Eagles sign WR Steve Smith away from Giants
Don't think it means much this year (PUP list and all) but nice little steal by the Iggles.

Meh
I be surprised if he contributes much this year. However it’s not a big risk on a 1 year deal.

Maclin
May be sicker than they are letting on.

that’s what I’m thinking. Otherwise, Smith makes very little sense, coming off an injury and playing the same position as Avant. I guess Smith might just be insurance…but it seems weird given that the Iggles have decent young players like Riley Cooper and Chad Hall and a collection of other vets like Sinorice Moss and Johnnie Lee Higgens. And 1-year at $4 million is a pretty steep insurance policy.

$2 million, with “very difficult to reach incentives” that could make it $4M.

sure. Or, you could look at it as $2 million guaranteed for a player who might not ever play again and likely won’t be at the same level this season. Either way, a pretty steep insurance policy.

Eagles doctors think he’ll be ready for the opener.

I think you mean Sinorice "Preseason Warrior" Moss
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
Aha, they just signed someone that’s PUP and are paying him over twice as much to sit on the bench as their star receiver.
I’m sure they’re going to sign Jackson to a deal but they just keep giving ammunition to Drew, I won’t be surprised when D-Jax won’t settle for anything less than 10 million a year.

Every single thing you just said was an assumption or guess.

What “ammunition” did they give Drew?

Well, first there’s that new contract the Jets signed their #1 to.
Second, there’s the two 11 million dollar a year corners that the Eagles doled out that money to.
Third, there’s the fact that they just signed a player who may not even be healthy enough to play this year to a one year deal making twice as much as he’s slated to make this year and twice as much as he made last year.
Mono is medium-long-term recovery
It’s a mild form of hepatitis if I’m not mistaken. Biggest issues once you shed the symptoms are weight loss and weakness. Not a good combo for an NFL Player – Steve Smith is a Cowboy killer, but there are plenty of question marks around his health as well.
Life is what happens while you're busy making plans
seems like the iggles are reading our threads...
whoever we say we’d like the cowboys to get or consider…they go out and give them a contract…..
quick…let’s get tebow!!!

Sure seems like the Eagles are more concerned with weakening division rivals...
than making moves that make sense for the pieces they already had in place.
Go after Free when they already have Jason Peters
Sign Asomugha when they already have Samuel and Rodgers-Cromartie
Sign Steve Smith when you already have Jackson, Maclin and Avant
Yet they’re still weak or thin at LB, OG and S.
I’m actually surprised they didn’t try to sign Elam, Sensabaugh, Spears and Hatcher.LOL
Rabid and luvin' it
Go after Free when they already have Jason Peters
He would have played RT. Winston Justice is injured and hasn’t been playing well.
Sign Asomugha when they already have Samuel and Rodgers-Cromartie
More than 70% of the snaps that the Packers, and almost all teams play, are 3 WR sets.
Plus Nnamdi said he was interested in the Eagles in March.
Sign Steve Smith when you already have Jackson, Maclin and Avant
Depth. Ask the Packers about that one.
Yet they’re still weak or thin at LB, OG and S.
Not thin at any of those positions. LB is inexperinced, OG is not weak or thin, and S is young overall too,
I’m actually surprised they didn’t try to sign Elam, Sensabaugh, Spears and Hatcher.LOL
LOL nobody wants them.

I have to agree that i’m shocked they keep loading up in these postions of strength but pretty much ignoring LB.. OG is fine, safety should be fine too since they added a veteran in page… but if anything we should be worried about LB. If Mike Patterson isnt ready to go then teams could just bypass our 3 star corners and run the ball down our throats
shhhhhhh
don’t tip off Andy Reid about the gameplan he’ll be facing all season long. With weak LBs, small DEs, and CBs that can’t/won’t tackle, it’s going to be a very frustrating year for Michael Vick watching 13-minute drives from the sidelines…

but those CBs are definitely going to get those shut-down corner metrics!
