Quote from JG about what is a physical football team.
Asked to define what a physical team looks like, Garrett invoked the comparison to the age old definition of pornography: “it’s hard to define but you know what it is when you see it.”
Victor Butler picks off McGee on the first play
This guy really needs to be on the field more often.

He shows up every day
Too bad he backs up DWare. He’s be a great 3rd down rusher for Spencer
Leadership is the ability to influence a man to either give his life or take the life of another willingly and with the confidence that what's asked of him is within his ability to do and that his well-being was the first priority of his superior's decision.
Yeah
I was thinking after this year he could be plugged in for Spencer. I know he backs up Ware on the weak side but can’t he play strong side as well?

Choice Trade

If this were true, Tenn needs to be slapped. What are they thinking?

LMAO
I don’t believe it for a minute. Detroit might need a trade for a #2 and might have a player they’ll give up that we want. But, that trade is as bad as the RW trade only in reverse

Detroit would make sense
A pick or Guard or a Corner would be nice.

The self proclaimed "dirtiest player in the league"?
Don’t see that happening, especially for Choice.
I like the sound of this.
Tim MacMahon (ESPNDallas):
Actually had that discussion with Hudson Houck today while Doug Free worked with Tyron Smith on footwork for about 15 minutes following walkthrough. Kosier, an extremely intelligent guy, is the leader in the classroom. He’ll ask questions because he knows the rookies don’t know the answers and need to. Free is a quiet guy by nature, but he’s taking more of a leadership role.

Are guys like Kyle Kosier, and Gurode, doing a good job mentoring the young offensive linemen? That seemed to be something the staff liked “intangible-wise” with columbo

This question has been thrown around here some
Comment From Guest : With the potential move of playing Gurode at G and keeping Phil Costa at C, how has Costa looked?
Tim MacMahon (ESPNDallas):
Costa looks like a solid backup who might be over his head as a starter. He definitely is outmatched by Jay Ratliff.
Babe Laufenberg is beating the Gurode to guard drum, and he wouldn’t make a suggestion like that on CBS 11 without some inside knowledge. So there’s some real smoke there. But one source reminded me today that Gurode wasn’t a very good guard when he played there early in his career.
Only in an extreme emergency

I don't get the limited size comment.
At 6’3", 311lbs, the guy is bigger than quite a few “Pro Bowl” centers: http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/team_biosPlayers.cfm?playerID=FF6DEA1F-0F16-14DC-8471972E5DCF0293
Contrast that with:

Dan Koppen 6’2" 296lbs: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/dan-koppen/140741
Nick Mangold 6’4" 307lbs: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/nick-mangold/401279

About time.
I’ve been wanting to see how that works since we drafted Arkin. Just makes too much sense…experience-rookie-experience-experience-rookie. We’ve got our smartest guys next to the two rookies and Kosier can still point out the line adjustments to Gurode.

wants to be lined up as far away as possible from Ware after this haha….
Tim MacMahon (ESPNDallas):
Ware came up the middle and bull-rushed Arkin into Romo’s lap. …
How is Ijalana doing for the Colts...
he is bigger than Arkin and the Colts said they would play him at guard. he was available in the 3rd when Dallas drafted. It will be interesting to watch how he and Arkin do compared to each other.

from ESPN chat
Tim MacMahon (ESPNDallas): Kitna out to Bennett for 15. … Smith and Kosier — again at right guard — handle Spencer/Spears. Spencer slipped through on stunt next rep.
Also…
Arkin is working next to Free. Ware’s speed as he twists inside is tough for Arkin to handle. Arkin got beat straight up by Hatcher the next rep, maybe anticipating a stunt.

In the Roy draft we could have had Oher with the 24th pick....
Imagine him for Colombo last year. The Tyron pick wouldn’t have been such a desperation pick this year. We might have been able to draft a d lineman. Giving up a 3rd in the Roy draft too was terrible. if your an astute gm by now that third round pick would be ready to seriously contribute now.

If we cut Newman like I think we will next year, I bet Jerry resigns Scandrick.
I can’t see him letting two of our three top corners leave Valley Ranch.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
I think it depends how deep the positions are and who rises to the top.

They fixed it quickly and won the superbowl....To fix a position u have to draft
players in those positions. You can’t keep drafting linebackers. Drafting a true nt has done wonders for their defense. Jus saying you can’t focus on 1 position for years. I don’t knowif was Wade or what saying he needed more linebackers. But when Jerry said Wade knew nfl talent you knew something was really wrong.

Hell no.
If Carter’s not ready, he’s PUP for 6 weeks. If not ready after that, IR. That way we don’t have to sneak someone through waivers. That’s exactly how we lost Elam in 2006. Parcells loved Elam for his hustle and ST play. He wanted to keep Austin (I think it was Austin) and no way was Austin making it through waivers again after the preseason he’d had, so Parcells cut Elam. He wasn’t on the waiver wire a freaking day…

Ware is OK with Sapp after phone conversation
kind of disappointed with DWare on this one, why give a crap what Sapp thinks?and why waste your breath yaking on the phone with that clown?
Frankly, I always wondered why the coaches won't give Choice a shot
He is the only back we have had that has cranked out 100 yard games consistently when he was a starter. I know it’s a very small sample size, but he toted the rock against PIT and some good defenses.
I’m so sick of seeing Felix Jones tap out when he is winded. I hope this Murray kid beats him out eventually. I really hope they know what they’re doing with these backs. Jones is the perfect 3rd down back. He is dangerous in space and unable to carry a load.
It just seems like whenever Jones and Barber were both hurt with their various maladies…Choice always performed.
I agree
Everyone that wants to trade him now is crazy. I understand we want to get something for him, but what would we get? A 6th round pick? It’s not worth it, Jones has injury concerns and so does Murray. We may need Choice because odds are one of the other two will get hurt.
by Dynamicduo on Aug 8, 2011 6:53 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
Choice can't (or won't) block
He misses his blocking assignments and doesn’t contribute on ST. Agreed he’s a good runner and has performed when called on, but he limits roster flexibilty and can get his QB killed.
That’s why he’s in Garrett’s doghouse, and that’s why I think Miller will be the 3rd back in 2011.
