Entirely as a coincidental counterpoint to CCboys recent post, I am going to suggest a different history of the Jerry Jones owned Cowboys.

Jerry purchased a team in disarray and hired a friend. Jimmie looked like a guy with a plan (I believe the player analysis he used for drafting has been copied since by many other league executives), trades were made, stars were drafted and a championship team was born. Jimmie was crowned a super-coach and Jerry wanted his share of the limelight but this created a rift and the rest as we all know is history.

Jimmie left and the winning continued for a while but any planning for the future seemed lost too. Bad coaches bad drafting bad football. The league was changing and the Cowboys weren’t keeping up until Jerry brought in Parcells and once again it seemed like there was a plan. Accountability amongst players better coaching UDFA’s with talent hanging around developing into stars brought the team to the edge of greatness again. However Parcells didn’t want to coach for ever but taking control of operations with a Peyton or Sparano as coach seemed the logical path but not to Jerry.

Parcells left and the winning continued for a while but any planning for the future seemed lost too sound familiar! Now we have JG and a shiny new plan that is universally being heralded.

So how do we stop the past repeating itself?

Well in my imaginary position of Cowboys head honcho I am announcing our latest new hirer, Mr. Stephen Jones as Chief Buffering Officer (CBO). He is the right man for this critical position within the organization his primary role will be to keep Jerry’s hands off the JG master plan so he has a fighting chance of getting us back to the promised land.
