UGH . I Owe Jerry an Apology.
That's what I get for reading not just Watkins or PFT, but Jone's very own Mothership (could they please get an editor?). I should know to go to the source, which is the original interview. No one in the press, that I know of, got it right.
Jerry steps on his own tongue often enough that I bought it completely that he'd done it again. Props to those who questioned the reports, and my bad for arguing with you. He did not bash Romo or even compare Romo unfavorably to Dumb Face.

Yup and you learned a valuable lesson
ESPN, PFT, and Calvin Watkins are garbage.
yup
Only BtB and SBnation for me from now on.
"Obviously, I felt like if I ran into my lineman there it was going to help the play" ~Tony Romo
I didn't just take their word (in fact, I have no idea what ESPN said). I went to the
Mothership, which also utterly misreported what was said and how it was said.
In fact, I just looked at the article at DC.com again, and they put spin on the whole thing
that brought in Romo and comparisons with Eli that are not in the interview at all. I tend to agree with bigham; best to stick with BTB.
defn!
But I hear that twitter is where its at. And who you should follow and ignore is huge there. My buddy lives and dies by twitter for football news.
"Obviously, I felt like if I ran into my lineman there it was going to help the play" ~Tony Romo
rabb, Watkins should be at the very bottom
He has had a history of trying to fabricate controversy. One that real sticks out was in 2010 during the first 2 weeks of the offseason conditioning program. Miles Austin missed those first 2 weeks. Watkins was reporting the Austin was holding out due to his contract. Watkins knew very well that Austin had scheduled to attend Athletes Performance Center the prior December for a 4 week program. He had done this the previous season and came into the S&C program and OTA’s in great shape and focused on trying to break into the starting lineup. He had a breakout season that year. When he scheduled the time at APC he did not know the exact date the offseason program would start so scheduled his time where he thought he would be able to finish there and come straight to Dallas to kick off the offseason program. No matter that the coaches, Austin’s agent David Dunn, Romo, many in the front office and Miles Austin told him where he was and what was going on and that he was in contact everyday with his coaches, Watkins fabricated an entire story. Watkins even went as far as saying that Romo had to personally plead with Austin to come to Dallas.
You have to play this game like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four. Dan Birdwell. Oakland Raiders
How do you want to be rememberd. Go out there and play every play like it is your last play. Be remembered as the person you want to be for the rest of your life. Spike Dykes, Midland Lee and Texas Tech Coach.
There weould be a LOT of competition for this bottom spot...!
anybody at DC.com
anybody at DMN except for Rick Gosselin
Tim MacMahon
Calvin Watkins
JJ Taylor
what a gallery of mediocrity…
They're really bad.
I go on espn occasionally when I’m bored in class or at work, but I never take anything seriously until i see the source or something here. They have such a horrible record of chopping up quote and taking them out of context that it’s ridiculous. More than half of them should be unemployed.
Watkins is one of the worst. I really wish Ratliff bit his head off that one time they got into it.
The best part of the incident between Watkins and Ratliff was Rob Ryan's reaction.
What was it? Something like he’d put his money on Ratliff?
Yeah that was exactly it.
Ratliff would eat that guy alive. Then again, so would RR, but more literally.
Translating Jerry-speak is like decoding the German Enigma machine from WWII.
I mean, if EVERYONE got it wrong, what does that tell you? This guy talks way too much for someone who lacks good communication skills.
I started out with nothing and still have most of it left
LOL. Yeah, I actually feel worse about arguing with folks here about it than I do about
believing Jerry said it. It’s not that hard to buy that he’d open his mouth and insert his foot.
Yeah
I knew it was BS when the article first came out. Tis okay though Fernie. Blame Watkins.

Apology accepted Fernie67
I get defensive about Romo as well, but this situation smelt of controversy fabrication. The mothership was giving context to the story, I didn’t read them trying to say Romo being thrown under the bus, the mothership was probably aware of the blowback and went on defensive explaining way, at least the way I read it.
"The tone is business," Garrett said. "Let's get to work. The Giants are going to be at the Meadowlands on Sunday at 4:15. They're an awfully good football team. We have to get ready for them."

They mangled the story, and I think they gave credibility, albeit unwittingly, to Watkins'
version of the story. They desperately need a good editor before they publish. It’s not just getting things wrong; they plain old mess up grammar and spelling.
They do need an editor

well that was severely misreported
And by DC.com. Thats unlike them, to stir up controversy like that.
Thank heavens there's a BTB out there!
ALL the writers here are hands down better than any other Cowboys source.
I agree too about dc.com being a joke. And dont even get me started on bspn.
Jerry owes us an apology
He should just shut up. His words are pretty much meaningless and he should be smart enough to realize by now that they`re gonna twist his words around anyways…unless he`s a complete moron….yeah I know.
