Report: Cowboys To Sign CB Frank Walker; Move At Running Back Coming?
According to this report from ESPN, the Cowboys worked out veteran cornerback Frank Walker today, and intend to sign him as soon as a roster spot is made available.
Walker worked out for the team Tuesday morning.
Walker, who will be entering his ninth season in the league, has played with New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings. Walker was in training camp with the Tennessee Titans this summer but was one of the last cuts.
Walker is being brought in due to the injury bug that has affected the Cowboys secondary. CB1 Terence Newman missed the entire preseason and week one with a groin injury, but could possibly return to face the 49ers. CB2 Mike Jenkins was injured all camp as well, and then suffered two more injuries during the Jets game. His toughness can't be questioned as he willed himself through the game. CB3 Orlando Scandrick left the Jets game early in the second quarter with a ankle injury and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. There were times when backup safety Danny McCray was getting snaps at corner behind Alan Ball and Bryan McCann.
The Cowboys could have had their eye on Walker since the final cuts, but by waiting until after week one, Walker's salary for 2011 will not be guaranteed.
[UPDATE] The Cowboys have signed Walker, and released TE Martin Rucker to make roster room. The team has also signed back FB Tony Fiammetta and released WR Laurent Rovinson [/UPDATE]
Follow the jump for some speculation about where the roster spot could come from.
Playing a bit of connect the dots, there could be a roster spot being opened up by making a move at the running back position. Fourth-year running back Tashard Choice has provided a few somewhat ominous tweets about his time with the Cowboys and things ahead in his future.
Change gone come
Cowboy fans thanks for all the support through the years & def right now after the tough loss Sunday. I wanna say thank you and much respect
Please note, this dot-connecting is purely speculative, and the roster opening could easily come from other places. Choice didn't have the best of games Sunday, rushing or in pass protection. UDFA Phillp Tanner best attribute from the preseason was his constant fighting for yardage but was a game day inactive. The coaching staff may be regretting not having him available for a certain 1st and goal from the 3 in Sunday's fourth quarter.
Hat Tip to @lakedog19352 for bringing the Choice tweets to my attention earlier today, and don't forget to follow us @BloggingTheBoys on Twitter.

Let's see...
which teams lost RB’s or had them dinged up significantly this weekend:
Denver’s Knowshon Moreno is undergoing an MRI on his hamstring: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5163/knowshon-moreno
The Texans have questions at RB with Derrick Ward and Arian Foster both banged up: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/2925/derrick-ward
The Rams have Steven Jackson nursing a Quad “week to week” and an oft injured Cadillac Williams as the backup: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1663/steven-jackson
Not a lot of significant RB injuries (thankfully) in Week 1. Everyone knows John Fox loves to run the ball with multiple RB’s. Moreno hasn’t exactly set the league on fire. They still have McGahee, but he didn’t look outstanding Monday night either. Other than that, they have a bunch of nobodies. Choice would be a good fit in Fox’s system.

Regret it how so?
Just askin. Do you think he goes somewhere else and does great? I just don’t think he has any value for us right now. He doesn’t play special teams and he can’t block. I think he does a solid job running the ball and i think he provides nice depth. But i can totally understand him being cut.
We're here to win football games. The way to do that is to tell him and to get on him at the right times. I do that when you guys (media) don't see and watch.''

i think Choice offers a legit backup if Felix were get injuried
it would be hard to imagine Murray or Tanner getting the start if something happened to felix for a few games. i’m not a Choice fan but until he is replaced thats a lot to put on 2 rookies entering the NFL.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
Lord knows this team would never put a lot on a rookie.

Felix Jones can follow two possible career paths:
1. mediocre starter
2. best change-of-pace back in league
It’s pretty obvious….

Agree with Chia on this
Murray if given the chance will produce very well.
But I will say, I liked what I saw of Felix on Sunday considering it was the Jets.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

Choice?
My question is why does he not get on the field much and why did they draft Murray? My answer would be that they do not trust him to block? If this is the case he has little value to us. He’s been here long enough to learn it, if he hasn’t he probably never will. He runs well enough, so why does he not play? I can’t see anyone giving much for him as it doesn’t look like he will be here next year?

less we forget
It was vs Pitt that the young choice came in as a rookie and did the improbable against the vaunted Steeler defense… In this day and age especially at the RB position you got to stay hunger and I just don’t think he still had that fire, when Barber was cut and he wasn’t automatically anointed the #2 spot…

I'm kind of disappointed?
we need OLDER guys in the secondary? Especially if he’s just so-so.
Don't believe everything you think.
who else do you want?
the top 3 corners are injured and you already have a young guy in McCann out there. this team isn’t going to put some young guy out there that can’t play just because he is young.
I don't want anyone in particular
but some guy on the other side of 30 isn’t thrilling me.
Don't believe everything you think.
Haha, we agree on something again.
We used to agree all the time. But if you are going youth movement, then go youth movement. With the rate guys were getting injured this past weekend, not feeling good about signing an older player.

I look at it differently. That was a 2 man pattern and
Revis usually does not get help so he plays in over-man position to the inside and usually high. Dez is suppose to fight for the ball and come back for it. With only 2 guys out on that route IF Romo is to consider him then Dez has to do his job by either getting the ball or not letting anyone other than him get it (but he was tired and unfocused because of the quad…I mean did you see how patheticly he tried to tackle Revis after the pick)

Too aggressive of a decision, but Romo plays that way.
In Romo we Trust
The ball is thrown before the WR cuts.
Romo had faith in Dez doing the same thing he did earlier when you were hollering that Dez took over Revis island.
It was an aggressive move on Romo’s part and I would be willing to bet that he learns from it and takes better care of the ball for at least the next few games. But if we threw all the guys under a bus when they made a mistake we wouldn’t have a team left.
yeah I understand that
but Revis was in front the whole time, and a safety behind the whole time
he threw it right to Revis

They are human and make mistakes like everyone else. Even the great Peyton Manning.
a future HOF QB at that..
Romo should never be mentioned in the same breath as Brady or Manning for that matter. Anyone watch Brady last night put on that clinic…
Bone Head decision making will get you everytime.
His point was
that even the best QB (according to BSPN) do throw game-losing interceptions at the worst possible time. He’s not comparing anybody to anybody, just making a point via a good example.
How many times have we heard that elite QB do not throw picks in important situations: well that’s not right.
Brandon himself says that comparing Romo to Brady is like comparing himself to Hemingway. He doesn’t belong in the same conversation as those guys, whether they make mistakes or not. When he also does the great things that they do on a regular basis, then it’s appropriate to use them as examples.

you can defend the fumble I guess
but anyone who defends that INT is really in need of a reality check
you don’t throw the ball into coverage like that with safety help, especially Revis
it’s like he didn’t care about the consequences of that throw, he basically didn’t read the coverage too well either
worst throw I have seen Romo make in a long time

Have we confirmed that Dez ran the correct route?
Ever consider that Romo may have been covering for his young, talented receiver? One that he needs to keep a good relationship with? Did you see the way Dez defended him afterwords? Maybe that was his way of saying thanks.
by Dezstroyer88 on Sep 13, 2011 2:59 PM CDT up reply actions
It was the exact same play they'd run earlier in the game, when Dez ran a stop fade on the sideline.
It was a back shoulder to Dez. It still shouldn’t have been thrown, because the Jets played it a bit differently. This time, however, Dez didn’t stop to come back for the ball.

I am still not sure why a veteran QB throws to his obviously injured player, who is double covered by a safety and the best corner in the league.

Terry...stop making a virtue of your stupidity
I should have guessed that you will put the blame on Dez for this…Tony made a bone headed decision to go his way…Dez wasn’t even looking for the ball..that throw and loss was solely on Romo…we move on to the next game
Why does the opinion that Terry has "make a virtue of his stupidity"?
Terry catches a lot of crap on here but the guy loves him some Romo. He believes in Romo. Just because you, myself, or others don’t agree with him it does not make him stupid.
Was the loss on Romo? Yes. But solely? No. The entire team takes some of that. Punt team for allowing that block mainly.

Take your lumps with Mcgee the rest of the season
and draft a QB like JG is going to do anyway. No one expects this team to finish better than 8-8 or 9-7 as it is.
For the record I would look to trade him while he is worth something, not just straight up release him. Im perfectly fine with him as the QB this year because Im not expecting a whole lot to begin with.
Bone Head decision making will get you everytime.
So you think McGee and some unknown QB
has a better shot at a SB in the next 5 years than Romo?

by Dezstroyer88 on Sep 13, 2011 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions
5 years with Romo and we havent sniffed the SB
how long you want to wait for Romo to wake up and stop making stupid mistakes? Should we wait 3 more years then decide while some of these guys are in the prime of their careers, or will be in 3 years from now then have to start over?
Im not saying we will fair better with a rookie, not at first anyway but its being proven that you can win with young QBs now. Something has to change is what Im saying because its obvious Romo is not.
IMO, Romo has until this season to prove to JG he is the guy beyond this year or he drafts his guy next year.

JG will decide that so we wont have to
He has already proven it doesnt matter who you are. Romo’s clock is ticking and his time is running out.

You do realize this was the EXACT same play they ran earlier in the gam.
Where Bryant made a great catch on stop fade. Just this time…he didn’t stop.
And how the heck can you say you might not “forgive” Romo, after a the first week of the freaking season. You have great scouting skills, but your emotions get the best of you, my man.
How about the defense that allowed that 4tth quarter TD drive? Or the special teams allowing the blocked field goal, with a man going UNTOUCHED up the middle. Trying to pin this one loss on Romo alone, because of ONE interception, is ridiculous.

I'm much more upset with the player who missed the block
that allowed the punt to be blocked…IMO that mistake is much more unforgivable
In Romo we Trust
Why?
The punt team played great for the rest of the game, and last year, they were among the best in the league. Mistakes are made in punt blocking by even the best punt blockers.
by Baked Potato Soup on Sep 13, 2011 3:19 PM CDT up reply actions
that was on the coaching staff
they should’ve reconized it was different punt package on the field & lined up differently.
Joe D wasn’t on top his game week 1 & no other coach on Dallas sideline caught it either. they were out coached on that play
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
No, the hole between the center and gaurd was big enough to drive a truck through
The guard turned left to help the tackle when he should’ve blocked the LB coming on a slight delay.
Lock n Load
I don't see how.
I mean, we win and lose as a team, and no one player is more of a factor in wins and losses than another, right? So every position is equal, and the punt unit excels typically, and did in this game as well, except that one play. The overreaction to this one mistake is ridiculous.
by Baked Potato Soup on Sep 13, 2011 3:43 PM CDT up reply actions
How?
That is one of the plays that was directly responsible for us losing that game.

Oh.
So it’s appropriate to be upset with players when they make mistakes that are responsible for us losing a game?
by Baked Potato Soup on Sep 14, 2011 1:38 AM CDT up reply actions
Sure it is.
But it’s not appropriate to fly off the handle and suggest getting rid of a top 10 NFL QB over a couple of turnovers, especially when we still could have won that game with them. There is more blame to go around than just on Tony Romo, that is what I’m getting at.
"The Angels are like the villain in the movie that isn't dead until he's been stabbed 150 times in the bath tub, yet he still might come back up one more time." - Eric Nadel
You get to decide what level of outrage is appropriate?
That’s pretty arrogant, don’t you think?
We still could have won with the punt block, as well. There is certainly more blame to go around than just on Romo, but he deserves the lion’s share. It’s lame to pretend that this reaction is due solely to this incident with Romo, also. The guy has made similar high profile mistakes in the past, and has not won a game in a long time. If someone like Choice, whose fumble contributed to a loss previously, had fumbled the ball away twice in the same situations that Romo turned the ball over, I suspect the outrage would be just as intense.
by Baked Potato Soup on Sep 14, 2011 7:51 AM CDT up reply actions
And pretty much the rest of the game Romo was outstanding as well.
Mistakes are made by even the best QBs as well.
"The Angels are like the villain in the movie that isn't dead until he's been stabbed 150 times in the bath tub, yet he still might come back up one more time." - Eric Nadel
Punts are like xtra points
Should be perfect all year and should be taken for granted. Why is it acceptable for such a basic play to be missed so blatantly but not for an INT (of what even the best QB have their fair share every year)?
BTW we weren’t among the best in the league, we had one blocked last year too.
You know who played great for the rest of the game really: Romo
Even elite punting units have punts blocked.
Besides, the stats show that we were THE best punting unit in the league last year, with the highest net punt average. Blocked punts here and there don’t refute the stats. You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to a great punt team.
by Baked Potato Soup on Sep 14, 2011 1:43 AM CDT up reply actions
you could also say:
Blocked puntsInterceptions late in the game here and there don’t refute the stats. You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to a greatpunt teamQuarterback.
Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten

Why was Dez out there?
It looked like the same play to me. But why was Dez out there, he was just limping around. You could say Tony should not have thrown it to him, but I’d put it down to the coach having him out there? In the heat of the game it’s hard for the QB to factor in the that the WR is injured. I was upset at the loss but I don’t blame it all on Tony Romo. There were a number of factors that contributed to this loss, he was only one of them. It was just one game and we were playing a very good team.

A trade offer would come from Seattle or someone higher up, don’t you think? Then there could be bids or he could be shopped.
not if they are bidding against each other

Seriously, this would be an non-waiver trade for the most part.
It is likely that Choice could be a member of another team, the bidding is being done in the form of draft picks. Example, Dallas could offer a 7th rounder and Choice to St. Louis for a Second rounder to outbid Miami.

Choice was a ST beast -- What happened?
As I recall, his early games produced some highlight reel hits when he was playing coverage on special teams. What happened?! Maybe someone just took him off of kick coverage and it wasn’t his choice.
I always liked the guy and thought he was one of the most complete looking backs we had. When he was given oportunities to start — he never seemed to let us down. His only downfall was that fumble last year, but 1 fumble shouldn’t doom a man…. He rarely fumbles, and as I recall set a record in college for low fumbles.
Also it may be a mistake to start a random CB now.....
Whenb McCann and Ball were actually starting to learn the position by the end of the jets game. First time I have some pass deflections by Cowboys DB’s in several games!

have you ever been to a home game at the Colossieum?
As bad as their team is…these fans are Hard Core man….i have been to a bunch of Cowboys game in my life…but the intensity of the fans is not even close to the Raiders…i
no I havent, im from NY
thats the problem I have with Cowboys fans, I heard the fans at the stadiums are snobs, telling people to sit down and be quiet
ever notice how are home games are silent? get some noise people
yeah Raiders fans at the games are insane, I see them on tv

the Raiders are really good all around.
the Chargers will have there hands full with them this season just like last year.
Rod Woodson really has that secondary looking good
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
This is true about Cowboys fans...little too quiet.
I was raised going to 49er, Raiders and Oakand Invader games (USFL) and the stadiums are packed with fans talking smack. When I got to the first game against the Giants in 2009 I could not believe how well behaved the fans were. Not one crazy (except me lol) That culture has to change big time

different type of fans .
Dallas goes the extra mile to keep a lot of scrubs out of the stadium where some teams will do anything to fill a seat.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
Yeah but we need those scrubs to create a home field advantage if the non-scrubs won't

Mainly because Cambell. He’s a very classy guy and he got a raw deal with the skins and never complained. I hope he makes them regret getting rid of him.

What wonders accrue when you have an OL that blocks.
Wish you were here
our OL can block, but Nagy didnt look good imo
Nagy is athletic and can move around, but as far as pass protection he gets pushed back, he gets no push on straight ahead running either

I did
but I am talking about the whole game, Bryan Broaddus said the same thing
he can get out and block, the guy is athletic, but had trouble with pushing forward, he said he has to be careful when pass blocking because if he gets pushed back it makes Romo have to move, I suggest you read the article because Broaddus actually goes over game tape

He was on the field for 43% of the Vikes defensive plays last year
His only game that was really kind of bad was their last game against the Lions, when he got beat for a couple of long balls to N.Burleson (33 yards) and B.Johnson (23 yards). Overall, he is a sold backup and should be good for Dallas for right now.

Give Spencer a break
He actually plays the strong side pretty well. Remember, he has a tight end to deal with where Ware doesn’t on most snaps. I think Butler is a little light for that strong side type of work.
I find it rediculous almost every person in the know has said spencer and Butler

does the offenses in the NFL look way ahead of the defenses in anyone elses eyes?
i haven’t looked at many stats but i know the record for passing yards was set this week by the 32 QBs with almost 8,000 yards.
besides the Vikings (mc5) & Chiefs everything looked competitive across the board. sure the Seahawks & 49ers game was miserable to watch but there was still some offense.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
I agree, so did Rodgers
but they throw INTs too, I remember Brady throwing a pick six in a divisional playoff game that lost the game for the Pats….funny how people to forget that and only remember his 3 SB wins.

Those guys have nicer jewelry than Romo
Until then, the comparison is off. Those guys made mistakes, but were also able to overcome them and get their teams where they needed to be. Thus far, Romo has not done that, and therefore does not get the free pass that they do.

The roster spot needs to come from Buehler.
I don’t understand the need of two kickers. I guess having Buehler this weekend against Ginn and the 49ers make it necessary but is Bailey that bad on kickoffs?

i don't like him that much
but if you have two kickers, both being equally mediocre, i think the one who can get touchbacks and tackle gets the nod

I don’t understand carrying two especially when he doesn’t kick it out of the back of the endzone even if it was by design Bailey could do that. I know with romo’s int it was a non issue but if we had got into fg range that kick wouldn’t have been a given with our kickers

Another Choice tweet signals the end.
He replied “thanks man” to a tweet that said “Not sure if you are hinting that you’re leaving the Boys, but I hope you get a fresh start somewhere!”. Of course that isn’t firm confirmation – but why would you reply that way to that tweet if it wasn’t there wasn’t something to it?
I think Tashard Choice being traded
will be Garrett’s memorable trade like Herschel Walker was for Jimmy……then I just woke up and stopped dreaming….I say if they trade him, see ya….play the best 53 he could not gain a yard the other night and I am willing to bet Tanner would have.
I was more upset about the block he missed.
And I’m a fan of Choice, but if he isn’t getting yardage and he’s still missing blocks, it might be time for him to move on.

but that wasn’t opening night. it was the opener in the new stadium though. That was 2009. They played the bucs in week 1 on the road. But for what its worth, Romo actually learned his lesson after that game. He only threw 6 more picks the rest of the year to go with 26 TD’s. We’ll see if he reacts the same way this time around.

he won't ever stop those mistakes
just as soon as you think its going good BAM it happens again. Romo just can’t make quick decisions like some of the better QBs in the NFL. Romo’s skillset is very good but mentally he’s barely average
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
Romo doesn't process info fast enough to make the right decisions in critical situations
i don’t know many ways to write it without offending some people. do you reaqlly believe Brady, Brees or whoever would’ve thrown that pick into double coverage or fumbled the ball at the goal line when there trying to keep the lead?
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
Brees?
The guy that threw 22 INT’s last season? I’m sure all of those were during moments that didn’t matter.
by Dezstroyer88 on Sep 13, 2011 3:25 PM CDT up reply actions
do you really believe Brees is a 22 INT QB?
now if Brees does it again this season then maybe people can start the Brees comparision to Eli but right both those guys made big plays in big games to win super bowls.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
Well he threw 22 so..
But I know what u mean. And in the same way, I don’t believe Romo is a bad QB because he’s made some bad decisions in his career. I have no doubt that Romo is a SB caliber QB. This doesn’t mean his occasional bad decisions don’t piss me off. They do. But when the talent is there, you roll with the punches and improve upon them and move forward.

Even the great Brady isn't perfect
Brady earned a reputation as one of the NFL’s most clutch performers for his early-career Super Bowl wins. It was in just his second season that he engineered a final-minute drive to beat the heavily-favored St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.
But since 2007, Brady has flopped when it counted.
Jets coach Rex Ryan looked at that big-game history and asked his team to expose it on Sunday.
“This was the quarterback that couldn’t get touched,” LB Bart Scott told the Boston Herald. “(The media) talk all about how great he’s playing, but what Rex pulled out for us was his last three playoff games – what his record was and what his rating was then. He had a 66 quarterback rating in his last four or five playoff games and you guys didn’t believe that. You guys didn’t look deep enough into the notes.”
"....the Cowboy way...." (Head Coach, Jason Garrett)
true
he threw an INT against them last year in the playoffs…
3 Int’s against the ravens in the playoffs before that.
every great QB has had their bad moments
But the fact that their good ones outweigh their bad ones, no one cares about them. Until Romo wins the big one, thats all people are going to talk about…

Youre right... because they hate him so much
If he wins one, they will say: Staubach and Aikman won at least 2, why cant he do it?? It will always be something for Cowboy haters to hate….

probably just like Eli is talked about but i think even Eli is more respected then Romo ever will be
i’m not a critic but i am a huge fan thats tired of losing. at this point i really don’t care how they fix it but something has to be done.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
Eli being more liked is due to a lot of different reasons..
The Media is infatuated with the Manning clan…plus he plays in NewYork…and of course Tony plays for the Cowboys and we are not really the most liked by the national media
How do you know?
I feel this is absolutely untrue, and the precedent for it is Peyton Manning. Before he finally won, he was saddled with the label of never being able to win a big game, and for making big mistakes in big games. He won the SB, and he became a deity. Romo wins the big game, he will too.

thats why i said "probably". its my opinion.
maybe to us fans but a lot of people in the media can’t stand Dallas & never will like them. to many explayers in the media that have grudges against dallas for whatever reason won’t ever reconize Romo the way they do the better QBs in the NFL
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
IMO because he is a Cowboy
I don’t think a lot of Cowboys get respected as they should.
Look at Emmitt. Rarely does he get mentioned in the argument for best RB ever even though he is the all time leading rusher. he’s got 3 SB rings. why?
“anyone could be good with that line”
but no one ever says Rice was an average reciever because he had 2 HOF QB’s throwing him the ball…one of which is argued as one of the best of all time.
or vice versa….no one says Montana and Young were average QB’s because they had the best WR to ever play the game.
Rex schemes all year for Brady.
Rex is like Bill Murray in Groudhog Day
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
you couldn't possibly be more wrong
Has nothing to do with processing information…sometimes qbs made made decisions and it is what it is…nothing more
In Romo we Trust
umm Terry i disagree
IMO & many others that actually know something think the same thing. Romo has a great skillset but lacks in the ability to process info for 4 quaters concistently
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
+1 chia
Thats what he is known for, mistakes in critical moments. I use to argue people all the the time about his numbers and nobody cares. Its almost impossible to defend him anymore. No one can tell you how many yards Joe Montana threw for, but everyone knows he has 4 rings and they know about the Catch. At the end of the day thats all that matters, getting it done in the clutch. Romo doesnt have those signature moments…….. Yet

that made me laugh then made me realize dude threw the game away
Tony Turnover

I'm also a Romo fan but.....
Jay Leno said last night that economists predict the country is entering a Tony Romo economy, which is a bad fourth quarter.

For Choice..
Must be another move pending, then. Hopefully it’s a trade. Maybe he heard that he was being shopped, but not that he was actually gone yet.
Um, didn't we draft a CB?
Oh yeah, we cut him and kept 4 TE’s and 4 RB’s.
Can we get him back he has to be on our practice squad right?
Maybe not . . . . . .
Bring in the Clowns, I mean Browns.
To didn't we draft a CB
We can’t get him back because Carolina claimed him off of waivers.

facing A.Smith should help our secondary a ton
they barely beat the SeaChickens in what had to be the ugliest game ever. well maybe Mc5 had the worst game of all. 8,000 passing yards was a record this weekend & MC5 had 39 of those
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
I wont look past any QB
hell, we made David Garrard look like a legit QB last year.
I know we have a different Defense and all…and I hope they can shut him down completely. I wont be sure till they do it week in and week out.
our CB injury situation doesn’t add any confidence either.
but I’ll be at the game…hopefully one of the Boys gets a pick six right in front of me.
I will be also at the Game
Braylon Edwards is the X-factor IMO….i wouldn’t worry about Crabtree…you just tell the CB covering him to play the Fly pattern always
I will....
so long as the Boys win.
I went to Cowboys stadium a couple of years ago when they played the Chargers. So depressing. Ruined the whole trip.
Saw barber and the line get stuffed down after down after down after down at the goaline right in front of me.
the only game i've seen Dallas play live was when the Ravens closed Texas Stadium down
i was super happy to see Dallas play in Texas stadium but when Ray Rice (i believe) ripped that run off it sucked the wind out that stadium.
Every team has a great gameplan until they get Punched in the Mouth!
For What It's worth
I have been to 8 Cowboys game including Pre-Season my entire life…about 5 with Tony…and we have WON all of them…so rest assured gents…i have got the Boys covered this Sunday :)
could you start picking some tougher games?
Romo is thousand times smarter than you so does that make you dumb?? Just curious

I try to go to a game a year and I was doing pretty well until
2007. We were like 12-1 and hosting the down Eagles and Jessica Simpson keeps flashing her pink Romo jersey and we lose like 12-7.

The last game I got to see in person was Aikman's rookie year.
Of course we lost all of them, but great seats were easy to come bye!
i hope to...
Taking my Wife there…hopefully the crowd is not too rowdy….lot of violence at these venues…did you read about the fan who tasered someone at the Jets game?
You know...
I think I want to start a campaign to call the Seahawks the beach chickens, not the seachickens. Not because it makes more sense, but because every time I see the phrase “seachickens,” I recall a chinese restaurant in a city I used to live in, where the menu carried “beach chicken” for well over a year—until I health inspector discovered it was seagull meat. Just seems more apt for the current incarnations of the Seahawks; they are supposed to be the real thing, but instead they are just everyone’s lunch.

Since we're discussing cuts and signings
Didn’t David Buehler kick himself out of a job Sunday night? I mean if you are the kickoff specialist and you don’t get it into the end zone then what’s the point? Shouldn’t Bailey be able to kick that far?
I’d like to have another CB or WR rather than a specialist K who isn’t living up to the role.

Says we cut Rucker since Bennett is due back. A shame, I really liked him.

Musiccitynorm on Reds master plan:
So you’re saying you once read about Red and his master plan When playing larger more physical defensive lines the game plan is to wear them down by making them move a lot, lots of pass plays on 1st and 2nd down, stretch runs and screens,,, then run right at them,,, those numbers seem to bear that out
with the now line it should be even more effective
that was expected though
Here’s a theoretical play from 2010: Snap. Tony takes 7 step drop. Tony looks left at Miles, who is doubled, and looks right to where Roy Williams should be…but instead sees Colombo on his back and a Defensive End foaming at the mouth jumping over Marc’s carcass. Tony proceeds to run like hell and look for Witten

What's the scrub count up to?
Looking more scrubby by the day. They do need CB help.I’m not sure about Walker.
Laurent Robinson cut?
I just saw this report, wtf? Didn’t his salary get guaranteed by being signed last week? I’m not understanding the front office.
It's Jerry, don't rack your brain thinking about it too much.
There’s little rhyme or reason to it.

Any good move likely was JG.

I've watched Jerry try to be a GM long enough to recognize the difference.
"The Angels are like the villain in the movie that isn't dead until he's been stabbed 150 times in the bath tub, yet he still might come back up one more time." - Eric Nadel
He was inactive in Week 1.
He was hurt (hamstring)…again. The story of his career.
And everyone that was on the roster last week has their salary guaranteed. So it’s pretty much irrelevant. You need a roster spot opened to bring in a player, someone with a guaranteed salary is going to have to be cut to make room.
Rabid and luvin' it
This front office is grasping at straws right now.
Come on, Cowboys play well in spite of this front office!
laurent robinson cut
guess ’tree finally earned that 3rd WR spot. all he needed was a swift kick in the a—- to wake up and “earn” it

well 'Tree did have a good game last night....
2 catches for 12 yards and a 7 yard rush…..not bad for a 3rd WR in this offense

thats literally all we need
Just an option on third downs to grab on to the ball when the number is called. Even Phillips is a more important receiving option than the #3 and I’m not being facetious
people are delusional to call Romo great, he is good, not great
he will be great when he stops making huge mistakes
win a super bowl then I will call you great
I have defended Romo for years, but after plays like that I cant defend his stupid plays anymore
if throws a pick no big deal, if he throws picks like that its awful and I cant defend that

Who cares if he's considered great.
There are very few guys that have ever been in this league that can be anointed “great” after 5 years. Hell there are only about 2 QBs in this league right now that you can say are legitimately great and have proven it.

We get it
you can’t defend Romo anymore after years of doing it
you can’t play with Romo in madden
Romo is not great, good, not great
He makes dumb mistakes
He lost another game for the Cowboys
Did I miss anything?
