Realistic Expectations
I'm sitting on my couch, trying desperately to work on a class I'm taking online. But, as always when the Boys are playing, work gets set aside. As I'm finishing this sentence, Felix Jones just dropped a potentially drive-saving pass.
Honestly, while a win is still technically possible, I'm not holding out much hope. BTB is a passionate community, and I know many of us are gonna be really upset tonight (unless Romo works a miracle). 4th quarter meltdowns, suspect coaching decisions, and injuries have derailed what seemed to be a promising year. We have high expectations for our team, and we should. The question we need to ask is this; in the broad scope of the season, what has the team done as a whole
Looking back at earlier posts from the beginning of the year, most of us expected a .500 season, plus or minus a win or two. This team was fresh of a 6-10 debacle, with a (mostly) new coaching staff to boot. Through the various ups and downs of our season, expectations have gone from playoff contenders, to contenders for the #1 pick, and back again. Regardless, this team is exactly what we thought it was: a .500 team in rebuilding mode. Yes, there is talent. But clearly, there is a lot of work to do as well.
I, for one, am disappointed for what might have been. Yeah, it could be us in the playoffs next week. But don't give up on this team or this coaching staff yet, folks. Let's see what a complete offseason does for this team. Let's give Garret and Ryan a chance to work with the Boys uninterrupted for a whole offseason, without the distractions of the last.
We haven't been the best this season, but hope remains. Happy New Year, BTB, and God bless!

You know. I'll Keep Coming Back to Your Post.
I agree with everything you say, but right now, it is hard to be upset. Yes, I said hard to be upset. Now I know that is antithetical to fandom in some peoples’ minds, but this is just more of the same of what we have seen over the last several years in the big games. I agree though, interested to see what happens next year with some Rob Ryan draft picks/free agents and a full offseason. Maybe an actual OC? Anyways, I guess I prepared myself for this result. Newman and Scandrick made me sick tonight. I wonder if they even know what the word tackle means. Did anyone else see when Ratliff got in Newman’s face. At least there is some heart on this team. Anyways, looking forward to the offseason. We’ll get them next year.
Good Post
Romo sucks
Dallas Sucks
Jones Sucks….whatever…
Heard it all before – bottom line – the team was NOT winning a SB this season regardless of tonight’s outcome…BUT…with the loss the Cowboys get…
A much better draft pick, a third place schedule, and an offseason for Demarco Murray to heal and Jason Garrett to re-revamp this team from the overrated, under-performing team he inherited.
I am NOT upset.
The Giants at this point in time are just a better team…so are the Packers, Saints, 49ers, and probably the Falcons….
The Cowboys are not playoff ready and the Eagles win today actually helped the Cowboys a lot come next season….here’s to a nice draft in April.
Best regards,
Rome One
amen.
Did we really expect to beat the Falcons in the first round anyway? The Giants will get blown out in the first round while we’ll be in better position… Although keeping the championship hopes alive was important, did we have any realistic hope at all?

Six winning seasons in sixteen seasons.
Five losing seasons and five .500 seasons. Why is he so special again?
no proof - Fisher left and his team had a better year
I’m a big Fisher fan but replacing Garrett is not the answer. He’s a first year coach who’s made some mistakes but let’s also remember he is a smart guy who will learn from them.
Totally Misunderstood You
I thought you were advocating for replacing Garrett with him. Apologies.
