This lockout has caused many changes and we could see one more: teams possibly looking to use the pre-season games to get their starters more reps. With the lockout killing minicamps and OTAs, our players (especially our defense) haven't had much time to learn systems and gel together. I believe that this year could possibly be the only year where you see coaches playing their starters for at least a half a game, especially teams with young QBs (Minnesota, Carolina, Tennessee) and teams installing new systems (us). Of course, there's the downside of one of your key players getting injured in a mostly meaningless game, but the field time may be invaluable for our players and could lead to us getting on the same page (especially defensively) much faster, which would lead to our defense wreaking havoc much faster on teams that may not be as prepared.
So the question I pose to you, BTB faithful is this:
Would it be a good idea for starters to see increased snaps during the pre-season due to the lockout?
