Effort tops Talent.

There is a debate on here about how the Cowboys will do. I personally think they will do well (10-6 or 11-5). Here's why, last year the team quit before the season even started because Wade ran camp cupcake. The Cowboys arguably have some of the best talent in the NFL, but they have been undisciplined and sloppy in their preparation which leads to sloppy, poor play in games. When Roy Williams, Marion Barber, and Leonard Davis were released I knew that JG was not going to take any bs. And then you look at the coaches he hired all don't have his personality (Rob Ryan) or lack there of but they were hired for one reason and one reason alone: they demand their players give effort or they don't play. I can assure you that if we see Mike Jenkins or any other Defensive player pull up like he did last year against Green Bay, his butt will be on the bench faster then you can scream at your TV. How many times have you watched a game in any sport and it seems like a mismatch but the underdog wins? Why do they win? It's because while there might be a percieved talent gap, the team that is the underdog wants to win more.

very true....

never underestimate the desire of those underdogs, specially when they are hungry and prepare well. when players focus on being prepared and tales it upon themselves to overachieve , then chances of winning is much greater.

i'd say 9-7.

i deffinitley think you improve over last year,
but you have a tough schedule facing the giants and eagles twice. the pats, i think the jets are overrated. but they are still good.
i dont think you immidiatley rebound over last season. your oline is still suspect, tyron smith is a very raw rookie. sorta like JPP was for us last year.
and its still a question wether or not felix jones can handle the work load.
your secondary is that great, and you are facing some of the better passing teams out their this year (not to mention the stud rex grossman).
so i think you will probably end up 8-8, or 9-7.
but deffinitley have a shot at 10-6 and the second wild card spot.
it all depends on how garret chooses to use the run game if at all. and if your gys can stay healthy

We do every year, but even if we split with all 3 division teams we should still do well. We would have to lose 6 other games to have a losing record, 7 to do as bad as last year. I don’t see that happening with the schedule we have.

I’m actually more comfortable with our line this year then last year going forward. Hopefully Arkin steps up, but honestly Tyron can’t be more of a liabilty then Colombo was. He just didn’t have it anymore.

Garret actually uses our backs in a much more versatile way than Wade ever did. Look at Felix rushing to receiving totals and how the receiving portion drastically spiked last year under Garrett. He loves versatility out of the back feild and that is a big reason we got Demarco Murray. As for injuries every team can say that every year.

I meant to also address the fact JPP and Tyron I don't think are on the same level.

They play completely different positions and you have someone who performed very well at his position through his college years in Tyron that you are trying to polish, as opposed to JPP who is a physical freak you are trying to teach. Much different scenarios imho

well actually my point ith them is that they are both pretty raw.

trying to teach tyron to play the left tackle. and he wasnt really that polished in college.
but jpp was much more raw coming into last year.
but wat i saw out of him through those last few games was amazing. he truly has the talent to be one of the best DE’s in this league

eventually they may move him to left, and flip free back to RT, but barring injury, dont expect to see it this year

oh. he's gonna have his hands full against our DE's.

yea, well its pretty difficult to be as bad as you were last year, haha.
i do think you finish 9-7 tho.

agree, i think garret is a huge upgrade over wade. was soo sad to see wade go.
and i think felix will start to be used in a way the eagles use lesean mccoy. but its to be seen if felix can be as effective in the passing game as mccoy

in reality tho, theirs nothing wrong with being confient. but the cowboys are honostley the 3rd best team in this division right now. so while every fan should be confident.

and diff between Rex and the Cowboys fans are that this Cowboys team has been that good before, that group of Redskins have not……

well actually our oline is pretty young again.

and eli was the least sacked qb in the league last year with an oline that had seen half of its starters injured. so i think h’ll be just fine their.

eli had over 4,000 passing yards last year? we have started to develop in to a more balanced team than ever before.
at center, bass is gonna start.

what do u mean now? he's always been our number one.

he’s a top 10 reciever in the NFL (most consider)
and the best reciever in the division.
hakeem “the dream” has unbeliavable talent (turrible spelling <— their) he does a little bit of everything.

Who knows at this juncture before any football has been played that based on talent, coaching, and strategy we are the 3rd best? I think we upgraded this offseason while I believe the Giants downgraded. No that is my opinion as you have yours. I think we upgraded this offseason while I believe the Giants downgraded. No that is my opinion as you have yours.

how so? you saying we have downgraded by losing our guys, is like me saying that you downgraded because marion barber and roy williams are gone. which clearly is not the case. the popular opinion has their ideas. but they are far off from right on the giants.
we have actually upgraded in a few areas. and are doing what we usually dont do and let our young talented guys have their chance instead of being pushed against the cap. we have freed up cap space to sign a lot of our guys that our coming off their rookie contracts next year.
so, tho it seams we have downgraded. we have basically stayed the same, added some talent to the special teams (our worst area of lay last year). let our young guys play. and have en ourselfs flexibility for the future.

Saying that us winning 5 more games then last year after making the improvements we made is nothing like saying the Redskins jump from worst to 1st though

well the redskin thing was kinda a joke.
i mean their is no problem with being confident in your team. but like you dont see where the giants have improoved (tho they have). i dont see where the cowboys have improoved that drastically (tho im sure you could explain it to me).
right now we have no idea what will be.
i believe we have the better team. which most do.

The problem that I think most Cowboy fans need to get over is the delusion

That “we have some of the best talent in the NFL”.

Last year proved that we do not. Our safeties were garbage. Our corners, when healthy, were below-average to bad. Our linebackers not named Ware were average. Our DL other than Rat was blah.

On offense one entire side of our OL was horrible.

And most of all, our DEPTH is atrocious. That is the direct result of bad drafts by Jerry. Sure he’s made some great finds with our starters, but our depth has to be some of the worst in the NFL.

Let’s just go with we are what we are and until the TEAM proves otherwise, enough with all the “arguably some of the best talent in the NFL.”

Depth is what wins in the NFL. It allows starters to rest, and allows a smaller dropoff when the inevitable injuries happen.

A lot of teams have talented players

Larry Fitzgerald is amazing. Darren McFadden is a rising superstar. Orakpo is one of the best OLB in football. Their teams are pretty terrible.

What makes you one of the most talented TEAMS is your depth. That’s just my personal opinion.

their are so many injuries in a 16 game season (as the packers showed us last year) if you have great depth. you can overcome that. (the giants showed us that in 07)
