Garrett needs to be replaced now!!

After a must-win game in which the Cowboys were outplayed, the solution seems obvious: Garrett must be fired and either Holmgen or Payton should be hired to lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl.

Look at how the Eagles, behind a rookie quarterback, completely outplayed the Cowboys:

How Jason Garrett could have his team unprepared for the biggest game of the season is inexcusable. Dallas was dominated in time of possession, total net yards, goal to go efficiency, and net yards passing.

The latter suggests that Tony Romo should be traded or released immediately so the Cowboys can begin the rebuilding process. Disregard that Romo's passer rating was 122.12 in Philadelphia. Disregard the fact that Romo did not throw an interception for the second straight game; it is obvious that the Cowboys won this game despite Tony.

In addition, it is apparent that Garrett cannot make sound decisions on draft day. Under the supervision of Jason, the Cowboys sacrificed their second round draft choice in order to draft Morris Claiborne.

Here is Claiborne's line for this must-win game:

So a quarterback that has a season passer rating of 77.7, and a rookie quarterback racked up a passer rating of 146.73 against the rookie corner. In addition, Morris committed five penalties that directly led to five first downs for the Eagles.

That Garrett approved such a move on draft day is disgraceful. But Jason's personnel errors are minimized when compared to the lack of discipline demonstrated by the Dallas Cowboys. For the fourth time this season, the Cowboys accumulated 13 penalties in a game.

Despite being 3-1 (losing at Baltimore) in those games, the number of penalties accumulated by the Cowboys is a direct indictment on the lack of quality coaching this edition of the Dallas Cowboys is receiving.

The penalty breakdown clearly shows that Garrett has lost control of this team:

This is the epitome of undisciplined football which falls directly on the head coach. Ignore the fact that 10 of the 13 penalties occurred on defense. The head coach is responsible for the execution of the players on both sides of the ball and on special teams. It is obvious that Garrett is fostering an environment that closely resembles a country club.

As a show of poor preparation, the Cowboys permitted the Eagles to score on their initial drive for the first time this season. Then Jason made the following play calls on offense:

Dallas Cowboys at 00:36 (1st quarter)

1-10-DAL35

(:36) T.Romo pass incomplete short left to M.Austin.

2-10-DAL35

(:31) L.Dunbar right tackle to DAL 40 for 5 yards (C.Marsh).

Second Quarter

Dallas Cowboys continued...

(15:00) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete deep right to D.Bryant.

4-5-DAL40

(14:56) B.Moorman punts 42 yards to PHI 18, Center-L.Ladouceur, fair catch by D.Johnson.

Dallas Cowboys at 15:00 (3rd quarter)

1-10-DAL20

(15:00) T.Romo pass incomplete short left to D.Bryant (N.Asomugha).

2-10-DAL20

(14:57) T.Romo sacked at DAL 16 for -4 yards (C.Jenkins).

3-14-DAL16

(14:21) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete short right [F.Cox].

4-14-DAL16

(14:15) B.Moorman punts 46 yards to PHI 38, Center-L.Ladouceur, downed by DAL-K.Wilber.

Dallas Cowboys at 12:46 (3rd quarter)

1-10-DAL17

(12:46) F.Jones up the middle to DAL 21 for 4 yards (A.Jordan).

2-6-DAL21

(12:11) F.Jones up the middle to DAL 22 for 1 yard (M.Kendricks).

3-5-DAL22

(11:30) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass short right to L.Vickers to DAL 23 for 1 yard (D.Ryans).

4-4-DAL23

(10:55) B.Moorman punts 53 yards to PHI 24, Center-L.Ladouceur. D.Johnson to PHI 28 for 4 yards (A.Albright).

Dallas Cowboys at 01:54 (4th quarter)

1-10-PHI47

(1:54) F.Jones up the middle to PHI 45 for 2 yards (K.Coleman).

2-8-PHI45

(1:49) F.Jones right end to PHI 46 for -1 yards (D.Ryans).

3-9-PHI46

(1:44) F.Jones left end to PHI 43 for 3 yards (N.Asomugha).

4-6-PHI43

(:59) B.Moorman punts 32 yards to PHI 11, Center-L.Ladouceur, out of bounds.

Dallas came into this game at Philadelphia leading the league in having the fewest 3-and-outs after nine weeks. But after the travesty that was the play calling in this game that led to four three-and-outs, it is likely that this is no longer the case.

Finally, the Cowboys once again struggled in goal-to-go situations. To compound the issue, the Eagles, which came in as the worst team in goal-to-go situations, scored every time they crossed the Dallas ten yard line on Sunday afternoon.

Once again the lack of preparation falls squarely upon the shoulders of the head coach: Jason Garrett. Look at how the Houston Texans defense performed today under Wade Phillips:

Interceptions

Fumble recoveries

Red zone efficiency

2

2

0-1 0%

The fact that Houston had better defensive statistics today than Dallas demonstrates that Wade Phillips is a superior coach over Jason Garrett. The fact that Wade is coaching different players is irrelevant. Garrett was the problem between 1997 through 2010, despite boasting a top 10 offense over that time.

After Vick suffered a concussion, the Eagles ran off 10 straight points in the third quarter with a rookie quarterback. This is due to the conservative game plan Jason Garrett designed.

Jason Garrett needs to be fired right now. There is no way to interpret these statistics and come up with another conclusion.
