Hope they don't fall for the same thing we did

The guy has proven time and again, he is an A+ Def coordinator and a F- Head coach.

Wade got a really bad rap here in Big-D

But let’s keep in mind: Wade Phillips won us our only playoff game of last decade. How long has it been since we’ve won one before that?

I know most football fans only think a coach is good if he yells and curses a lot, but Wade was not as bad as advertised—we can’t really blame him for Jerry Jones castrating him of any authority he might have had here with his extremely convoluted power-structure.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not calling Wade a HoF head coach, and I’m not saying I’m not happier with Garrett now or anything like that. Wade has his own faults and failures to be sure, as does any coach, but if Wade was that bad as a coach, then why aren’t we winning Super Bowls so far with him “finally” gone?

He had similar results

in other stops as hc. It was not like his time here was an anomaly. Their are a myriad of issues here in Big D that contribute to our situation, however it is hard to argue against Wade’s track record and expect different results regardless of the team.
Wade is the Edsel of head coaches, great concept, poor execution, disastrous results. Buyer beware.

disastrous results

I’m sorry, I just can’t agree with you here. The 2010 season was disastrous, but you can’t call all of Wade’s results disastrous.

My premise is that Wade is not as bad as advertised by Cowboys fans, and I stand by that claim.

i agree

and i think TB is making a mistake, i’m glad he’s gone i think jerry was slow to cut him but i also believe some fans here tend to be way too reactionary, he got more heat than deserved

Wade was not the problem in Dallas

Wade is a good coach and the proof is in the job he did in Houston, 2011.
The Cowboys were 1 and 7 in 2010, Wade payed the price, took it like a man. A class act, I would say.
But the fact remains, that the offence, turned the ball over 19 times in those 8 games and led the leage in penalties. In one game against the Giants the Dallas D got 5 turnovers and still lost. The Cowboys D was not the problem in 2010.
One or two more seasons and then we will figure out the problem in Dallas. Too bad by then the careers of Radlif, Ware, Witten and Romo will be almost over.

As a D coordinator

Wade is great and his record (as DC) reflects that. That was not in question, his head coaching was, and in case I missed something I don’t think Kubiak stepped down so his time in houston doesn’t apply.
He was a great D coordinator in San Diego as well. Still has nothing to do with him as a HC… which his record says is mediocre.

The edsel comment was just a little tongue in cheek (I was watching a program about it at the time), however wade does have a track record mired in mediocrity. Perhaps I should have ended the statement with mediocre results, but then it wouldn’t have fit with the edsel… either way, I wish wade the best, though I prefer to see him as a GREAT D coordinator as opposed to a mediocre HC.

Wade is a below average coach. Not the worst every

Every team he’s taken over has gone on a downward trajectory. He took over a talented Parcells team that had just acquired its final piece: QB. Wade’s regime has little discipline, which explains why he’s a good D coordinator because the players have to work within the HC’s disciplinary structure.

They should have left him in Minneapolis

after the debacle in 2009. He lost the team that night.

I don't remember Wade playing Oline

and it was a early game. Romo was lucky to get out with his life. That game was on the offence.

i dont know who made the choice jg,wade or jj

But who ever let Columbo to start over Free during the playoffs sucks..

Also who ever made the choice to start Ball at safety needs to be fired. I really do believe Ball cost us the season last year..

Oline was terrible that game

However you can’t put all of 34-3 whooping on the offense. That was a blowout, and the defense was just as culpable.

by TheCowboyWay on Jan 9, 2012 8:14 AM CST up reply actions

yes the offensive line was the main culprit

but the poor discipline of the Wade regime had infected the whole team by that time
