Around SBN: On Hazards And Hulks And Tigers, Oh My!

Sean Lee, Underachiever

Sure, Sean Lee has two interceptions and two fumble recoveries in just three games. Sure, he's done a tremendous job covering Hall of Famers like LaDanian Tomlinson and young studs like Fred Davis. Sure, he is leading a fantastic rushing defense and sure, he has more than twice as many tackles (31) than anyone else on the entire team. But in a blitz-happy defense that has already garnered 13 quarterback traps, Sean Lee has no sacks. Even role players like Danny McCray and Victor Butler, who have been on the field far less than #50, each have one sack. Yet Lee continues to come up empty when it comes to opposing QBs. As dreadful as it may sound, it may be time to consider benching Sean Lee. After all, it's for the Cowboys' own good. Sincerely, The United Federation of NFL Offensive Coordinators

On a serious note

He is more valuable sitting back waiting on the run, and defending the non-WR receivers, than going after the QB, something that we have guys that really excel at that part of the game.

I'm a Wizards fan. We've been trying to tell you about Lebron for years. Hated the man before it was cool.

wtf

this has got the be a joke…… wating for the laughter…… Listen you can look at stats all you want and if you do you will se that this kid leads the leage in his position WHY BENCH THE LEAGUE LEADER…. cause if you do that that means you have amazing debth and wouldnt be winning games by 3 points or less…. If you dont look at stats and actually review the films you will see that he is directing this defense and making his reads before the snap is even made which means his Football mind is rightup there with the coach he is taking the calls from…. Which means he is a major asset to this Defense he is in play on more than 70% of the plays he is in the game he is in now this is the explanation……. He knows what the offense is doing cause he studys and reviews tapes and he listens and learns from his D.C. and he is there to make the playes and lead the D.C. strategy to the play and make it a + for the dallas defense…… His stats play into part here too….. His stats means that he has the athleticism to make the plays that he is there at and stop them with out needing his back backer to assist and even if he does need his backbacker he holds the play where it needs to be. The Athleticism to be acrrose the field cause no on eis perfect and still make the play when needed cause he know his D.C and his scheme and his ability….. this kid is going to be in dallas’s middle wall for along time so get over it if you dont like the picks or the reads or the defensive stops or the amount of planning in 6 more games its going to take to get past a DE talent stacked team a DL talent emerging team a MLB guy who has contolled this defense to top tier lvl an OLB team this is HALL OF FAME ready and a secondary that isnt what you thought it was second chances do make a diffrence sometimes, then you can go ahead and cap ou ton the sports books cause your not gonna make it this year my friend you have no need to try and evaluate anything comparied to PEE WEE or below if you cant see that SEAN LEE is a YOUNGE may i repeat YOUNGE LB leading the leage in what he does. He is doing what he is asked to do and then some thats what makes D.C like ryan rich men. no name calling i promise not directed at you but your thoughts to each there own this is mine love ya fans…….. FEAR THE STAR ( been said in my family for over 20 years now) OCC you have my props on your day ofter post

what a slacker

srsly it wonʻt be long before O coordinators have to consider him as intently as they do Ware and Ratt, heʻs all over the field and heʻs a play maker and game changer.

if he can only get a sack or two, defensive player of the year?

He is serious DPOY material if he keeps this up

Four turnovers in 3 games?! I honestly can’t remember the last time a Cowboys LB had that many takeaways. Even Ware’s best season is…drum roll, please…two! Chuck Howley had 7 takeaways in 1968 and 8 takeaways in 1971 (good lord!), and Lee Roy Jordan had 7 in 1973 and 1975, so if he stays healthy and keeps making plays, Lee has the potential to have a Cowboys Linebacking Season for the Ages.

by DavidH22 on Sep 27, 2011 7:48 AM CDT reply actions

I need to go on record here...

as I questioned this pick at the time. It’s early, but I’m well on my way to being wrong here, and I love it.

Lee still needs to prove that he’s durable enough to make it through an NFL season, but based on everything I have seen, this kid has the kind of uncanny football instincts that you see only in guys like Brian Urlacher.

I’m quickly becoming a huge fan.

"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

by 5Blings on Sep 27, 2011 11:12 AM CDT reply actions

yep, same here

Its hard not to love the way the guy plays. I kind of doubt he will be as tough as Urlacher or Ray Lewis, and hes not as quick as a safety like Polamalu, but he shares similar qualities with all those guys.

Its pretty clear to me that his and Dez’ health are a big key to this teams’ future.

by foyesboys on Sep 27, 2011 11:53 AM CDT up reply actions

ok I know this is meant to be a joke because of the last line but really?

and the reason why he doesn’t have any sacks is because he’s a MLB and they usually don’t get too many sacks they rack up the tackles as Lee has done with 31 which is 2nd in the NFL
