The biggest negative has always been getting dragged into antagonistic exchanges.

I missed out on the Nnamdi rage, and I'm certainly not reading through the 800 comment article that announced Nnamdi would be with the Eagles

What’s there to complain about outside of offensive language? That seems to be a one evening thing. If you’re offended, I can’t hold that against you… but isn’t it easier to avoid that one topic than to block a poster outright?

Nice

I wonder if they’re going to release a version for Firefox?

by lonewolfz28 on Jul 29, 2011 7:46 PM CDT reply actions

They did

It’s called Chrome. You can download it with Firefox.

by Leon on Jul 29, 2011 7:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Tried Chrome on two different occasions.

I was a Beta tester for Chrome and then again about a year ago. I keep coming back to Firefox.

For real though

I’m a pretty heavy Chrome user, and it’s been pretty much all I use for awhile. Not too long ago, my wife deleted all my bookmarks from a synchronized computer; and Chrome does not back up the way most browsers do. Google’s blogs and forums refer to sync as a backup, but there is no backing up. In these scenarios you are pretty much screwed.

Their “official” Chrome solution for real backup is to download Firefox and backup with it.

What's the point

You block people then what’s the point of a blog. We don’t have many problem kids at BTB and trolls don’t last long. Meh I’ll never use it

On a personal level I agree

I like to read what all the posters here have to say, including the ones that I don’t particularly want to read. I don’t use it, but I’ll never say never.

by Leon on Jul 30, 2011 7:45 AM CDT up reply actions

I agree in general

But there are some people that quite literally never offer anything worth reading and go out of their way to troll. That can become quite tiresome.

+1

there are certain posters who repeat the same thing again and again and again and again.

there’s a certain point where it takes away from the enjoyment.

it’s also helpful if you have to deal with stalkers.

:) Joking, I had to after your line about stalkers.

Can't block, 'cause I'm a moderator, and I don't think I would anyway (I don't

like missing anything, even the kind of hysteria we saw yesterday), but it can be a good tool if someone feels the need. Thanks.
