The Faniest Fan Post Ever. Get to know a BTBer

A lot of new members have joined BTB since I came around last season. I don't know about your fanhood how you became a fan, how the team did when you became a fan, etc...

Actually some of the older members on here I don't even know about. So this would be a great chance to tell your story in a single comment on this fanpost. Maybe it could bring back some memories of the old days. We do have a lot of fans from the 70's, 90's and the present era. Me being a present era fan I would love to hear the stories of Staubach and Aikman. My uncle tells me stories of Staubach and my Dad tells me about Aikman. Two era's one team. 5 rings. 51 years of excellence.

So here are the questions after the jump. I'll provide my answer next to it, but you do the same.

Year you became a fan :

Well at the time I considered myself a Raiders fan. I was about 8 or 9 at the time and the cool thing to do was to differ with my Dad. You see during the playoffs in 2002 I took an interest in football. The hometown Jets played the Raiders in a divisional title game and I decided whoever won, won my fandom. The DCyanks21 Bowl was a prestigious award in 2002. The Raiders won and I was a Raiders fan. They beat the Titans in the AFC Championship game and then lost in the Super Bowl to the Buccaneers. The next season they opened up the year vs. the Titans and lost.

Around week 3 or 4 the Cowboys were playing the Jets at the Meadowlands. It was Parcells first season as the head coach. Quincy Carter, Troy Hambrick, and Joey Galloway were our QB,RB, and WR respectively. The Cowboys won 17-6 and Hambrick scored a TD. After that day I considered myself a Cowboys fan and never stopped rooting for them.

How have the Cowboys done in your time as a fan?

Well I'd say okay. The Romo era has been good and disappointing depending on how you look at it. We made the playoffs and we've been a competitive team, but never got past the divisional round in the playoffs. Living in New York I get teased. No matter what stats I bring up about Romo it's about how he does in the playoffs. (Which is unfair he has better stats than Eli in the playoffs. Romo never had a 2007 Giants defense.)

I'm still waiting to get mine.

Best QB in your time as a fan?

It has to be Romo. While he's not yet the winner Staubach and Aikman were, statistically he's the Cowboys best QB in franchise history. He just needs the playoff success. Hopefully he's not like Danny White.

Favorite player ever?

That's very difficult. Romo, Ware, and Witten all have their own spots for me, but I'll say Romo. I defend this guy way more than I need to, but I think he's an elite QB. When my kids are Cowboys fans and they ask me who my favorite player was I'll tell them about Romo. While I'll have my stories about the greatest pass rusher and tight end of my time to tell too.

If you could watch any past Cowboy play who would it be?

That too is tough. Staubach, Lilly, Dorsett, Aikman, Irvin, Smith, Haley, Pearson, Hayes, Moose, White, etc...

But to me it's Deion Sanders. I have no idea why, but since I was a little kid I was drawn to his play. I never seen him play as a Cowboy, but I did see him in the late stages of his career as a Raven. Actually I think he came out of retirement to do that. All I know is Prime was a playmaker. He was a shutdown corner who can create turnovers to win games. And he was flashy. I like that. A reason I'm a big fan of the WR/CB positions is their showboating skills.

If you could watch any Cowboys season again without knowing what would happen which one would you pick?

Probably the 1992 team because they built that team through the draft. The Herschel Walker trade with the Vikings was just a boost to becoming a dynasty.

What year was your greatest season?

2009 while we went 13-3 in 2007 the 2009 team had a certain swagger about them. We were a good offensive line away from being Champions. I truly believe that.

Worst moment as a fan?

Romo botch? Loss to the Giants in the divisional round? Eagles 44-6 defeat?

The Seahawks game had me in tears so it has to be that one. I won't go into detail.

Next time the Cowboys win the Super Bowl Prediction?

In the Giants new Stadium.
