Danny White: If everyone played like Romo, Cowboys would be in the Super Bowl
Danny White on the play of Tony Romo
....White said, via the Dallas Morning News. "Especially at this point. He’s been in the game long enough and he’s learned that the hard way. This season was kind of a perfect example. He has a rating of around 100, for crying out loud, he leads the league in fourth-quarter quarterback rating, he doesn’t throw an interception in the red zone the whole year, and yet they don’t get there.
"I’ll guarantee you there are quarterbacks in this league in the past that have won Super Bowls without performing nearly at the level that Tony Romo has performed at. So it’s a matter of everybody else playing their position the way Tony plays his, and that team will be in the Super Bowl every year. And I think he knows that."

Very classy and very true.
IMO he knows what Romo is going thru as he was not appreciated by fans much either when he was QB of the Boys.
Romo will be appreciated more when he's gone.

Are you sure?
Danny White was under-appreciated when he was here, and a lot of fans today don’t realize how good he was.
I’m afraid that unless Tony wins a Super Bowl or two, Dallas and NFL fans will always rag on him as “overrated,” which is ironic considering how underrated he actually is.

Thats because Troy Aikman came along and we won 3 SBs in 90s
That more than likely won’t happen after Romo retires so therefore he’ll be much more appreciated when we guys like McGee are starting and not performing very well.
In Romo we Trust
I was born during the Danny White era so I don't remember it
but from what I’ve heard, he had it tough coming after Staubach. he was good though, got the Cowboys to 3 straight NFC championship games but came short every time. The media and fans ragged on him badly. Romo gets flak, but I think it’s more from the national media and the fair weather fans who don’t follow the team closely. Most on BTB appreciate Romo’s ability and play. If Romo’s on almost any other team, he’s praised for being an UDFA playing at a pro level.

A horse collar tackle on Drew Pearson
Following the " catch" by Dwight Clark is the only thing that prevented Danny from the big show.
Clark scored, Danny hit Drew and a saving tackle was made or he was off to the races for an easy FG try or game winning TD.
Following that tackle, line penetration caused a game ending fumble and the 9 era went on to the SB.
Danny was, and still is, a class act
If Clark hadn’t scaled his way to the moon on a pass that Montana was throwing out of the back of the endzone, White would have gone there.

I was a freshman at Kennedy High in Sactown
Thirty years later it’s STILL painful at how close they were to getting Danny a ring (they would’ve destroyed Cincinnati in Super Bowl XVI). Damn you Eric Wright!
Danny was also the punter.
Which meant every time Dallas punted, opponents had to defend the fake punt. Which is another reason for using a quarterback as holder on field goals.
The thing was
Danny White was subject to take off and run for the 1st down on any punt so teams had to really be on the lookout for it.

Are you married? Does your wife know that these words are truer than your marriage vows?

In 2006 he re-newed his vows..
"Obviously, I felt like if I ran into my lineman there it was going to help the play" ~Tony Romo
Absolutely to both questions?

Absolutely true
Now that Dirk has his championship, the Cowboys need to get Tony his.
Just get Romo he's ring and everyone will follow.
And if not. So what! I still know how good he was.
