Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
In a little bit of pregame back-and-forth, Ray Lewis said the Cowboys wouldn't have any success on the ground against the Ravens on Sunday. Lawrence Vickers took exception to that.
The Baltimore Ravens have allowed 592 rushing yards in five games so far this season, the 11th most in the league. They have allowed a pair of 100+ yard rushing efforts to the Bengals and Eagles, and last week allowed the Chiefs to burn them for 214 yards on the ground.
Yet Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis said in yesterday's conference call that the Cowboys shouldn't expect to get their running game healthy this week.
"They can look to do whatever they want to do but it ain’t going to be what they think it’s going to be."
Predictably, Cowboys fullback Lawrence Vickers was not amused.
"You see me. I stay ready for whoever," Vickers told the Star-Telegram. "Names don't scare me, man. Teams don't scare me. I'm a man before anything. So I let other men just talk. See me in between those lines. That's how I get it down. Like that."
Vickers and Lewis of course have a little bit of a history, as this little video from Vickers' time in Cleveland shows:
Of course, the Cowboys themselves have only run for 128 yards over the last three games, so Vickers may not be in the greatest position to start throwing stones. Glass houses and all.
But at least Vickers is showing some spirit.
"They are going to have to jump me. You feel me. They are going to have to jump me man. That's what it's going to be. I'm coming with it. They know I'm coming with it. I know they’re coming with it. Let's meet in the lines. That's just how it goes."
We'll find out on Sunday who'll end up walking the talk.
