Statistics Tracking Week 2

Here we are already 2 games into our season, boy time flies doesn't it? And yet monday seems so far away. So! here's statistics! Since we now have two data points i'm going to add the player's 'on pace' numbers for the season. So now we'll have a pre-season projection, and the changing week to week season numbers pace. Let's take a look shall we?

Tony Romo:

Attempts Completions % Yards INTs TDs
Projection 532 357 64.4 4415 11 32
Breakdown 33.25 22.3 64.4 275.9 0.68 2
Week 1 36 23 63.9 342 1 2
Week 2 33 20 60.6 345 0 2
On Pace 552 344 62.3 5,496 8 32

Somewhat of a bizarre game for Romo. Despite being out for a few series he still managed to make on average attempts, and despite being less accurate by 2 or 3 throws he still managed yards comparable to last week. Perhaps going into OT evened things out a bit. It would appear I have underestimated the yards he's capable of producing for this season, and I'm glad to be wrong. Tony seems to think he can gain 1,000 more yards than what I had projected. Tony remains good for 2 TDs a game, how typical. I said last week that Romo was due for a interception-less game, and lo' and behold he didn't screw up. If he only throws 1 INT every other game he'll end up with just 8 on the season, 1 less than his record of just 9 in '09. But, can this pace be trusted? Truly hard to say but, even if it can be trusted, the projection and his pace are in agreement at least for this next game. What that means is he's DUE for an interception against the 'Skins. Prove the numbers wrong Tony! Wait, you are playing... right? Right. BTW, Romo is currently #5 in yards so far.

Jason Witten:

Receptions Yards Average TDs
Projection 93 1010 10.8 6
Breakdown 5.8 63 10.8 0.37
Week 1 6 110 18.3 0
Week 2 7 102 14.5 0
On Pace 104 1,712 16.4 0

Witten had another solid game, despite a lightly lower average per reception. Still no TDs huh? Well, I said he should grab one in one of the next two games last week, so... looks like he'll be hauling one in this week.

Miles Austin:

Receptions Yards Average TDs
Projection 79 1268 16 10
Breakdown 4.9 79.2 16 0.62
Week 1 5 90 18 1
Week 2 9 143 15.8 3
On Pace 112 1,864 16.6 32

Miles certainly overachieved this week compared to last week which is quite average for him. He also seems to want all the TDs for himself. Well mister, you are due for no TDs for the next 3 games. Consequently, he's going to be out for at least the next two games, hmmm... The statistics never lie! Miles currently ranks #4 in yards and is tied for #1 in TDs by a receiver.

Dez Bryant:

Receptions Yards Average TDs
Projection 78 1130 14.4 12
Breakdown 4.8 76 14.4 0.75
Week 1 3 71 23.7 1

Dez was hurt, get better soon! In order for him to get back on the horse in just the next game he will need to reproduce what Miles did against the 'Niners. I'd be ok with that, cause we'd win.

Felix Jones:

Carries Yards YPC TDs
Projection 208 1040 5 8
Breakdown 13 65 5 0.5
Week 1 17 44 2.6 1
Week 2 9 25 2.7 0
On Pace 208 552 2.6 8

Ouch! Felix is on pace for a terrible year. He is almost literally doing half as well as he should. Maybe the Jets and the 49ers really were two of the best run-stopping defenses this year, lets take a look. After two games the Jets are currently ranked #9 against the run and the 49ers are #1. That really doesn't tell the whole story, but take it for what its worth. Things don't necessarily look any better this coming monday. The 'Skins are currently ranked #8.

DeMarcus Ware:

Tackles Sacks FFumbles PDef
Projection 62 17 4 6
Breakdown 3.9 1.06 0.25 0.37
Week 1 4 2 0 0
Week 2 2 2 0 0
On Pace 48 32 0 0

Ware currently leads the league with his 4 sacks (and will by the end of the season!). Nuff' said.

Anthony Spencer:

Tackles Sacks FFumble PDef
Projection 72 11 2 8
Breakdown 4.5 0.68 0.125 0.5
Week 1 3 1 1 0
Week 2 2 1 0 0
On Pace 40 16 8 0

Spencer haters, where are you? Oh, he's going to disappear again? Ok, tell me when and where. And no, I don't think he'll get 16 sacks (cause it'll be 11). Spencer could 'disappear' for the next 5 games and still have the ability to get up to 11 sacks.

Secondary:

PDef Sacks FFumbles
Projection 53 6 8
Breakdown 3.3 0.37 0.5
Week 1 2 1 1
Week 2 1 0 0
On Pace 24 8 8

Alan Ball notched another PDef and an INT to boot.

Jay Ratliff:

Tackles Sacks PDef FFumbles
Projection 45 7 2 4
Breakdown 2.8 0.43 0.125 0.25
Week 1 1 0 0 0
Week 2 4 1 0 0
On Pace 40 8 0 0

Ratliff is back to his old self.

Sean Lee:

Tackles PDef INTs Sacks
Projection 75 5 3 4
Breakdown 4.6 0.3 0.18 0.25
Week 1 12 1 1 0
Week 2 11 0 0 0
On Pace 184 8 8 0

Lee is knockin' on tha do' of one eighty fo'. Lee currently leads the NFL in tackles.

Thats a wrap on week 2. See you next week.
