Redskins @ Cowboys Monday Injury Report: Eight Players Miss First Practice

Felix Jones was limited in Monday's walkthrough. - Ronald Martinez

The Cowboys did not run a full practice on Monday, but eight players ended up missing the walkthrough anyway, including Tyron Smith and Jay Ratliff.

The Cowboys did not have a full practice on Monday, instead only conducting a walkthrough in preparation for the game against the Redskins on Thursday. Because it was only a walkthrough, the practice report published by the NFL is just an estimation.

But walkthrough or not, the injury list keeps growing for the Cowboys. Eight players did not participate and four more players were listed as limited by the NFL. Not participating were:

  • Tyron Smith, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain, did not participate. While the injury appears to be less severe than initially feared, he's a game-time decision at best for the Redskins game.
  • Jay Ratliff was also out with a groin injury.
  • Kevin Ogletree and Charlie Peprah were both out with concussions, and given that the next game is on Thursday, they are both doubtful for Turkey Day.
  • DeMarco Murray (ankle), Sean Lissemore (ankle), Ryan Cook (knee) and Phil Costa (ankle) hadn't practiced last week and didn't practice yesterday either.

I don't know what it means exactly when a player is listed as "limited" in a walkthrough, but Felix Jones (knee), Mike Jenkins (back), Danny McCray (hip) and Lawrence Vickers (knee) were apparently just that. John Phillips, a carryover from last week's injury report, was listed as a full participant in yesterday's walkthrough.

The most significant injury news for the Redskins is that safety Brandon Meriweather tore the ACL in his right knee on Sunday and will be out for the rest of the season. Meriweather had missed the first nine games of the season with a sprained MCL and PCL in his left knee.
