How I think we can realistically fix the back end of our defense in one offseason.

With all the banter switching to the Draft and FA, we should instead be fuming about how the Falcons threw for over 400 yards and 5 touchdowns on our secondary during the 2012 Wildcard Playoff game today at Cowboys Stadium. Alas...

Here's how I think we could fix the Secondary for the long term in just the next 4 months.

Sign a young Top-10 FA CB in March to start next year alongside Jenkins. The FA period begins in March - prior to the Draft. It places you in a greater position of strength by removing CB from your list of top needs and pushes you towards selecting the BPA in the Draft.

Draft one of the Top-Tier corners in the 2nd or 3rd round of the draft (deep in CB talent). This gives you flex-ability not only in personnel on the field also with the CAP. You get a young ie,read (CHEAP) plug-in for cutting or replacing other starting CB's who might not be performing up to their contract or who get injured. See NYG for lesson on how you can never have enough CB’s (especially in a pass happy league)

Pick a late round developmental CB in the draft that has high upside/coach-ability/RKG. Gives you another young low cost project that can be an injury sub if needed or moved to the PS if u cant use him on the 53.

If we were able to achieve this (a very realistic goal) it could end our secondary woes immediately. And in 2 years be a position of strength for this team.

This we know is UNDENIABLE. – We simply MUST address the back end of this defense. The question is how to fix it??? We did O-line last year with wholesale changes and it seems to be working or will be working once we get that great next Guard plugged in.

Lets fix that damned secondary next, for our run for the Super Bowl in 2013!

So what would you do?
