First off, Dez was not arrested and never has been. But he really needs to grow up and quit putting himself in situations where bad things can happen. Dez, I know you're young, but you have to understand the target that is on your chest. People want you to fail. Not us. We want you to have all the success in the world. Please, please stop putting yourself in these situations.

Won’t pull his pants up, reportedly constantly late for meetings and almost late for games in college, orders hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bling and doesn’t pay for it, etc etc. Throw this one on the pile. Personally, it’s not really a big deal to me, since by now we already kind of know what he is. Maturity doesn’t happen over night. The question is… Will he ever graduate to some sort of more serious offense?

Well this is a relief! I was worried there for a moment what an Eagles fan would think

"I still feel like I have something to offer, and the cynical fan can really kiss my ass. I really don’t care. There’s a bunch of true fans and the people who actually want to take the time to get to know me know who I am. The guy who sits in his mom’s basement and types on his mom’s computer, I couldn’t really care less about." - Chipper Jones

I don't think it's very likely that he'll graduate to a more serious offense because...

his problem seems to be more related to idiocy than malicious intent. We’ll probably see a few more dumb events out of him but I don’t think a serious crime.

I have absolutely the same question.

I agree with everything you said Tarheel Paul

I’m pretty sure a lot of young athletes do what Dez does, but since he plays for the Cowboys and has “offield issues” it’s hard for him to go out and have a good time. As long as it doesn’t effect what he does on the field, and as long as he doesn’t get into major trouble (which he never has) than I’m totally fine with Dez.

Non story

Can’t believe the writer over on DC. com trying to turn it into something. Dez is a good kid learning as life goes on. Let him live he hasn’t been arrested or shot or dog fights or coked up or anything he’s simply living his life. Some people need to get off this kids nuts

by CowboyWay on Jan 16, 2012 8:27 PM CST via mobile reply actions

EXACTLY. THANK YOU.

It’s like Dez is percieved a trouble maker, so the media does everything it can to uphold that for him.

by BrickTop on Jan 16, 2012 8:41 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

Because he wears 88

And there’s a star on his helmet, and he’s a young African American kid, with the dallas media in his back yard they want him to be the next TO when he’s not. They want him to be Plax he’s not, they want him to be bad Irvin he’s not. It’s getting out of hand.

It’s as if they can’t wait for something to happen so they can say AH HA!! I TOLD YOU SO! Smh pathetic

Just a kid? That is total BS.

Forget actual arrests, how many times were the cops called to an incident with you in your early 20’s? Any of you?

I did some pretty hard partying throughout the U.S. and the world in my early 20’s (in the navy) and never had the cops called a single time. Some people need to stop making excuses for millionaire athletes just because they play on their favorite team.

In the 17 seasons from 1966-1982, the Cowboys went at least to the conference championship game 14 times. In the 16 seasons from 1996-2011, the Cowboys have won 2 wild card games.

Some people

Need to get over the fact that Dez hardly does anything really wrong. So they need to step off their high horse and not judge based on petty stupid things. He’s never been arrested and nothing he does effects his play on the field.

I agree

that the whole “just a kid” stuff is stupid but your still making a big deal out of nothing.

Forget actual arrests

He has never been arrested so yea you can forget that

Your not a millionaire athlete sir, so comparing your situation to his is ridiculous. He got into a “altercation” at a club and nothing further became of it, the fact that your making this situation out to be something worse than it is is pretty funny

They need to put behavior clauses in his contract.

Pay Dez the league minimum and give him the ability to earn bonus money by staying out of troiuble.

Ok, tell me why this is a story again?

Yes, he has made some bad judgements in the past, for past due bills, etc. But good grief guys, he has never been charged nonetheless convicted of a crime yet we all think he’s such a significant problem.

AS long as his infractions don’t escalate into Sam “I’m Tony Montana” Hurd level crime I will be content.

Each week, play whoever is standing across the field from you, whenever and wherever. If you match up well, exploit it and win. If you don’t, then get very crafty in your game play and try to "steal" a win anyway. Repeat process until no more games remain, and confetti rains down from a retractable roof and Roger Goodell is handing out hardware. - hookerhome

To Dez I say...

Dude, you’re lookin for love in all the wrong places. If you want it from us Cowboy fans we’re here for you man. You’ve been given a gift all of us only dream about having. Don’t waste it. Don’t get me wrong, we see all the extra effort you put out on the field and fight you have. Just don’t blow it! We need you! People are going through alot of hard times in this country and don’t like to see one Dallas’s few ( should I say future) team leaders throw it all away. If you like bling so much, maybe you should focus on getting your nose in the playbook and set your sites on a championship ring or getting married. Settle down and think about your future. If you’re trying to relax and forget about that ruff season maybe you should go fishing with Jimmy. You could even take a nice girl along and get rid of the pressure. Lol ( no pun intended)
