Retitled: "Hey, Jerry, could you STFU?" Love, Fernie.
If Jones is willing to dis one of the few bright spots on the team publicly, he may not plan on having Romo around after the latter's contract expires year after next.
Me? I think Jerry needs to look in the mirror if he wants to pinpoint to the biggest difference between the Giants and the Cowboys.
Thanks to texstar for calling my attention to this.

Romo should retire and screw Jerry over.
Romo I beg you to retire. F Jerry over. Leave him without a qb. Here is your chance to get Jerry back for all the crap he put together and called a team. It’s your chance to screw Jerry for wasting your career. Please Romo. Make Jerry go with a 5th string sub par qb again like all the baseball players and Quincy. Do it Romo. You can do something no fan could ever do. Please.
Make Jerry have to use McGee. Make Jerry understand what a retard he is.
Jerry is the end all in Dallas.
This is ridiculous. Move along there's nothing to see here.
Please don’t insult my intelligence with trifiling fabricated nonsense like PFT. When JJ says Eli’s the biggest difference, he probably meant it as they couldn’t stop him. How is Romo supposed to stop Eli? A QB doesn’t play defense! Of course Jj will have to double back and praise Romo once he makes that statement because mediots will pound on it and construe it as a charge against the QB instead of taking a step back to figure it out. The difference between the Cowboys and Giants is one team’s defense could stop the other team’s QB in the rematch, and Eli got over on Dallas’ mediocre defense in both games. Aaron Rodgers in his first meeting against NYG lit them up much like Romo did. Both Romo and Rodgers lost by 17 points in their second games against NYG.
I don’t mean to rip the person who
made this fanshot. They’re just the messenger. I’m just sick of fabricated controversies from Calvin Watkins and Pro Football Talk.
Another classic case of Double J puting his foot in his mouth.
If Jerry, Stephen, and Jason felt that Romo was to blame, they would’ve kept Campo and asked Houck to not retire (if it was his choice in the first place).
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

Fernie don't take that as me getting mad at you.
I forgot to cut off the first line, this was a copy paste from my text message to my friend who was going back an forth on this story.

Uh, you just acknowledged that JJ put his foot in his mouth. How is there nothing to see?
He IS the franchise.
From the Mothership (not PFT or Watkins) with all the spin you could want:
http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/news.cfm?id=0D455BB7-D23C-5D12-1419A77F6B15ABE1
More specifically, Jones credited the Giants’ constant defensive pressure, but said the difference to New York’s turnaround was the play of its quarterback. Then again, he also said that’s an area the Cowboys don’t need much improvement.
I’m not impressed with his afterthought. He threw his QB under the bus, along with the rest of the team. Yes, the Cowboys didn’t get better. He’s right. My point in posting this is that Jones pointed at everything but his own failings. As far as I’m concerned, his mismanagement of the salary cap and poor drafting are the main reason the Cowboys are home right now.
I guess JJ putting his foot in his mouth is still news
He does this at least once every few months.

Per Jerry Jones
“I thought Romo was competing at a level that would’ve given us that opportunity but the rest of us need to play better and get better before we can really jell the way the Giants are.”
That’s not throwing Romo under the bus.

Look
We both know you hate Dumbface. All Jerry did was acknowledge the obvious, Dumbface played well this year, still not as good as Romo, but well enough to get NYG into the playoffs. And why was that? New York’s line did a better job preventing sacks (until last night) and was better at generating sacks, and consistent pressure.
Like I said above, in games 1 vs GB and Dallas, Romo and Rodgers matched Eli in shootouts. In games 2 vs GB and Dallas, the Giants defense shut down the Packets and Cowboys offenses, while Eli still played well. In the 2nd meetings the Giants won by 17 because their pass rush dominated the offensive lines, giving the secondary more time to challenge receivers.
In games 1 and 2 neither the Dallas defense nor the GB defense did anything to stop Eli.

All right, you take up for Jerry. I don't like his public gaffes, whether it's talking
about his QB, second guessing his head coach, or whatever. I don’t even think he needed to discuss Newman publicly.
Look
I don’t like the fact Jerry spoke. But only because of the potential for what he said to get taken out of context like it did.
The statements involving Romo and Eli are fine. But media types are great at fabricating controversy by taking one quote and running with ot while leaving out the next line which contradicts the premise of the controversy all together.
I also agree he shouldn’t have publicly mentioned Newman.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."
by Rohpuri on Jan 23, 2012 9:12 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
He had best get the Mothership under control, because they provide
those quotes supposedly getting taken out of context, and they work for him.
Let me make myself clear. Do I really think Jones is putting Romo on the market? No. Do I think that Romo will retire a Cowboy? I’m less sure than I was this morning, and I wasn’t sure this morning.
He had best only speak when he can control the conversation
such as 1 on 1 taped interviews or press conferences, instead of standing around of microphones at a college all star practice without time to think about what he’s sayin. Stephen and Garret need to buy him a muzzle.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

On that we absolutely agree. Problem is, once he says something
like that, however he may intend it, doubt is introduced. I’d love to be a fly on the wall when Romo and his posse hear about it. I guarantee someone will take those quotes, whether or not they’re in context, and ask Romo about them.
Romo
Being the consumate professional will say there’s nothing to worry about, and that he will do what it takes to get better. Probably also have a laugh with it too.
Maybe it fuels him to make Jerry eat his misconstrued words.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

yes. I think he added that bc he knew it would be ripe for
being taken out of context. I’d prefer he just not say anything to open himself up to this. He said nothing none of us could see watching the game on TV
"How 'Bout them Cowboys!"---Jimmy Johnson
"...and the Cowboys...STUN the Bills!"--ESPN MNF
Watkins took JJ's statement out of context
While I was not there, in talking with someone who was, Watkins is taking the statement out of context. More specificaly it was about the protection of the QB by the middle of the Oline. He said that as an orgination they made an error in their evaluations of the middle of the Oline. It was not about whether Romo or Eli or better, but who had the better protection.
You have to play this game like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four. Dan Birdwell. Oakland Raiders
How do you want to be rememberd. Go out there and play every play like it is your last play. Be remembered as the person you want to be for the rest of your life. Spike Dykes, Midland Lee and Texas Tech Coach.
This what Jerry said which hasn't been given reporting
“I thought Romo was competing at a level that would’ve given us that opportunity but the rest of us need to play better and get better before we can really jell the way the Giants are.”
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

I'll copy and paste again from Jerry's own mouthpiece website:
More specifically, Jones credited the Giants’ constant defensive pressure, but said the difference to New York’s turnaround was the play of its quarterback. Then again, he also said that’s an area the Cowboys don’t need much improvement.
“Their quarterback play, as a team they got better and better near the end,” Jones said. "That’s obvious. We didn’t. We had counted on getting better and we didn’t. We went the other way. It was a complete team effort on their part and we didn’t play well enough to compete. And I don’t know if we had been competing, if we had gotten into the playoffs, to the level the Giants are. I’m giving them their credit, and they deserve it.
These are also Jerry's words
“Then again, he [Jerry Jones] also said that’s an area the Cowboys don’t need much improvement.”
Jerry Jones further said “I thought Romo was competing at a level that would’ve given us that opportunity (to be where the Giants are) but the rest of us need to play better and get better before we can really jell the way the Giants are.”
Jerry’s clearly throwing the oline, and the secondary under the bus. He didn’t throw Romo under it.
It’s not throwing Romo under the bus to
point out Eli had improved as a player this year. I know you hate dumbface, but JJ isn’t taking a shot our guy in the process.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

Again, we'll have to disagree. My feelings about Dumb Face have nothing to do with it.
Jerry spouted off like Jerry does, and in the process, he compared his QB unfavorably to someone else’s. It could have been Rodgers or Brady or Brees. It may be true of not. He may really feel that way, but it doesn’t belong in the public sphere.
How is Jerry unfavorably speakin. about Romo
when he says Romo’s competing at a playoff level and the rest of the team needs to compete like he does?
He’s praising his QB in the same discussion where he praises Eli.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

I understand your concern
But Jerry is a guy who will change train of thought mid sentence. Quoting him isn’t doing his insanity justice. I read that as giving respect to Eli, giving respect to the Giants as a team, then talking about our shortcomings as a team.
If I was a fan of another team, I would find it funny
here you have the guy who is the GM of the team with probably the biggest fanbase in the NFL, despite average at best performance the last 15 years. In a media driven world, he is incapable of shutting his mouth, and generally speaks nonsense anyway, leading to the biggest sports network in the world analyzing utter nonsense.
Lol. My friend whose an Eagles fan
Always comes to me with “did you hear what Jj did? Did you see what ESPN said about Romo?” It’s ridiculous. NFL Network doesn’t do this junk.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."
Only Deion believes the words coming out of his mouth
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."
This is exactly the first thing I thought of. Especially since it is coming from Watkins.
The media loves to takes things out of context, spin it around, and come up with the next juicy story. This is no different. I seriously doubt that Jerry would deliberately bash Romo knowing the season he had. This “story” is sketchy. That being Calvin Watkins’ article.

Romo isn't the weakness on this team
Our defense is subpar. If at some point JJ packaged Romo for picks I’d understand the business side of it though.
Jerry Jones on the problem areas of the team
1) When asked about some of the problem areas that need to be improved, Jones volunteered the defensive backfield. “In the secondary, I think we’ll get better. We’ll very likely have new faces over there,” Jones said. “How many, I can’t tell you. But I know we’ll have some new faces.”
2) He praised Jenkins and Scandrick but seemed to throw Newman under the bus
Speaking of Newman, Jones tried not to isolate him as the only player who struggled down the stretch, but said it was an “ability to get the job done” and “skill-level drop-off” when asked to put his finger on why Newman’s play dipped so dramatically in the final month of the season.
3) “While Jones was very adamant back in training camp about playing younger players, he admitted Monday the team might have thrown the young offensive line to the wolves too early.”
“We have to give them a chance to grow and progress, but we have to get protection in the middle for Tony (Romo).”
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

Calvin Watkins: resident douche
Jerry once again inserts foot in mouth. Why dont you talk about our porous Oline and fragile secondary. Romo was one of the only bright spots this year you moron. Move on! Next!
I came to the fanshot section to post a fanshot about the difference between the Cowboys and the Giants and Pats.
Thank you Jerruh for proving my point that you are the problem before I even posted my shot.
In the 17 seasons from 1966-1982, the Cowboys went at least to the conference championship game 14 times. In the 16 seasons from 1996-2011, the Cowboys have won 2 wild card games.
