This was an interesting week for 10 for 10. There were many rivalry games; there were many "cherry-pick" games - games that were selected by most people, and were lopsided in their preferences; and there were some unusual situations and circumstances that occurred this week.
This week, three of you did not include the Cowboys game. One was a first-time player, but the other two had played one/both weeks before and should have known better. According to KD's rules, I was to toss out those entries, giving them zero for the week and not counting the other selections.
I appealed to KD for permission to apply grace, since one was a first-time player, and he approved. So, this week, and THIS WEEK ONLY, here is how grace was applied to all three of these:
- Your entries were not discarded
- Only your first nine selections were scored
- Your tenth selection - that was supposed to be the Cowboys game - was ignored ("wrong")
I have also extended grace to those who posted as a reply, instead of as a comment. If I could clearly understand what was being selected, and if it was posted in time, I tabulated and included your entry. You're welcome. KD would not have included it ("if it's not against the left margin...").
If you are late, all is not lost. Once the early games kick off, then those are no longer in play. You may still submit picks for the late games and night games - any that have not yet kicked off.
One of our leaders the first two weeks didn't get picks in on Sunday. So, he is obviously no longer in the overall lead. However, he still wanted to get in a pick for the Cowboys on Monday morning. He did, and his overall score is better than if he hadn't.
Let me reiterate KD's rules and my application as the (volunteer) tabulator and scorer:
Copy and paste KD's list of games in order into a COMMENT (not a reply)
Make your selections BOLD (highlight your winner selection and click the "B" icon)
Make sure that you have included the Cowboys game (except for the bye week)
Delete the games that you are not selecting
Make sure that EXACTLY ten games are selected, no more and no less
Use the preview button to confirm your selections
After you post, please return to the page in a day or so (before Sunday games kick off); if there is a problem with your post, someone will make a reply; if you check it, then you can fix it before it is too late
We had one 10 for 10 this week. Scores were not as good as last week. Reports and details below.
In the overall, Englishneil is tied for the lead. He has been in tied for the lead each week. This week, he is joined by Allan Uy and Grady90. Last year's winner, BishopWest, is one of nine who are just one pick behind. The man who is running the contest, our own KD Drummond is one of fifteen participants who are two picks out of the lead.
Last week, the Cowboys were a unanimous pick over the 49ers. This week, there were three who picked the Redskins. There were some other unanimous wins, though. Out of ninety-six participants, ninety-two picked the Chargers over the Chiefs; seventy-six picked the Ravens over the Rams; and fifty-two picked the Panthers over the Jaguars. Two other games were one pick short of unanimous - eighty-seven picked the Steelers, and I was the one who picked the Colts (although that looked good through much of the fourth quarter); and, fifty-one picked the Titans (someone who will not be named picked the Broncos). I will also admit to being one of the four who picked the Texans over the Saints.
We actually had a unanimous loss again this week. Last week, the Ravens kept thirty-eight of us from going 10 for 10. This week, over half of us picked the Cardinals, who lost at Seattle. Here's the participation through the first three weeks.
Sorry this has taken so long to get up. I didn't start writing until today because of the Cowboys game being late last night. And, then I did what so many of us do - wasted time with work and family commitments. Man, those tend to get in the way, don't they?
See the charts below for this week's leaders, overall leaders, results. I'll let KD do the full chart with everyone's scores when he does his front page post for this coming week.
