Madonna is performing at halftime, while I can tolerate her music for the sake of my relationship I really could do without it during the superbowl.

Since it is relatively slow around here today I thought we might engage in a little discussion on the topic.

What artists/bands would you rather see perform in years to come?

do not speak too hastily sir

We have yet to see a justin bieber/rebecca black duet.

Personally i would love for van halen or metallica to do it. Or maybe put prince back out there.

Each week, play whoever is standing across the field from you, whenever and wherever. If you match up well, exploit it and win. If you don’t, then get very crafty in your game play and try to "steal" a win anyway. Repeat process until no more games remain, and confetti rains down from a retractable roof and Roger Goodell is handing out hardware. - hookerhome

I ws goin to say that the only performance worth a damn was Prince's gig from a few years ago. He is too mercurial to trust again, but damn he was awesome

His whole set was brilliant

If you thought that solo was good, go to youtube and find the version of ‘My Guitar Gently Weeps’ that was done at the Rock and Rool Hall of Fame Dinner after George Harrison died. Someone else takes the first solo, and then Prince steps up with a look on his face that says “Son, this is how it is done”

It is absolutely brilliant

It is brilliant and as soon as Nick mentioned Prince I was already going to post this link!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifp_SVrlurY

Prince’s solo starts at the 3:30 mark.

In the 17 seasons from 1966-1982, the Cowboys went at least to the conference championship game 14 times. In the 16 seasons from 1996-2011, the Cowboys have won 2 wild card games.

yeah that is the one. WHo is the guy who takes the fist solo?

I am going to show my age by calling these bands 'new fangled' but

Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters should probably get a crack at it.

Has Bon Jovi done it yet? If Madonna is worthy, he certainly is worthy.

Stevie Wonder is more than worthy.

Beyonce will mkae her post-baby comeback at the 2015 Super Bowl.

Bon jovi and stevie wonder would be excellent acts. Santana i think might be good too, but his demographic may be a bit narrow. The foo fighters and pearl jam would be pretty awesome as well. If layne staly from alice in chains was still alive that would make my entire life.

Sad thing is that it is not about being worthy.

It is about “who is not going to do anything racy and embarrass us on TV”. Madonna is not the same as she was in the ’90’s and is safe now.

NFL has crappy halftimes now. NBA still has good ones at the all star game. Thanks JT and Janet.

I think the halftime shows should be someone who’s still relevent in music. I’ll admit Madonna was very popular and had some good music, but it was almost 10 years ago.

There are plenty of bands who would have been good choices. The Foo Fighters recently released a new album that’s been well received, Van Halen with David Lee Roth back would have been good.

I’m not a big country fan but you really can’t go wrong with it.

They need to do country.

I thought last year in TX would of been perfect for it but no. This is truly a great time for country and could have an ensemble of singers up there. Brad always puts on a good show and works well with others same with Keith, Jason, Taylor, Sugarland and many more

This is a tough one for me

Being an island native I prefer reggae of course and I’d say Jah Cure because he’s currently my favorite artist after him I’d say Collie Buddz because he’s the most universally known artist from Bermuda. Leaving reggae behind though I’d like to see The Roots hit the stage or Lyfe jennings.

They already were featured on the Sunday night Cowboys game against the Giants, so they are somewhat NFL approved. They are all seasoned musicians, so they’d be safe. And their music flat out rocks! and They’re relevant, with 2 albums out, one Gold, and the one released in September peaking at #9 on the US charts. They also have international recognition. All 4 members have platinum albumns with other bands as well (Van Hallen/Hagar/RHCP/Satriani)
