Cowboys' Dez Bryant Might Be Out For Remainder Of Season

US PRESSWIRE

Breaking news has it that Dez Bryant injured his hand in yesterday's game. What will this mean?

Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com just released this tidbit via twitter:

Although this is still in the speculative stages (note the "pending the results" section of Eatman's tweet), if Bryant does indeed require surgery, it will almost certainly mean that he is done for the season.

Bryant sprained the index finger on his left hand when he got tackled after his second catch of the day, which didn’t come until there were less than 10 minutes remaining in the game. Five plays later, he caught a 27-yard touchdown pass to bring the Cowboys within two points. Now, its clear that he made that play with an injury that requires surgery.

This is a shame, as Bryant has been arguably Dallas' best player for the last month and change. In the last four games, Bryant has corralled 30 passes for 438 yards and six touchdowns - the kind of numbers that garner Pro Bowl invites. If we extrapolate them over a full season, we're looking at 120 catches, 1700+ yards, and 24 touchdowns. Pro Bowl numbers, indeed.

The latest news is that Dez's index finger is fractured, and his long-term status is undetermined...sigh.
