The Cowboys finally made a decision on center Phil Costa and that was to move him to IR. Costa hasn't played in the past six games, forcing a rotation of Ryan Cook (who has dealt with his own injury problems) and Mackenzy Bernadeau. Cook is back healthy and looks like he'll man the center spot from here on out.
Filling the roster spot is newly-signed tackle Darrion Weems. Weems was on the Denver Broncos practice squad after bouncing around a handful of NFL teams in his career.
For the good news, Jay Ratliff was back at Wednesday's practice. Josh Brent has been doing a good job of filling in for the Rat, but with the defense struggling, they could use a boost from the veteran. Ratliff adds an element of disruption and pass rush in the backfield that no other Cowboys defensive lineman possesses.
[UPDATE] ESPN originally reported Ratliff practiced but the official report says he did not participate. Sorry for the confusion.
As a precaution, the Cowboys held DeMarco Murray out of practice. For more on Murray, check out our BTB interview with him. Also, Charlie Peprah and Orlando Scandrick missed practice as expected.
Dallas lost a player of the practice squad, the Oakland Raiders signed running back Jamize Olawale to their active roster.
