Offense helping Defense

A lot of people are concerned with the fact that there has only been one change (so far) from our defense that was one of the worst in the NFL.

I would agree that it is a what you have you done for me lately world, and going off what we saw last season, it doesn't look good. Yet we forget that with the same starters, except Ball at safety, we had a top defense in 2009. I think there's one way to improve the defense and it doesn't take adding a player on defense. We need to have a more consistent offense.

Over the last couple years we have seen either a penalty that killed the drive or turnovers that put our defense on the field way too much. One of the most impressive things from the other night was the fact that in the first preseason game we only had six penalties. Consider the fact that the Broncos had 3 on one play. After the lockout one would have thought that the veterans would have been really anxious, and the rookies would have been nervous.

If the O-line can hold up, it will help the offense, both in the running game and in the passing game because Romo will have time to actually make his reads properly. Do I think that there will be games where won't have a high number of penalties or games with no turnovers all season? No, but I think if we can cut down on those two things, it will help the defense. Also, if we have a high scoring offense, meaning the other teams will have to pass a lot, it could play right into RR's blitzing scheme.
